I politely informed him that I no longer wish to be part of his band.
I've done that!

I'd have lured him to a deserted warehouse and shot him in the face.

I've thought about doing that!

then slap him with my cock
Never thought about doing that!

I don't think you even need to ask, mate - if you're not going paid, no-one talks to you like that, ever.
Even if I am getting paid, no one talks to me like that!

He's supposed to be your friend and he treated you like that? I've have knocked him down a peg or two. If he didn't like it I'd tell him to turn the other cheek... then slap him with my cock
I'd have knocked him out.

And, to clarify, wouldn't even slap him with a stolen cock.

Just so we're clear, here's the plan for dealing with this bloke:

OP lures him to a deserted warehouse

Politely informs him OP is "no longer in the band"

Chrismuzz slaps him with his cock

Spike kicks him in the nuts

Steve injects his bell-end with mercury

Ed S knocks him out

I shoot him in the face

Jake eats his liver
Followed by live music and disco till 1am.

Cash bar, free parking. Tickets £10 in advance (£12 on the door)

.

Possibly. I also had to edit for a couple of other suggestions.

We'll probably have to improvise the pussy thing.

Lol you guys crack me up ;) Good read to wake up to!

Glad to hear I definitely did the right thing. Regarding some other questions:
- i was asked to play guitar (I do that at a similar sort of standard to bass)
- the bass player is his girlfriend (go figure, no idea what she sees in him)
- despite being the music guy for a gospel choir he isn't a christian

Every time we've seen him he's been bitching about how you can't find the band members these days and 'this musician' won't learn the parts, 'that musician' isn't available when we want to practice... every person he has referenced has been a musician who earns a living from playing gigs and teaching locally. He is an out-of-work sound engineer with a lot of time on his hands who calls off practices at a moment's notice cos he got a job, or cos he wants to go water-skiing, yet throws a wobbly because 'you've got a prior commitment that night'.

What bugs me most is not necessarily the attitude, but something some of you have already touched on. He is expecting session level professionalism and ability WITHOUT paying for it, AND without reflecting any of what should be expressed by an employer of such musicians.

In fact, scratch that, what bugs me the most is that no-one pulls him up for it. Well I will. And have.

What.

a.

tool.

I will have no more to do with him.
Shouldn't you have read his emails thoroughly and taken in the information?
Absolutely, and I did, and there were holes in the information - massively gaping holes that I would get blamed for by this egomaniac. Not only that but the info was drip fed, unclear, and seemed to change with every message. I work at a law firm - the core skill is attention to detail and knowing when info is missing or incorrect and working out what should be said/shouldn't be said. This guy would have got labelled as a 'bad client' very early on from the start if it was work!

Johnston, yup, I hear you. I have asked the same question (i.e. 'why hasn't someone cock-slapped him sooner' but wrapped up in something slightly more palatable). But that isn't a story for this thread and certainly not for the forum :)

.......................I asked what he wanted me to work on first before a practice, and he informed me that he wants me to learn them EXACTLY as recorded and perfect them to a T before a first practice, otherwise what's the point..............................
......................... He informs me he refuses to schedule a gig until he thinks the band is ready........................

Since then, he's had another couple of massive rants, expecting me to attend a rehearsal within a days notice, and insisting there will be no provisional gig til a practice. I've now been given an updated set list numbering 30 tracks, and he's not clarified which ones I'm meant to learn verbatim, create parts for, or ignore. I asked for him to specify, he said he mentioned this in an earlier email, I respond with 'what about the new ones' and his response his 'I've already explained all this numerous times in detail I refuse to do it again'.

All you need is, to hear about the $50 fine for playing a bum note & you have a perfect James Brown tribute act.

I just want to ask him 'have you ever thought that MAYBE the reason you can't find any musicians to play with you is that no-one WANTS to play with you?'
I know a few people like that :(

Sadly they don't / can't / won't believe it is their fault......

:D at least with James Brown there is (would have been, rather) a level of improv and not so much about the notes and more about hitting the pocket hard. This guy wanted syncopated drum fills and unison lines at a moment's notice, when he himself couldn't clearly explain it to you.

Well, I've made my stance clear, and I won't be accepting any invites to play with him in the future unless I get an apology *safe to say THAT won't happen* OR I get to call some shots... or I get paid by the hour according to my actual job's charge out rate. That would DEFINITELY satisfy me ;)

According to him? 4 until i dropped out... officially? him and his girlfriend.

I just want to ask him 'have you ever thought that MAYBE the reason you can't find any musicians to play with you is that no-one WANTS to play with you?'

It would seem the common denominator would be that he is a mahooosive fag.
