    I settled on a Radial Bassbone Tonebone (that I am still using) as it gave me the sound that I wanted but I did try a Sansamp BDDI V2, Behringer BDI21 and MXR M81 before this

    Bought brand new on December 27th 2018 I have been using this as a monitor with my wedding/function band. One of the rare times I've actually put something up for sale that I didn't actually want to sell but I'm not going to be using it now so may as well free up the space in the house and give someone else the use of it. For about 17 of the past 36 months it has been sitting in it's tote bag due to obvious reasons but it has always been looked after, in common with all of my gear. I absolutely detest rough looking equipment and having given this a good look over it appears to be in as new condition, as does the tote bag. It's only ever been carried by me in my own car and hasn't been anywhere near the band van I registered it for the 6 year extended warranty but I don't know if it can be transferred or not. If it can then it's not up until 27th December 2024. I also did the firmware update on the QSC website as soon as I got it as well. Being a careful fellow I kept a hold of the box so I can ship this to anywhere in mainland UK. Delivery is coming in from £20 but might vary if you're in a remote area etc. It will be packed inside it's original box, inside the tote bag. I can have it collected by courier Monday to Thursday but could also arrange collection or meet up etc if you're close enough. Payment by bank transfer is preferred. Looking for £575 plus postage but am open to reasonable offers Any questions, please fire away.

    I normally play South Side of the Sky when I want to practice using a plectrum - same album but track 4. Alternatively Siberian Khatru from Close to the Edge is another winner for me

    Footloose. Although technically I was playing it as well. This was the first song we did after the bells. Rather than the dinner dance that we were booked for, the hotel modified the event to a sit down meal in the restuarant but it was the best that they could've done given the restriction currently in place. The first half was qute light as there were people still eating but we gave it plenty later on and finished with Uptown Funk to round off a really goog gig, all things considering For the first song actually heard and not performing it would be Canned Heat by Jamiroquai in the car on the way home

    One thing that I have recently discovered, at least to me anyway, is that flats sound terrible through IEMs. I've tried Chromes on my active Jazz and Roto 77s on my passive Precision and they're absolutely awful. They lack any kind of character and sound really wooly. I'm using my Radial Bassbone, Behringer P1 and KZ AS10 IEMs Put rounds on either bass and they come alive again. It could be simply because I'm using a set of £35 Ali Express IEMs but I'd rather spend £18 on a set of strings that I am happy with every 8 or 9 gigs than risk £1000+ with a set of custom IEMs that might still not give me what I'm after. BTW I'm really happy with the IEMs. Took a few gigs to get used to them but am really enjoying it now

    I'm still using, after nearly selling it, a Radial Bassbone Tonebone V2. I absolutely love it because I can change pretty much anything on it and it never sounds shrill or brittle. It has a whole array of things that I'll never use like adjustable input for a piezo pickup, effects loop and so on but it does exactly what I need it to do. I'm using it in conjunction with a passive Radial ProDI. At the moment I go from bass to effects and into the ProDi. At this point I take my feed out to the desk and then use the thru connection into the Bassbone. The out front sound is good but I'm not happy with what I hear coming back at me through the IEMs so I use the Bassbone to get the sound I like. I then use the DI out from the Bassbone into one input on the Behringer P1 headphone amp and the other input contains some drums, guitar, vocals and keyboard from the desk. I run the P1 in dual mono so everything is coming into both in-ears I'm about to start using a second bass so I may change the order of the DIs. I am planning to go into the Bassbone first, get the sounds that I want and get the level of both basses the same. The output will go into the ProDi and that will feed the desk. I'll use the DI on the Bassbone to go into my P1 as I still prefer the sound straight from there rather than the return from the desk The only mildly annoying thing about the Bassbone is that it runs at 15v. I would much rather run it through a multi power supply but I'm not ready to spend £200 on a power supply that'll do 15v In true bass player fashion, as well as having 2 DIs on my pedal board I also have a third backup of a Behginer BDI21 and a passive Art Di as well. just in case I am unlucky enough for 3 DI boxes go faulty on me at the same time 😁

    I have a Radial Bassbone that also runs at 15v. According to Radial you can use 18v but it reduces the life expectancy from 20 years to 18 years. I'm guessing that this is due to the extra heat produced (the supplied 15v adaptor gets quite warm as it is)

    You've actually given me something to think about. I've just made the move from a QSC K12.2 to IEMs and everything sounds different now so it may be time to try again

    I love the sound of passive precisions when played by others but I can never get a good sound out of them myself

    That's a relief. I hadn't noticed the picture of the back of the body so that's saved me some cash.

    I always use UPS to ship basses through Interparcel I also had one of these and was unlucky enough for it to develop a faulty preamp so I changed it all over to EMGs with the 3 band EQ that barely all fit inside the cavity. 2 9v batteries could be made to fit in the battery compartment by fitting them sideways

    I owned, one afer the other, an SR5 and a Sterling. Both had a ceramic pickup, both had the same EQ and they weren't even close in terms of sound. Yes they both sounded like aggressive ceramic pickup Musicman basses but the SR5 was definitely the gnarlier of the two with the Sterling being a bit more polite

    I'd been using my heavily modified Harley Benton 75JB for a couple of years and decided to have something special made around the hardware which is/was: US Hipshot Ultralite Tuners & Xtender on the E Fender high mass bridge EMG Jazz pickups with 2 band BTS system After watching Guy Pratt's lockdown videos, some of Guy's other basses, my enduring love for the Chilis and so on I decided on a Status Graphite Jazz neck and Warmoth body. The body is a chambered alder Dinky Jazz bass body with mahogany top, rear routed with double battery box and finished in satin Taos Turquoise. It's turned out even better than I could have hoped for. It's always a gamble putting something together without being able to see all of the components together until it's all been made and assembled but here it is:

    I've gone a bit overkill with my sound. I have Radial DI going straight to the desk so that the sound can be adjusted accordingly for the out front sound. Despite the sound out front being great I wasn't happy with what I was hearing through my IEMs from the desk aux send so I decided to run my Radial Bassbone from the through connection of the DI then take a DI lead into one of the inputs of my Behringer P1. (That's the one on the right with the Radial sticker on it) I'm running the P1 in dual mono so I have whatever sound I want coming in one side and the feed from the desk with everyone else that I want to hear coming in through the other one.

    If you have both pickup volumes up full then you don't get the single coil hum. I actually prefer the sound of both volumes on full or pickup balance in the middle and increase the mid-range on my preamp to compensate for the slight loss when you run the volumes like this. I use Tone Riders on my spare Jazz bass but EMGs on my main bass. They don't have to sound trebly and brittle, just listen to Guy Pratt playing Betsy on either his lockdown licks or some of his other work. I have a balsy, slightly aggressive tone with a set of standard EMGs and a 2-band BTS system. I actually run things pretty flat and use my Radial Bassbone to shape my sound

    I know that Rob and Dawn have been doing this for a long time - I wonder if the new ideas are selling up & retiring and they're mulling over their options?

    As far as I am aware they're just normal cables with special ends on them to help those who either can't solder or don't want to. I fall into both camps, I can do it if I need to but I don't really like to. My bass has a battery box so I had to solder the wires from it to the quick connect cables to power it. In fact the kit usually comes with heatshrink tubing so that you can solder wires together You'll be fine if you're happy to solder

    I go through phases between rounds and flats just for the hell of it and just because I can Currently favouring rounds since we started using IEMs but that's not to say I might change them in a couple of months to flats. I have about 4 or 5 sets of flats all carefully wrapped until the next time I fancy using them. I have a few sets of D'addario Chromes, 1 set of Rotosounds and a miscellaneous set that I think may be LaBellas And yes they are very shiny
