  1. So a month on, still really enjoying it - bonus is it looks good enough that it gets permission to stay in the living room! The tone is good - but I want more from it. Now the original plan was a the rail humbucker in a Ray position, still think that could be fun - but do I save the routing and put the humbucker where the current pickup is. I was planning on getting a new pickguard anyway...
  2. Haven't compared the DRs but they will be very different. Closer to flats but due to the nylon coating they do feel different. You get a brighter tone, lower tension and zero finger noise.
  3. Had the Coppers on my Yamaha BB425 and now on my Sandberg, love the tone and the feel. Reckon I would go full bright white next time I buy them. Only downside is they are fairly thick.
  4. I'd probably sell the Electra if I'm honest so roughly £400. Don't get me wrong the Electra is great but I don't think I'm a P Bass guy and the Bronco will do that if I need it.
  5. So here I am with a Sandberg Electra VM4 (P bass) and a Squier Bronco (Smol P Bass) both picked up very recently and I am now bored. I like the tone but when you are home bassist who just noodles at home a one pickup bass just doesn't quite cut it. So where to next? I recently sold a BB425 and I do miss the low B and just the feel of the wider neck, I've only briefly had a 6 string and it didn't get much attention as it had a pickup issue which i just couldn't solve so is now the time to try again? Having had a quick look, Ibanez seem to be the easiest gateway to the 6 string world unless happy to hear of others experiences with the first foray into 6 stringers. Also, I think a general thread of how people use their 6 strings and what they like/don't like about them could be useful as I can't be the only bassist interested in making the change and a one-stop-shop would be useful for a reference point
  6. You've definitely jinxed it now 😅
  7. Any love for the Bantam? Not that I'm buying one, just think they look nice and don't seem to get much attention rounds these parts
  8. I was going to suggest just these - I have the Nylon Coppers on a Sandberg Electra and before that they were on a Yamaha BB425. Plenty of treble gets through and zero finger noise and definitely lower tension. Only thing is the guages tend to be a bit heavier due the the nylon coating. I believe the whites are brightest of the range available with gold and copper being warmer.
  9. That was a top quality day out! Getting to see Santana and Clapton with my Dad was pretty special 😁
  10. Yeah, 210 is very thick - but I appreciate the tech that makes it possible. If I got one I would definitely investigate an octave circuit built in as I can definitely see that being useful for noodling, especially since it could have a built in headphone amp.
  11. Well yes, but these can be had cheaper than $1400. But even if these $200 you could get a normal bass for cheaper. I just find the technology and design going into these wee basses interesting and fun! 😁
  12. And here you go. It works. I'm not sure how, but that sounds like a bass to me. Headphones recommended. Edit: the bass is also in drop D.
  13. I guess this good thing about not being 100% sure about limited edition finishes is that you should be able to pass it on to someone else fairly easily @sirmuppet
  14. I completely appreciate and understand your opinion, but this bass wasn't made to impress you or anyone else really, apart from John Myung 😅
  15. So I've been keeping my eye on these as I think they could be a great tool. I've asked if they think they could put in an octave circuit so when plugged in you could have it sounding like a normal bass, they said it could be done. But now Kemp Strings have gotten involved. They did some very fancy research about lumping and make the best sounding strings, and he has made a set of strings that sound at normal pitch on a 16" scale. The E is 210... Haven't seen a video but if they say it works, it will probably work!
  16. Yeah, you might as well throw the money down the toilet. That's a big ol' scam.
  17. So...buy a normal Bongo This isn't made to sell loads - it's to show off what EBMM can do when asked and to show what John asked of them.
  18. The guys presenting style is a bit stiff, but he goes through a lot of affordable models and he thinks this a great bass. Skip to 1:45 for playing.
  19. I'm pretty sure this was discussed a while back when Yamaha did a live stream. Miki plays in the style of Flea and liked the active Flea signature, Yamaha wanted him to keep playing Yamaha so made him that bass as a one off. Don't see it being a production model.
  20. It's a no for me but it's interesting to see Ernie Ball really entering the signature model game. Yes they will be overpriced but at least they aren't just standard models in a particular finish, they seem to have original features that are actually designed for the artist.
  21. I'm the same, had the choice between the new and older shape. Went new shape as apparently the balance is better but I'm sure the quality is the exactly the same. Great P Bass alternative.
  22. What shape is yours @stewblack? If it is the same as the current shape then yeah, that's confusing but if it's the older more traditional P shape then they must have done them in burst but not the new shape
  23. I'll second that - I picked one up the other week and going between that and my recently finished Bronco project the Electra feels so much nicer. I am tempted to get a Humbucker and make it a proper VM4 but it's great for now!
