Probably my favourite Bass Player. Love the tone she gets with the Pro Cardinal Bass.

Slightly off topic but my best friend had a Fernandes FR-75 guitar (MIJ) and it was, hands down, the most meticulously crafted instrument I have ever laid hands on. Extremely impressive. I've always liked the Gravity series basses, one is on my list to procure one day! (pretty sure Robert Trujillo used these around the time he joined Metallica).

For me it's ;

The CS Pino wins by a long, long way for me. His settings on the Ray were not a good representation of what they can do in the context of a track like this. Treble boosted way too much.

I've ran my BH550 through Markbass, Ampeg, Hartke, Gallien Krueger, TC and now Epifani cabs. It sounded best with the K-Series TC cabs.

Things I visually can't abide; Single-cuts Ramps Those weird hair ties that people put behind the nut. 6-strings+ Musicman Bongos / Stingray 5 Warwick Vampyre (the ugliest bass aside from the Bongo) Sunburst of ANY kind (eugh) Metally looking basses, pointy headstocks. (Although my Flea is dangerously close to this 😂) Expensive basses that try to look like Fenders. Sadowsky et Al. (this is in no way a slight on quality or sound)

The only bass I've ever heard get close to the Stingray tone is the G & L Kiloton.

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye. James Jamerson perfection. The greatest Bass line of all time IMO.

I totally agree. My USA SUB (in ultra-rare BLACK! ) is starting to get played more than my Flea at this point in time. They really are wonderful basses and weirdly, still somewhat slept on. My main issue was with the 'rare aquamarine' statement. It doesn't take more than 2 minutes of google research to see this clearly is not a rare colour and probably the most common colour I've seen them in.

Weird, as for such a relatively well known model, I've never seen anybody use one in 17 years of gigging or even seen one in a shop.

Actually no, that colour would be Teal and they're really quite common in that colour. Extremely optimistic pricing if you ask me. Looks clean though and they are wonderful basses.

Trompe Le Monde by The Pixies. Hated it at first. Now my favourite Pixies album!

I've had a BH550 for 4 years now. I've played dozens, if not hundreds of gigs and it hasn't missed a beat. Tonally it's seen off every other amp I've ever played through (a fair few highly regarded ones). It has such a clear and composed tone that I'd describe as 'Studio' tone on stage. It was loud enough for most stages at 8 ohms through one cab and absolutely incredible through two at 4ohms. Good call on the RS cabs, I've used Markbass, Gallien Krueger, Ampeg and Epifani cabs with it but it always sounded best with the 2 2x10 K-Series cabs I had (for which it was designed). Enjoy!

I've used a lot of strings and I'd say Dunlop Super Brights are your friend. By far the softest stainless steels I've used. Try a lighter gauge if you can, it'll be easier/gentler on your hands further to this.

It was Stuart Zender for me. The bass breakdown in the song 'Travelling Without Moving'. I had to play the instrument that made that funky sound. Hearing that back in 2003, I went out and bought my first bass. He's continued to be my number one influence and the bass player to me that encapsulates everything a bass player should be about. His iconic Warwicks in tow, with tone for absolute days and utterly sublime feel and groove. He always shone brighter in the live Jamiroquai gigs than he did on record, which is saying something. It was such a shame what happened there with him and the band in general. So, thank you Stuart!

For what it's worth my 2007/8 Fender Geddy Lee stated 'Made in Japan' whereas my current Marcus Miller, dating from 2006-2008 states 'Crafted in Japan' 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I just understood it to be down to being made in different factories iirc.
