  1. " In Penny Lane, the barber shaves another cooooostooomer" Penny Lane - The Beatles John, making no attempt to hide his Scouse accent.
  2. Although it didn't get selected, Radiohead's song for Spectre is utterly spellbinding.
  3. Stainless Steel over Nickel - You can always tone down the harmonics/brightness, but you can't add it.
  4. License to Kill - Gladys Knight. Epic!
  5. My old AH300 GP12 SMX is my all time favourite bass head. So much punch and guts!
  6. I have this exact bass in the same colour. One of the first ones built in mid 2002. Great bass with a very playable neck, with a really funky, middy tone. The pickup has a very low output though. It's very well built and finished with an extremely stable neck.
  7. I recall seeing an interview a while back where he stated he recorded the whole album with his SS1. I think that's borne out by listening to the album as on the whole it sounds like a SS1 and not really P-bass-like (although he did use one live and for the odd track on the first two albums).
  8. Best bass guitar ever made, period. They have clarity, focus, and a distinctive, peaky, mid-growl that no other bass can get near. This is a cracking price for one of these. I paid a fair whack more for my 97 Flea. Glwts!!
  9. My Musicman USA SUB is made of Poplar. Sounds like a Musicman. 🤷
  10. Apologies, this amp sold a while ago.
  11. MTD or Vigier for me.
  12. Always been SS for me. Nickel are nowhere near as rich tonally or have enough harmonic content for me. Plus every nickel set I've ever used (varying brands), I seem to kill very quickly. It's all about the Piano tone!

Been playing 16 years, rehearsing and gigging regularly and I also am callous free!
  14. That might actually be worse looking than a Bongo.
  15. They're both absolutely vile.
  16. Fell from the top branch of the ugly tree, struck a particularly springy bottom branch and bounced back up to repeat the process. 🤢
  17. I used them for my first 2-3 years of bass playing until I understood there were other string brands. 😁 They eat your hands, eat your frets and die quicker than any other string I've tried, usually after one gig. Started using D'addarios and Elixir (when flush) and have never looked back!
  18. For me, Power Windows by Rush. A Wal MK1 and Geddy Lee. It's a match made in heaven. Twangy, rubbery and aggressive as sin.
  19. Check out Walter Gervers from Foals. Brilliant bass player. A lot of Foals tracks have very melodic bass, Blue Blood being one of my favourites.
  20. I've been thinking the same recently, there are a crazy amount of bargains in the for sale sections that aren't selling, whereas in the not too distant past, you'd see a lot more movement on stuff. I think, anyway.
  21. I'd recommend the TC BG250 combo. Nothing touches that for the money IMO. It has an accurate onboard tuner and the toneprints are a huge plus, you could just about gig with one too!
  22. Not sure if it quite qualifies as 'super' rare but my 1997 Modulus Flea bass has the doodle signature headstock, string guides and original Lane Poor pickup. Non truss rod neck too, so it has the slimmer neck profile. Not too many of these around!
  23. 2x10 neodymium speakers 600 watt handling. 8 ohm Variable tweeter. Handmade in Holland 17kg (one handed carry) Retailing at £725 new. Had this up a while back but it's still not getting any use. Less than 6 months old in excellent condition. This cab has less than 15 hours playtime on it. Loud, smooth, detailed and clear sounding cabs. Perfect solution for smaller bar/club gigs. Collection only or meet up/delivery possible within a fair radius of Witney, West Oxfordshire. Will consider trade of a cheaper cab + cash my way. I'm very fussy though!
