Aye, but cheddar's a bit of a marmite thing.
Wensleydale? I mean: the whole moon can't be wrong!

But yes, those Ricks have a unique look that I just can't stop to love even when it's quite absurd really.
...and that sound! That sound! (given the right fingers and the right equipment of course)

Am I allowed to say that? I almost wish I wasn't....

You're allowed to say it quietly!

Gorgeous basses, but they are indeed marmite. Try out one of the new walnut limited editions if you get the chance :)

This is it. I've never known a fussier bass when it comes to how it's played or what gear it's being used with. But, when you get it right... :gas:

You are more than allowed to say that! It's the first step on the road to ownership ;)

Mine sounds and plays amazingly! Love it!

I hate the damn things - looks, sound and everything even though they have been used on some of my favourite records! A mate of mine has one, which must be one of the worst 'expensive' basses I've ever played...

Marmite basses indeed...

I had an almost identical experience in Wunjos. I was trying a 64 Jazz American Vintage and someone was trying a leftie Ric - the Jazz was Ok but the Ric sounded almost hifi in comparison - the guy played Dune Tune by Level 42 and I was astonished how good it sounded. But then I remembered Larry Graham used one on Thankyouforlettingme etc etc etc.

Sound wise fabulous - not so sure on the look of them.

Understood, but it did take out the funny bits, especially yours

I know, but it was veering elsewhere. Anyway, I'm all for discussing Rickenbacker bass guitars, and my own should be ready soon. Cant wait!

Just the work on my 4001 as is detailed elsewhere here. It's been with a luthier for a couple of weeks now. Was hoping to get it back this weekend, but it does not look like it's happening :( . Soon tho :)
