Cool idea though[/quote] Well every bass cab I've seen with a tweeter has a passive crossover with a single amp driving it, so thats not strictly true. Use of an active crossover (popular in old Laney and PV gear) before the power amp, and the use of multiple power amps seems to have more or less disappeared as cabs have become better at full range, and amps have got gruntier. I've run a Laney G300 and Crown DC300 lab amp in a true crossovered/stereo configuration before into 2x410s and 2x115s. Broke all the current rules by having two seperated stacks one each side of the drummer(s) etc etc, but it sounded totally enormous for everyone on stage and off, honest Trouble was the rig was bigger than most of the venues we played at Still it never failed to make an impression! Aguilar 2x12 Rack case with MarkBass Little Mark II, transmitter for Shure Wireless Monitors and a Wireless reciever (not used very often) Boss pedal case with Boss Overdrive, Phaser and Tuner MarkBass Traveller 15 (not shown) for smaller gigs/practices etc, likley to go soon... Basses : Mex Fender Jazz with Quarter Pounders. This my main gigging bass and is wired vol/blend rather than vol/vol. A bridge upgrade is likley soon... Mex Fender P Special (Active) Mostly backup bass or used for our occasional pub gigs when we play heavier material. Will probably remove the active electronics when I get round to it or swap for another passive Jazz. Warwick Corvette (Active) used this for about 3 years playing heaver material and it's taken quite a beating, hasn't been gigged for about 2 years now. I find it easy to shift about whilst giving me plenty of volume and different tones for my needs without breaking the bank. I've not got any real GAS at the moment but I'm sure that will change... So I guess for the sake of completeness here goes: Lightweight Shuttle rig to the left, Burman Pro4000 vintage rig to the right. Trace V8 to the left with both Neo212's stacked, stereo MIDI rig to the right but the Strategy has been sold to AshEvans and been finished with the module below It's separated into two modules. The upper one is the MIDI kit (mixer, AX100 and JV1080) and in the lower rack, there is my faithful Lexicon MPXG2 which I've configured to take the MIDI from a stereo mixer input through the insert loop as well as the non MIDI signal through the guitar input. the white unit is a TL Audio 5013 2 channel, 4 band, valve parametric equaliser. This was to give me the versatility that so many bass amps I've had have failed to supply me with. Its also intended to soften the highs a little as well and it does the trick of isolating the frequencies very nicely for £110. The TL still needs a bit of work done on it, the preamp valves need biasing I suspect (there is a bias adjustment inside the unit for preamp valves). Below the TL Audio is a Technical Pro DA-B3000 class D power amp which preserves the mid range growl of the Spector extremely well. I can also hear the release of my fingers from each string which makes locking tightly in with a drummer so much easier. This whole set up with the bottom rack and the two EBS cabs is very satisfying to play through. For those moments on the dark side, there's this: 50w Burman Pro501 1x12 combo. I use it for this as it is far more portable than my Trace. Despite being only 15 watts, it's loud enough to play with a drummer and 2 guitarists. BB3000S Posted August 7, 2009 Share Posted August 7, 2009 Here's mine, the cabinets are two Swedish built TKS-212's (~20kg's each and NO Neodynium involved). Sound amazing and are a breeze to carry, used to play Aguilar GS-212 and EBS Proline 410 but my back said no. The TKS:es have filled the Aguilar/EBS shoes perfectly. I'm in the process of simplifying my head (ampwise that is ) and will either be running the EBS alone or the Ampeg SVT-IIp together with a LabGruppen 1000 poweramp I just came across. In all honesty the Ampeg pre really floors the EBS for the most part, good stuff! My pedalboard is pretty EBS-heavy to say the least... I'm trying to remedy that and have recently replaced the ValveDrive and MultiDrive by a BJFE Blueberry bass overdrive that's pure magic.
