  2. I used to have a similar problem. I took a leave from dimebag darrell's book, and started to use tortex picks (1.14/ purple) and use a Stanley knife to score the sides which leave the sides much easier to grip and keep still in your fingers
  3. Some nice sounds there. Definitely need to try one now!
  4. I had a chance to ab them earlier today. The fuzz is very similar if not identical. The Dlx though seems to have more mid content than I would expect from a big muff ( although not by a huge amount) It sits in a mix much better than the bbm. The blend control works wonders here, rather than the fixed blend of the bbm. The crossover needs to be set carefully though or I found it tended to sound a little nasal in the mix. I settled on a setting as it turns out quite close to one of the sample settings in the little brochure/ leaflet. IMO its worth it's £89 to me, just to have useful muff sound, although for my main band I think the bfd will be staying on my board. As a standalone fuzz for an 'average' band content wise- definitely worth a good look
  5. What once looked interesting ....... But no more Seems to be another fuzz pedal sold as overdrive Thanks for posting ahpook
  6. When I get the chance I'll a/b them
  7. I've just noticed it has a direct out jack on the input side.
  8. Apparently the di doubles the output socket. I already have the originally bbm, the bfd (which tbh is its main competitor for space in my rig) And a couple of other fuzzes. It takes what the bbm does and improves it drastically. Changeable blend, adjustable gate, the crossover is nice too- making it footswitchable just makes sense to me I'm not really a fuzz addict, but really just lookin for the right sound to fit my band mix
  9. So, I tried one today at stompbox, and left £90 lighter. ( if only losing weight were so easy!) This thing Is awesome! The controls mean you can sculpt the sound in lots of ways. I found a lovely gnarly fuzz sound with tons of low end and seemingly no huge scoop. I'll certainly be firing it up at this weekends shows and then report back! My Christmas pressie to myself!!
  10. Really looking forward to trying one. Gonna have to wait a while though
  11. I use the really wide ones- about 3" I get them from eBay. Last pair cost me about 4 quid delivered
  12. Found that one here - http://www.djmmusic.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=RCG700-9-DB
  13. Tbh if there was a cheaper alternative, you wouldn't be seeing so many of the darkglass pedals
  14. Peavey used to make one. Not sure if they still do tho. A quick search on google shows nothing though
  15. If you can find them, there was the Marshall DBS 7152 ( Iirc) and the peavey 'big one' (?) They had both a 15 and 2 10s. They won't be light though.
  16. It works with bass ok, but you'll need to check the operating frequency. They changed earlier this year meaning that previously free to use channels are no longer available. There is a thread somewhere here detailing the changes and implications
  17. The yt clip won't work for me - what's the title of the song dude?
  18. Id seen those too. They look quite interesting
  19. And to add, The bdi is a clone of the sansamp, so of you weren't too keen there I'd avoid
  20. Ok. I've spent some time with both my vxl and m80. Both will do exactly as You ask. Di out and then from the parallel out on the right below the input to your gk for your clean sound. Btw the mxr can definitely do it too
  21. I find 'bass guitar' by Gregory and vinson to be really good There is a natural progression to what you learn and although it starts with blues and moves on to soul, all the basics are covered well
