Gibson Midtown bass 2012

Another new Gibson out, the Midtown standard bass.

Like the guitar series it's a semi-hollow, electric bass featuring a full scale neck and both mini and max humbucker (exact from the SG bass range).

A lot to read up on from the page but the array of finishes is pretty tasty as far as Gibson often give us bassists.

Sunburst or red? ;)

It's the same with the midtown guitars they do, just a general flatter, thinner and I think, electric driven hollow body guitar as to what you mentioned.

I know what you mean and yet I shallnt complain as I believe Gibson are trying their best to appeal to bassists and ill take my hat off to them for this as to the Flying V, LPJ an even the new 70's G3 (as apposed to a Standard model).

Yeah the new Gibson stuff looks really interesting although I'd be interested to try the semi as I believe it's not a traditionally built semi rather more of a hollowed out solid guitar (a bit like the Rickenbacker semis?)

More exciting is that the prices look much more realistic. The New 70s Tribute G3 bass is being advertised here

And unless I'm mistaken looks like it'll be less than £700!!!

Whether that'll change when it's in stock I don't know?

more than anything, i like the fact it will be a semi-hollow without a "Plus Top" and back like the Jack Cassady bass, that didn't sit well with my beer belly but like to see how this actually looks and feels in real life as to criticizing a picture XD

EB3L? "L" for long scale, right? if so, i would LOVE one of them, current "SG" EB models are nice but too short for me :(

I wonder how it stacks up against a Jack Casady though. I know the pickup config is different and one is US and one isn't but the JC is supposed to be a really good bass, both are semi hollow 34" 335 ish shaped lovelies. And the JC also looks great in black.
