I've never encountered a moment where I was wishing for more power and I've never pushed this amp hard. Obviously with its use it has a few aesthetic nicks and the like which I've tried to capture in the photographs below (a few nicks in the vinyl and the rubber at the edge of the plastic handle has started to split due to the design but it's not peeling away and still works just as it should). There are no noisy pots or any other issues with performance I've replaced the stock Shuguang 12AX7Bs with a NOS Telefunken ECC83 and an Electro Harmonix ECC82. While changing the tubes around doesn't produce a night and day difference, I feel that this amp sounds best with this combination. However, I will also include a handful of preamp valves for you to try out: The stock tubes are the two on the left and there's a JJ ECC83s in the EHX 12AU7/ECC82 box. Thanks for looking! Bob.
2. Shem just picked up a Korg DT10 from me. Clear comms, prompt payment and a hassle-free experience. Would definitely recommend!
3. Phil just bought my MXR M87. Great comms, VERY prompt payment. A no BS transaction, just like it should be Would be more than happy to do business with him again.
4. Worth a try Out of curiosity, is there any low end loss at all with the EQ controls at noon? I really love my Xotic BB but just recently I've been tempted to try something similar but with a different gain structure.
5. Ah so I take it a Tri Pie 70 is out of the question?
6.
How is the Pwnzor?
Here's some brief thoughts copy pasted from a a convo I had with someone over at Talkbass: I'm no connoisseur of compressors; my first compressor was an EBS Multicomp, then I tried a few different pedals before going back to the Multicomp. Afterwards I changed to the MXR. The feel of the Pwnzor is more reminiscent to that of the EBS. This is probably due to the low ratio of both pedals and relaxed attack speed. That said, it doesn't impart its own sound on your tone as much as the EBS did and I have more control of the Pwnzor. The MXR didn't add anything really to my sound and acted, in comparison, as a limiter more than anything else. The noise floor is lower with the Pwnzor than the MXR (with my own equipment). If you want clinical, fast compression the MXR is a great choice. If you want something that adds a bit of extra "oomph" to your sound I'd pick the Pwnzor; what it does is subtle but adds a touch more life to my sound. This isn't a great example but I recorded a short clip today to show a friend what compression does to a bass' signal: https://soundcloud.com/bigbassbob/pwnzor First run through is without the Pwnzor, then with. As the last note decays I turn the Pwnzor off and back on intermittently to show how a compressor can take a quiet signal and amplify it while keep spikes in check. Recorded with a Stingray > Pwnzor > OLD Hartke 20 watt combo > SM58 I really like the Pwnzor so far, but I have been able to distort it by digging HARD with my my hottest output basses. So long as I don't dig in like that (which I'd never do in a live situation) I'm quite confident that this will be a permanent member of my board. Just need to try it on some upcoming gigs
7. I've been eyeing these up lately and I'm starting to get GAS. If I can sell a few more bits (and then my current amp) I'll probably pick one up

10. I'm just going to point out that this is the wrong forum for selling stuff.
11. Bump for additional items and price reductions!
12. I need some more time to get acquainted with the Pwnzor as I haven't been able to run it through my gig rig. I will be testing it on a gig next weekend though. Initial impressions are positive. It's definitely a different animal to the M87... slower attack speed and has a far more natural feeling response. Definitely a compressor designed to beef up your sound. In comparison I'd say the M87 acts like a limiter. I tried the BB into the B3K and Tall Font. I liked how you can push the Tall Font into another level of fuzz but I preferred the response of the B3K being first in the chain. Running into the BB first muddied things up a touch whereas the running it afterwards adds some warmth to the B3K, some mids and accentuates the high end attack.
13. It seemed like the most sensible thing to do. Those Daka-Ware knobs look cool but being all-black against an all-black pedal makes reading settings at a gig impossible.
14. I've not tried the Tall Font after either pedals because I like the way the B3K changes the tone of the fuzz and I like how the BB can add some extra midrange to the B3K (I like the high-end attack the B3K has and this gets accented and warmed up by the BB). I'll give it a go at some point but how would you guys describe the B3K and BB running into the Tall Font?

16. Bump for price reductions.
17. Sold a Fralin pup to Zig. Lovely guy, great comms and fast payment. Would do business with again
18.
Ace board dude!!! Compressor always on?
Depends on the gig. For quieter work (acoustic and folk gigs) I like to use it as an always-on limiter. 90% of the time I use it to boost and smooth out slapping and tapping.
19. Bump with price drops!
20. Thanks Gaz I tried a few combinations of the signal chain but I find that I like to use the BB much in the same way as I used the W&C Phat Phuk; as a mild dirt to boost everything else in the chain. Adds some mids to the B3K to give it a more old school sound.
21. Finished putting this together today: I'm rather happy with my setup right now
22. I'm going to echo Gaz' sentiment and say that this is a great pedal for a GREAT price. I'd snap this up if I didn't already have one on my board. 'ave a bump on me.
23. Hi guys, Fortunately I was able to sell some gear locally so I've decided to withdraw this for the time being. With regard to questions: yes, this is a MIM instrument but it certainly seems to be a better instrument that the previous incarnation of the Hoppus sig. Having the D+G side of the pickup closer to the neck does provide a deeper tone with less punch. I'd say it takes a bit of punch out of fingerstyle playing but when you use a pick, the attack is still present due to the high treble of the Seymour Duncan and the tone is a little more complex than a standard P-bass. Thanks for looking and thanks for your interest Cheers, Bob.
