Thanks! The 70s Staggs were significantly cheaper than the Gibson originals. It was cheap today as well, I bought it at the 2013 Gothenburg Fuzz guitar show for £170! Quality and soundwise this particular instrument is Gibsons equal, I think. Have tried to track down other early Stagg basses but without success, so I cant say if they were generally this good. Hi gjones, This was actually recorded at extremely low volume so the contribution of the amp, besides preamp distortion was kept to a minimum. How would you suggest to get a good comparison between basses with as little amp coloration as possible?
