  1. The bulk of the music I listen to is predominantly rock, funk and disco but two of my favourite albums are Ten Summoners Tales and Mercury Falling. Yes he's full of himself and has behaved like a total walloper over the years but I think most successful musicians and songwriters have and can be. Fame and notoriety can give you an audience that you wouldn't have had were you not famous. Regardless of whether it's profound life changing stuff or complete sloblock.
  2. If you can take the grill off and pull the speaker out to check - if it's a 300w speaker instead of the factory fitted 200w one then it possibly used to belong to me. If it is then it will still be a Celestion but I can't remember the model
  3. The Behringer CS400 Compressor Sustainer when used on a passive bass can bring your entire sound to life
  4. The only thing that I would say that I am loyal to is D'addario strings. Basses come and go but they're always strung with D'addarios whether Chromes, EXL Nickels or Pro Steels. I can't see me ever using any other brand now
  5. I found the Bassbone that I am selling to be incredibly clean with a good range of tones. If I wasn't changing my setup to IEMs and just using my EMG Jazz bass with 3 band EQ straight into a DI box then I wouldn't be selling it.
  6. I did loads of research years ago as I'd been playing Chromes for a long time and wanted the softest, smoothest string but in round wound form. D'Addario EXL nickel plated were the ones and are still the ones I use for that very reason. I normally buy the EXL165TP twin pack from Amazon for around £30. I normally get between 7-9 wedding length gigs from them The pro steels are also really smooth for a stainless steel string
  7. They were D'addario Prosteels but I think that I had a new 130 B string that I used with a set of EPS165 - I tend to use the same guage of D'addarios
  8. I've used a lot of Trace gear over the years - one of the best combinations was an AH150 putting around 90 watts into a V-type 4x12". But those were trace watts, about 1 gigawatt* in new money * figure possibly exaggerated
  9. I think that he briefly played with Yes in the early 70s of which they were very proud of, hence the song from the Fragile album "We have Kevin"
  10. In November 2018 I bought my QSC K12.2 and started the progress of trying to find the best preamp to go with it. I tried the usual suspects - Behringer BDI21, Sansamp BDDI v2, MXR M80 but none of them gave me what I wanted. I found Radial Bassbone V2 and, although it was about the combined cost of all 3 of the preamps I had tried before, I thought I would give it a try. I wasn't disappointed. The clarity and punch it gave me was incredible. At the time I was using a 2019 US Fender Jazz and preferring the sound of both pickup volumes on full I was losing the mid-range but this pedal gave me everything back and more. Anyway it's a great 2 channel preamp which also features an effects loop, ground lift, boost/mute switch, tuner out, balanced XLR out and can also be set for use with Piezo pickups. Made in Canada and in pristine condition, it comes in it's original box with power supply, instruction manual and unused stickers. It also has 2 big strips of velcro covering the whole of the underside as it's built like a tank so this ensures that it won't come off your pedal board. The only reason that I am selling is that we have moved to IEMs and I fancy trying something different. Given the condition, the fact that I couldn't use it for around 18 months of the 2 1/2 years I've owned it and that these rarely come up I am looking for £180 or best offer. Looking at postage - UPS are quoting £8 for delivery but only covered for £20 insurance, to get it covered for the full value it would be £21. Royal Mail Special Delivery is £12 including up to £500 cover. Collection and meet up are also possible as well. Any questions please fire away The last picture shows the size of this on my pedalboard for reference
  11. I've decided to keep these on my pedal board as a reminder of why I shouldn't sell these as I'd only buy more in a couple of months. They're really good pedals and I just haven't given them a chance so they are staying and I will grow to love them dognammit
  12. As always whatever gear I have at the time is the right gear for the job
  13. The inputs, outputs and power supply are all mounted at the back of the pedal so you can get them really close together on your board.
  14. I think that there used to be a field where you had to state your location before you could place your ads but I didn't see it when I did this one but I do have my location underneath my avatar
  15. Another episode about to end in my love/hate relationship with effects pedals. I fancy trying them, buy them and then realise that I don't need them so here we go again. Bought brand new last August and have been gigged a handful of times this year so they're in minty fresh conditon. All 4 have had the small rubber feet removed and velcro added for pedal board mounting. Included are: 3rd Dimension Chorus - designed to Emulate the Dimension C from back in the day Blood Moon Phaser Tube Pilot Overdrive All are boxed and ready to go. Ideally I'd like to sell all 4 as a lot but could split them. They're only between £30-40 new so I would like to sell them for £75 plus postage. Buy them at the asking price and I will include the Compressor Sustainer for free (not sure if I have the box but it will be well packed)
  16. If I've dated this correctly then I have a February 1999 Yamaha RBX 765A for sale I bought this during the bad old times of 2020 as I thought that it would be good to have a 5 string should the need arise for me to have one but it hasn't and I doubt it will so I am offering it up for sale. Condition is really good for a nearly 23 year old bass. There is light swirling across the back of the body and a small amout around a couple of the cotrol knobs that I could only see when I held it up to the light but there are no dings or dongs anywhere on the body. There's a tiny chip out of the paint on the headstock but a touch-up pen or even red nail varnish should hide that. The gold hardware is looking pretty good. There are a few shallow indentations that I can't feel while playing at the back of the neck around the 9th fret. The pictures make it look like it's bright red but it's a darker shade of translucent red. The last picture of the headstock is the closest to the actual colour Soundwise it's pretty snappy. I've had it doing a good impression of Flea & Rhino but there's plenty of scope for adjustment using the onboard EQ. It's nice and light, for me anyway. I don't have anything to measure it by but it was incredibly comfortable for the first set of a gig I took it out for just to try it out live. I have a functional gig bag to carry it around it which will be included and it has a new Duracell battery and D'addario Prosteels fitted. I would prefer pickup or meet up but I do have a box that I could package it up in if you're too far away to do either. I am looking for £225 or closest reasonable offer and would prefer bank transfer to avoid PainPal fees Although I've posted over 100 basses plus amps, cabs etc it has been while so I don't know how quickly they're delivering at the moment and the prices seem to have gone up since the last time. I normally use UPS and they are quoting me £40 for delivery. Any questions please fire away. And now for the pictures:
  17. I've just checked my account and I registered in November 2016 - this is the first time that I can recall that they've done this offer
  18. Take your Daughter to the Slaughter - Iron Maiden All joking aside, this is actually the first dance song choice for next weekend's wedding
  19. I'm going to be trying out a set of their coated strings courtesy of this offer
  20. Try to keep your fingers and hands as loose as possible. I have a tendency to get really hyper during a gig and play far too hard. Avoid sugar like the plague as i have found that this can make it worse. Caffeine too as it can dehydrate you - you need to drink as much fluid as you can. Also avoid peanuts as they can cause a flammatory response in your wrists and joints. The downside to this is that I enjoy coffee and wedding cake during the gig so have had to knock that on the head Plus what Andy said above. I don't pick up my bass at home unless I have a song to learn or strings to change
  21. The most I've paid for a ticket was Jerry Lee Lewis maybe 5 or 6 years ago - in fact it was for his 80th birthday tour. £90 a ticket but we were 4 rows from the front and it was an incredible show. Most gigs are a huge wait followed by,usually, a bad support act followed by another long wait but they kept it going all night. Also got to see James Burton and Albert Lee. I tend to go for the smaller Academy sized gigs as it gives you the opportunity to get closer and generally the sound is better as well. I've seen Motorhead, ZZ Top, The Damned and the Frantic Four at the Glasgow one and will be seeing Skunk Anansie there next year. The tickets were something like £35 each. To be honest I think that for anyone who is a fan then this could very well be their last tour in the UK, apart from maybe some of the festivals, so now's the chance to see them. I've got some good memories of the shows, one of which was when we were in the venue but just outside the seated area at the SECC in 2002. It was still quite quiet as we'd arrived early. I heard a noise and turned around and saw Flea in a kilt with a cup of tea come out from behind a curtain, realise that there were people in the venue, before disappearing back behind the curtain again.
  22. I've ordered a set of XT nickel strings to try using the offer. £40 strings for hee haw sounds good to me
