It's basswood. Basswood doesn't have much in the way of a grain, so don't go too nuts with the sanding.

I think Fender decided that if you can't beat them........join them. Which is why they now licence factories all over the world to make Fenders/Squiers. Rickenbacker are not prepared to do that (for whatever reason).

I had the same with my Fender TV15 which had a tube pre amp. I couldn't get it to break up because the output on my Jazz wasn't hot enough.

Looking at that comment in context, he's saying that he finds bass guitar is difficult to record well. That's because the guitars are so bass heavy, in the metal genre, that bass guitar disappears in the mix. I assume that the guitarists he works with are not prepared to compromise on their 'sound' and take up less of the sonic spectrum.

Ashdown EB combos are cheap and loud.

The only time my heart sinks, when I go into a rehearsal room, is when there's a trace elliot amp in there. I can never get a decent sound from them. When I play at festivals, I've noticed that the amps the PA company usually supply are either Ampeg or Hartke. I would go for Hartke if I were you, mainly because I can always get a good clear sound from the HA series amps without too much messing around. I'd keep away from the Hydrive combos as they're a bit underpowered.

Yes in good condition £400. I bought one for around that price via basschat a couple of years ago.

It depends on the level of gig you're doing. If it's a pub gig in front of half a dozen drunks and you're getting £100 and a couple of free pints, it's ok. If it's a wedding or a corporate gig, then I doubt you'd be asked back if that was the bands attitude. I've played with bands as a dep where the songs sound nothing like the originals (sometimes because they're not even playing the correct chords). I personally think that if you're going to play music it should sound like you've put (at the least) a bit of effort into the end product.

Yes I saw this story. My niece is over in the states at this very moment recording her first album with her band Honeyblood. If you're going to fake something, why fake a silver series squier? He'd be better off sanding the silver series decal off and pretending it was a MIJ Fender.

[/quote] A lot of people are scared to get the screwdriver out and have a look. If his extension speaker works ok with it, then it should be just a wiring issue or a blown speaker. I do recommend anybody going to pick it up has a listen to the amp through the extension speaker though. Just in case.

It'll be a pretty simple fix. Worst case scenario is a new speaker which is easy to fit. I replaced mine and fitted a speakon while I was at it. It took about an hour of my time. By the way there's a guy selling a couple of eminence deltas 15" for £70 on basschat if you need one.
