1.
Frank, you need to get out more. Trust me!
I second that emotion.
 2. Whoo Hoo. Hurrah for predictable junkie burglars!
 3.
Speaker arrived yesterday! Talk about service! I was told 20th October and it arrives 3 weeks early - fantastic. Im going to fit it today without any alterations apart from the cab being lined with acoustic foam. We "headline" a bike rally tonight so im going to run it today with the 25 Hz sine downloaded from barefaced and try it out tonnight, can't wait!
How did things go?
 4. Geddy Lee Jazz necks are very shallow. Certainly less than 23mm deep.
 5. It's what that guy from muse was playing on Jools Holland's show the other day isn't it?
 6.
I suspect a lot of the guitar forums out there are strewn with many members who are not on a progressive vibe with regard to helping each other out. Cheers in advance
I suspect you're probably right there (going by the guitarists I know).
 7. Great doing business with Will. He bought my j-retro and the whole deal was easy from start to finish.
 8.
The Ashdown MAG 115 deep cab is well built and very solid IME, the only reason I got rid of mine was the weight. I found it better tone wise than quite a few much more expensive, so called boutique cabs and I couldn't get it to rattle or buzz even at high volumes. But then, I don't go in for any upper mid or treble in my sound, so I can't comment on it's performance in that regard. Edited to point out that I didn't do anything to the ports when I fitted the Eminence 3015LF and there were no unwanted noises even at high volume.
I recently fitted an emminence Kappa 15 into an Ashdown cab and found it sounded excellent without any alteration. I suggest you fit the speaker and test it at volume before you even attempt any DIY. You may find you're very happy with the way it sounds and any further alteration is unnecessary.
 9.
a good lightweight cab i should say
I've played mine through a barefaced compact and it sounded great. But that'll cost you £540 and it will be a two month wait before you receive it. If I were you I'd go for a hartke hydrive 1x12 for a real lightweight rig. You can use two if you're playing a stadium.
 10. I believe you can ground the paint by attaching a wire from the ground loop circuit to a screw in the bottom of the control cavity and painting over it. My jazz had brass grounding plates under each pickup which I assumed connected to the earth loop that way. I have to say it did help to get rid of the hum considerably. Lots of good reviews here http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Supplies:_Shielding/Conductive_Shielding_Paint.html?offset=10&read=reviews
 11. The Ray 34 should be able to get a pretty decent range of sounds. I've had two Musicman SUB Stingray basses and I really liked the sound but I've also own a standard Squier Jazz bass which I love the lightness, thin neck, feel and sound of. None of the 4 other Jazzes I've owned felt as nice to play as my Squier even though they cost 5 times as much. I recommend you don't sell your Squier to pay for an American Jazz because you'll probably regret it (I've moved on my other Jazzes but I still have my Squier).
 12.
Thanks for tips everyone. This looks like a good idea for a first step: is it just a case of coating the surfaces of internal cavities, or does the tape need to connect electrically with the pickups and controls somehow? Sorry if this is a dumb question, this is the most advanced guitar maintenance I've ever considered
You can also use conductive, carbon based, shielding paint (which is the same type of stuff Fender use) which is easier to apply and was very effective when I used it on my bass. This is the stuff I used http://www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk/guitar-paint-and-lacquer/conductive-paint/conductive-shielding-paint.html
 13.
It's a free bump and a compliment, so no I don't find it in the least bit annoying. Quite the opposite in fact!
Wot he says.

 16.
I've just stuck some nylon tapewounds on my bass, and they've brought to light a grounding issue which was probably already there, but I never noticed it with ordinary strings. The bass has single coil alnico J pickups, the bridge is grounded and the cavities thoroughly screened with copper foil, all of which is grounded too. The problem is, if I touch the polepieces on either pickup when playing (easily done with my playing style), it hums. It's not as loud a hum as if I was touching the live side of a jack, but it's still enough to be irritating. If I don't touch the polepieces, there is no issue with hum, whether I'm touching the bridge or not. As these are typical fender-ish pickups, the polepieces aren't connected to anything, and I've verified this with a multimeter. I've also checked that the strings are grounding OK at the ball ends. I'm presuming that due to the non-conductive surface of the strings I'm not grounded when I play, and I'm acting as an antenna when I touch the polepieces. Rather than coming up with some Heath-Robinson contraption to ground my body, I suspect I'd be better off either grounding the polepieces by running copper tape across the backs of the pickups or covering the poles with something to insulate them (nail varnish?). Any thoughts on which to go for?
Hmmmmmm....I had this issue and ended up putting masking tape on the E polepiece (which was the one I tended to touch when playing). I recently bought a set of DiMarzios which have adjustable polepieces, which you can sink below the pickup cover and that also solves the problem. Alternatively, I notice some pickups have pickup covers that have no holes for the polepieces. a set of those covers fitted to your pickup would do the trick. These are the pickup covers http://www.ebay.co.u...1#ht_1335wt_864
 17. Zig bought my Jazz neck. Money paid instantly. Pleasure to do business with.
 18. Pssssst why not just fit the speaker in your Ashdown and if it sounds good and doesn't fart or make funny noises at volume..........just leave it there. Don't tell those other guys that I suggested this...........I might get into trouble.
 19. Sometimes I drop out in the middle of songs, just to see how long it takes for the other members of the band to figure out why they sound sh*t all of a sudden.
 20.
Sorry for any confusion, I thought this had already sold buy it's bumped tonight ?? I'm planning on fitting one im my Jazzer so interested if it's still for sale. Cheers Bud, Pete.
First buyer backed out so I put it back up for sale and gave it a bump tonight. Then somebody bagged it 5 mins later and it's now sold. Sorry for the confusion.
 21.
how much for the neck?
Sorry but the neck has now sold.
