  1. How on earth is this still here? It's a fair price without the upgrades and with them it's a steal. If I hadn't bought a new one the day before, I'd have snapped this up.
  2. I vaguely remember gigging too... and when I did, this is the bass I used. Combination of great tone, versatility and reasonable weight meant that the others got left at home. Including my fabulous Squier JV Precision.
  3. Up for sale is my superb gigging PJ bass. I painstakingly built this up over a few years, trying out different combinations of bodies and pickups, centred around that superb Warmoth neck. Times they are a changin' and I’d like something shorter to practice with in my very small home office. This was superbly set up by Chris Ward of Bass Centre fame. I even had him dress the fret ends. It plays like an absolute dream and currently has an old set of GHS Pressurewounds that kinda sound like flats now. Will be sad to see it go. Here are the Specs: Neck: Warmoth USA Style: Tele® Bass Construction: Super Bass Construction Scale: 34" Orientation: Right Handed Neck Wood: Roasted Maple Fingerboard Wood: Indian Rosewood Nut Width: 1-11/16" Back Shape: Slim Taper (about 21mm front-to-back at nut) Stiffening Rods: Graphite Rods Fret Size: 6105 Tuner Ream: Hipshot Ultra Lite (14mm) Radius: Straight 10" Fret #: 21 Mounting Holes: Standard 4 Bolt Inlays: Cream Face Dots Side Dots: White Side Dots String Nut: GraphTech Black TUSQ XL - Standard Nut Finish: Tru-Oil (Gunstock Oil) finish (did this myself) Hipshot USA Ultralite Tuners Hipshot USA Ultralite Bass Xtender Hipshot String Retainer Body: Squier Affinity Original pickguard and bridge Copper shielding in pickup routes Seymour Duncan SPB-1 Pickup at neck Dimarzio UltraJazz (Split coil) at bridge. Currently wired in series for high output, but you could put a toggle on the scratchplate for parallel. Kiogon wiring loom, with selector, vol, vol, tone. Weight of this bass is a very reasonable 3.75Kg. There are a few minor scratches and a couple of dings here and there but nothing that jumps out. Hit me up if you want close up pics of anything. Trade wise, I'm looking for a medium or short scale that's very light weight. 3.5Kg absolute maximum and preferably lighter. Price is a firm £525 £450 plus delivery. EDIT: That is the one and only price drop before being parted out. I estimate that insured, that will come out £40-50. If you're local, you are welcome to look and try in a safe, socially distanced way, which probably means outside or in the garage. If this doesn't sell, I'd look to part it out but let's face it, no one wants that hassle and I've got at least 1 box I can use. It would be such a shame to break this up, as it feels like these were meant to be together. Optionally, I can include the superb Mono M80 Case. We'd have to work out a price for that.
  4. Agree with the 'silly amounts of power'. You should also mention the amazing tone!
  5. I used to have the twin of this and was also forced to sell it. Without doubt the best sounding and Playing bass I’ve ever owned.
  6. Bought my little vox practice amp. No hassles, straight forward. 👍
  7. Bought this at the beginning of the year from a seller in Japan. What attracted me to it was it very low weight: 3.09 KG (6.81lbs), as I have a bad back. Balances very well, with only the merest hint of neck dive (but I'm very, very picky about that). It's a well made and lovely sounding instrument. The split-coil pickup is about 3cm further back toward the bridge (as measured from 12th fret) than it would be on a traditional P, so sound tighter and growlier. Think of an Ibanez Soundgear with a bit wider nut (40mm). Basswood body, maple / rosewood neck. 13 3/4 " radius but doesn't feel to 'flat' £150 Delivered to Mainland UK, a soft gig-bag is included. You can also come round and try it out. Only selling, as I want to get my hands on a short or medium scale, so if you have one we might be able to do a trade. Plenty of dings and scratches, has had a full life. For the sake of full disclosure, there is an issue with the neck (there would have to be for that price). There was fret-buzz higher up the neck so I took it to my tech. He tells me that it's straight and the truss rod works, but it doesn't have as much effect on the first 5 frets on the neck, so can't set the relief exactly as he'd want. He's put a slightly heavier gauge of strings on (.110) and the action at about the 12th is a little higher than I'd like ideally but it plays very well. EDIT: the heavier gauge strings is because my band play downtuned and I don't like losing string tension. I bought another neck off eBay with a similar length of neck heel that would need re-shaping (maybe a little short) which I'll include (currently for sale in Other Musical Items). As it plays so well, never had to go down that route.
  8. It does say max dimensions of images, but that other than that is says 'too many of this and too much of that'
  9. Thanks, will adjust accordingly. Is this in a sticky thread anywhere?
  10. Well, I'm all for it as there are some that take the p*ss. I did a search for 'signature' in "Site Issues and Questions" but didn't come up with anything relevant. Will search the wider site.
  11. Trying to tweak my signature, I'm suddenly getting issues. It's now telling me there's too many images, links, lines, etc. When in fact I was making it less. Can it be new rules? Seem a bit draconian. I've stripped it right back to this, no images, only 4 links an 9 lines. Still have this error pop up. What gives?
  12. Welcome, have fun and try not to get carried away with buying stuff here.
  13. Bit of a late reply @hooky_lowdown but there's also the Cort Action Junior.
  14. Just bought a mini phaser pistol pedal. Excellent stuff, thanks. 👍
  15. You have a full sized image of a bass in your signature, with a flame maple top. Maybe he means that?
  16. £100 for that driver is a steal. I've NEVER seem one second hand. Stevie turned me onto this driver and I put it into an Ashdown combo (check my sig for a link to the build diary). It sounds absolutely incredible. Haven't looked back since.
  17. Not only did he provide me with free stuff (good quality at that), he also dropped it off in person. Doesn't get much better than that.
  18. I have 2 and only need 1, so this is up for sale. Perfect working condition, but a little dust on the grill-cloth that would probably brush out. Runs from a standard 9v power supply or 6 AA batteries (I use rechargeable). Aux in / headphone out and 1/4 jack socket for your bass. There is a tuner and a metronome and multiple drum patterns, good for jamming along with. Original packaging, and I probably have the manual around here somewhere but I imagine could be downloaded easily enough. £35 including postage or a little less if collected from East Herts.
  19. Well respected octave pedal. couple of marks here and there, all superficial. Seem to have misplaced a couple of the screws that on the bottom but the ones left are more than up to the task. That weird foam backing same as all EBS pedals but Velcro seems to stick to it OK. £70 delivered or collect from East Herts. Trade for another octave, COG t-16, Boss OC-2, etc.
  20. I had the twin of this and gigged it for a few years. Really lovely bass. This one is even lighter that mine was I think.
  21. Bit of an impulse buy this, for a project that in the cold light of day will never happen. Aria GTB-IIJ bass neck, 24 (medium jumbo?) frets, plus and 'end piece'. 2 tuners per side, black hardware and nut. Frets in reasonable condition, tuners seem to turn OK. Looks like rosewood fretboard. Mark on the back of the neck is mostly superficial and doesn't seem to obvious when you run your finger over it. A bit of a dink on the end of the headstock. Pictured as best I can. Most importantly, the truss rod seems to turn both ways with the appropriate amount of resistance but have not installed this neck, so it's a bit hard to gauge what effect it has. Headstock and tail end are a (faded) pearlescent white. Seems pretty scruffy and needs a proper scrub. IMO, was on a bass that was painted while neck was attached. Found this on Reverb, that seems pretty close, though doesn't have quite the same pearlescence from what I can see. https://reverb.com/item/22609495-aria-pro-ii-gtbiij-1980-s-white £30 collected from East Herts or plus postage of about a tenner, I guess. No trades.
  22. I had one of these a few years ago in white. I can testify that they sound superb, the pickups are excellent. A better version of the jazz body IMO, very comfortable to play.
  23. C'mon, the suspense is killing me! I shiver with antici.... pation
