Not sure but I think hipshot and babicz are both £70+, will check out gotoh now, I can't find a badass 3 for sale anywhere.
Try the stratosphere on ebay. American company who take basses to bits and sell the parts. They've got some nice bridges at cheap prices and sometimes have badasses too http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-STRATosphere/_i.html?rt=nc&_nkw=bass+bridge&_sid=105525814&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14&_sop=2&_sc=1
I would look for a good condition used post 2008 American Standard , and the Basschat For Sale section is where I would look for it . Apart from being great basses , the added bonus would be that if for whatever reason you wanted rid , you could get your money back out of it with little or no depreciation .
Yup! That's what I'd do. And it will keep it's value too. The others will be worth a 3rd less than what you bought them new for as soon as you step out of the shop.

are there any super bands with poor bass players?
gjones replied to iconic's topic in General Discussion
I wondered if anyone would mention Noel He is my hero! Not the best but that is why I like him.
He never touched the bass again after Hendrix gave him the heave ho. He preferred guitar. -
Cannot believe these comments about Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding . They were an integral part of the sound of Hendrixs records and made a huge contribution to the enduring legacy of Hendrixs music . Noel took to playing the bass like a natural and played better than most other bassists of the era , and Mitch Mitchells agile drumming style acted as a foil to Hendrixs histrionics on the guitar .
Well there wasn't exactly a queue around the block to sign them up to play in other bands once Hendrix gave them the boot. -

Noel Redding was a guitarist who got lucky and joined Jimi Hendrix's band. His bass playing is duff. edit : and Mitch Mitchell was crap too. Supposedly Hendrix used to creep into the studio at 3 in the morning with other better musicians and record tracks - 'rainy day, dream away' being one of them where the bass is actually played on hammond organ by mike Finnigan and the drummer is Buddy Miles. -
Cheers, Nik. Here's an IV being played properly, by the man himself...
Nice. Never heard of these basses but love the sound on both your clip and this one. It has a very specific tone which doesn't sound like a Jazz or a P. Possible a bit like a musicman stingray with the hi end turned down. Have bump on me -
My amp/speaker/bass sound is not ideal ( for me ) and i'm looking for some help to squeeze out a tone thats suits me. Currently, the sound i get is too twangy, a smidgeon too gritty, with little in the way of low end oomph . I use a 2 x10 and 1x15, though not the setup i desire, its all i have. Preamp ( and FX ) is a Digitech BP8, and instead of the bass mid treble on regualr preamps, I got shelving EQ. ( bit confusing ) If any more info is required to make the suggestions, go ahead and i will post back Cheers
Buy a behringer bass graphic equaliser for £20 on the internet. It will give you a lot more EQ options than you have now.
Can't get enough of your love - bad company. More so during the corus than the verse.
Boz Burrel hated this bassline. In the early days of Bad Company he was no Andy Fraser (from free) and it is a bit 'clunky'. Maybe it's also because,as the years went by, he became a really excellent 'funk jazzer' and a much better all round bassist.
Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix One of the first I learned.
This was lesson one in my book of 'How to play bass' that I bought aged 16. Once I learned 'Hey Joe' I threw the book away.

I know a lot of rudimentary bassists and guitarists who spend stupid money on boutique instruments and amps (in the hope that spending money will make them sound better), when they'd be better off spending the money on a few lessons.

I feel your pain. I bet my drummer is worse than your drummer.
just changed my speakers on my Hifi so I've got all enthusiastic about listening to music again, the thing I've noticed if I turn the treble down on CD's they sound a lot better, almost like vinyl but with a little bit more clarity, anybody else do this?
I do it all the time. I don't like the unrealistic hi fizz of hi-hats and cymbals. Most albums these days are mixed for noisy environments like cars with extra lows and hi end added.

Replacing input jack on amp - anything I need to know?

Either unplug it first or wear rubber gloves. -

At Heel Truss Rod Adjustment Advice Please!
gjones replied to Billy Apple's topic in Repairs and Technical
You're right it is a faff. I recommend also putting a bit of tape around the neck at the bridge when you loosen the neck join and loosen the strings, so they don't come free from the machine head posts and you have to rewind them all over again (which is just more faff). -
I've bought and sold a lot of basses but I hate the nasal sound of Warwick thumb basses, so it wouldn't be a difficult decision for me. I'd keep the JV.

Oh dear Jimmy sounds pretty awful in this. I can see why they were reluctant to issue it.

When somebody says collection only I tend to believe that they're kosher. Although saying that......you're right about the sunburst.

The trick is to stop the drummer trying to play like Mitch Mitchell (i.e. a drum kit falling down stairs). I've played this song with many drummers and the best are the young guys who've never heard of Mitch Mitchell. They just get into a good groove and stick with it.

I had a set of wizard 64s in my bass for a while which certainly gave me that Jaco sound. I recommend them if that's what you're after.
