The Velcro brand stuff is great. I've used normal and heavy duty over the years and it's always worked well (actually just ordered some 50mm tape from Amazon thanks to this thread as I'd run out although the 20mm isn't bad from what I remember). Beware of the cheap stuff though! Once or twice I've bought white velcro tape that was a bit cheap and the adhesive came off the back rendering the tape pointless.

Hi guys, Up for sale is my Darkglass B3K. I'm sure most of you are very familiar with this pedal but if not it is an EXCELLENT overdrive/distortion that leans on the side of aggressive. This pedal really growls and it has been on my board for quite a while now. The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm after a B7K as I've got room on my pedalboard now to fit one on. This pedal is in great condition and comes with its original box (pedal is practically mint with velcro on the bottom). I'm after [s]£145[/s] SOLD posted for this. Feel free to ask any questions and the like. Again, this is a wonderful pedal and I really don't see me going without a B3K or B7K on my board in the future. Cheers! Bob.

My first gigging rig was a MAG300 head with a 4x10. It had no power and was completely unable to keep up at gigs. I sold it to another bass player. 12 months later it blew up at a gig. I used an ABM500 for a good few years which was a nice enough head. Thick, warm tone and had some snap to it when required. It wasn't amazing but the tone was pleasant and it sat in the mix well. Had it serviced several times though, once due to noise issues and another time to replace all the pots. Never REALLY liked the sound until I ditched the Ashdown 4x10 and moved onto Aguilar 112s. Then I moved onto a 550 Spyder which actually sounded nicer to me than the ABM500. It served me well for a good while until I started to fancy something more flexible. After selling the 550 I bought a TH 500 which I am absolutely in love with. I don't see me ever going back to Ashdown again. I'd also like to point out that some of the artists that endorsed Ashdown have moved onto other rigs. Adam Clayton moved onto Aguilar and I'm sure I saw a picture of Mark King using a different rig... TC Electronics I think?

Tuner, Thumpinator (as it's the only buffer in my chain and it does its thing well), OD and compression (I could live without this but I always like to have a decent compressor at hand as it can prove invaluable in some situations). I like a little touch of grit for some songs I do and it helps fill the sound out a bit for when our guitarist drops out to solo.

Took the Tone Hammer 500 on its first gig tonight. It sounded great... and deceptively LOUD

I like to put preamp style pedals last in the chain but as Si says, experiment a bit and where it sounds best to you is where it should be

My Rickenbacker 4003... initially. I really struggled to get used to its shape and style after using P basses since I started playing. Once I took off the pickup cover it became a lot easier to play. Then I started to develop a floating right hand which actually improved my technique on the rest of my basses (up until then I'd anchor my thumb to one spot). It's a very playable bass now but certainly no Fender!
so this means you won't be buying my fuzzrocious rat tail, or you will?
Alas! Unfortunately I've never heard a clip of a Rat, clone or otherwise that I've liked *For diplomacy's sake, not that there's anything wrong with Rats, just not my bag of tricks
ha - started browsing this thread at half time in the footy and had to go play my TFR! i think i'm the opposite to Ant, love low gain o/d and muffy fuzz, but distortion doesn't do that much for me. why the hell did I just buy a sodding rat tail!!! another pedal heading to the classifieds soon!
Without sounding creepy, I've noticed that we've shared a similar taste in pedals and dirt for quite a while lol. I like my B3K set to low-medium gain but I do like to crank it up along with the treble with a P bass, pick and fresh rounds for those Takeshi Ueda moments

I've used a Dual Tube 550 Spyder for a good while. From my understanding the only difference is the 330 uses a MAG power section while the 550 uses an ABM power section. It's been a good head. Not a great deal of versatility. A bit of a one-trick pony but you can add or remove treble, mids and bass to that sound. And it is a very good trick that it does I've gigged mine for nearly two years and have never had any problems. Seems solid enough and has given me no issues. Currently selling it if you're interested

I found that running the B3K into the fuzz produced a fuzz that was more prone to glitchy sounds due to the accented high end. I like to treat the B3K as the front end of an amp; for some applications I use it as an always on tone and then the fuzz's reaction to my playing remains the same but colour is changed by the B3K. That said, I like to run the B3K into a BB sometimes to add some mids and warm up the sound while maintaining the B3K's grind (sounds more muddy running the BB into the B3K). I wouldn't use the TFR and B3K for the gigs I'm doing as the sound is too extreme and scooped. It would make an awesome tone if I was playing in something heavier, or as a two piece.
-
Also, I really how the TFR's character can change depending on what you run it into. Here's a rough clip I recorded running the TFR into a B3K (P bass with dead strings): https://soundcloud.com/bigbassbob/girltfrb3k

I got mine from Prymaxe's eBay store. I used to have a PPB and I still have a Tri Pie 70. This is all in my humble opinion but I think the TFR is the best out of the three for bass. The PPB was a pretty sick fuzz but a bit too... not harsh, but synth-like? Amazing pedal but it didn't really fit with my current projects. The Tri Pie 70 is also great but it shines more with guitar than bass. Certainly not unusable by any means. The TFR has a special something in the low mids. When I tried it out on a recent gig I could feel the low end punching the back of my knees with each note (pretty much the same as when I was playing clean) while the fuzziness just filled everything else. It was perfect for making the whole band sound bigger.
-
I'd also like to add that it was not intentional at all. I felt like I needed something a bit more growly and aggressive in my collection and after taking it out on a few gigs the Stingray just seems to be the one that calls to me for this band.
-
No pics but just wanted to update and say that the 2 band Stingray I got from Higgie last year has become my main player in my blues trio. Still love the precisions and Ric, but the 'Ray sits in the mix wonderfully. Using the Ps for another project.
Nice choice. They'd be mad to.. I have the TH500, but now really need some DB' 12's to go with it. Edit, you might be better off posting this in the items wanted section.
Funnily enough I have some DB112s and I'm after a TH500
