1. Mind you, having a brief re-think about it, I guess it very much comes down to what genre you play primarily. I mostly play blues with some rock and pop thrown in depending on the gig. I play everything in the bedroom as I like to keep well rounded. I don't like fuzzes for playing faster things as, in my humble opinion, they get messy and lose definition (even the nicer ones with blends and the like). Personal taste I guess. I prefer something grindy if I need dirt for something faster like prog or metal. When I think fuzz I think of 60s tracks, early 90s alt-rock, stoner/doom metal. Not that I'm trying to stay in the box, just my personal taste (then again, I'm not a fuzz guy at heart! )
2.
He's certainly not as bad as that guy who plays slap bass WHATEVER pedal he uses, which is especially pointless for fuzz pedals
Most definitely. Excane isn't bad, I just tend to find myself getting frustrated when he gets carried away with fast doodling.
3.
amusing, as excane's playing is so annoying to me I can't listen to his demos
I agree. He demos some nice gear and the videos are great quality but he plays too many notes for my taste. Not being boring and miserable, I just like to hear how notes decay and if there are any envelope qualities going on between notes like swells of gain or changes to texture.
4. If I could, I would. I've wanted a Euro 4LX for years now.
5. From what I can see he does some fine work, that man
6.
The Talkbass threads on this pedal are rather amusing, so many people gushing over it and ready to hand their money over before they've even heard clips! Very interested to hear both of these though, I wasn't aware of Spencer's either! My favorite fuzz so far is the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine - only reason I would get rid of that is if they brought out a better/smaller version!
I don't go to Talkbass much anymore because the effects board is home to a few tits who annoy me =\
7. Just to clarify I don't mean to sound mean, my comment was a bit like, it's good but could be better. I'm sure those guys will grow up to be pretty talented musos.
8.
I hate these kids
Respect for playing that well at that age but that performance felt like it was dragging and the phrasing could be a lot better in parts.
9. Yup! I'd say it's the best Adult Swim animation... beating the usual ATHF, Venture Bros. etc. It only ran for two seasons so you can watch the whole thing in like two hours
10. BTW, in case anyone is confused, "You're Doom" is a reference to a rather hilarious series called Frisky Dingo. Quick summary to this gag: an alien super-villain called Killface has built a massive engine to drive the Earth into the Sun but because he's blown all of his money on making this machine he doesn't have the budget to broadcast his evil plot globally so he resorts to making ten thousand post cards which backfires: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OYA_rNgGjg
11. Oh that is nice, isn't it? If I could I would but I've just had to buy a new car. Good luck with the sale matey
12. The difference between the two is something almost subtle; you can dial in a usable tone with the B3K easier than the B7K but with some tweaking the B7K produces a broader range of tones that sit in a live mix better. Not to disparage the B3K but I had an extra inch or two on my board so I figured why not? They're both excellent drive pedals.
13.
With thanks to Kevin who's selling a US one on here, the differences are that the US one has a 'soft touch' bypass switch and when bypassed the US one keeps the EQ in circuit whereas the Finnish original doesn't. Peter
That's not accurate; the EQ and dirt circuit are bypassed on the US version too, the main difference is there's a buffer in the bypass to power the DI whether the effect is on or not.
14. That colour is amazing! I'd love that with a pearloid scratchplate.
15. I tried one of these a few years ago and was actually blown away. Average action but the one I tried was very resonant and had a healthy P-bass growl. I was tempted to dip into the overdraft to grab that one there and then. Same colour too. Good luck with the sale
16. Glad to hear you installed with ease One word of advice for these; when you tune your low E and then drop to D and move back up, the E will be slightly sharp. So, I find it best to tune the E very slightly flat, check the tuning of the D and then it's usually bang on when brought back up. Once it's tuned it'll stay in tune, you just have to make sure to check the E as above.
17. In that case I'd put the price drop at the top of your first and leave the original asking price field as is.
18. Also, the Tone Hammer isn't hi-fi sounding in my opinion. This is good for me but others may be disappointed.
19. I'm a big fan of the TH 500. Its tone is almost ideal for me; warm, punchy and with present (but not unpleasant) high end. If you've tried one and found it lacking some trebley-snap, I'd recommend checking the cab you're using to see if you can increase the level of the tweeter/horn. I find using a TH500 and a pair of DB112s I can find warm, wooly tones or growly, aggressive clank from playing with the EQ and with the crossovers on the back of the cabs.
