1. Well done. Good price too. Just replied to your original NBD thread!
2. I had a black one since new when they first came out. Recently sold it though. Great bass and amazing build quality for the price. Stock pups were replaced years ago and fairly recently again EMG's. Had some great times with it. TBH since I got my Stingray I much preferred the neck and I used it less and less which is why I eventually sold it when I had a recent clear out. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours.
3. Welcome and enjoy the forum.
4. Is it any good for metal (toilets)? What about the elusive brown note!
5. As far as tone or sound goes I will use a pick if the original bassist did on the song we are covering other than than its pretty much just me doing my thing. Occasionally I might roll some treble off if needed ir make subtle changes. Edit. Another stingray one trick pony who employs similar techniques too!
6. Welcome to BC. Good introduction.
7. I hope you will be happy with your cover. I went for the padded one with the placeholder strap. The price does start adding up but I left it at that for the extras.
8.
I feel an irrational GAS for a 750 even though I already own the 450 dont need the extra power or features.
I feel like joining that club too. It was GAS that made me buy my 450 which is more than loud enough but the presets and pedal look interesting. Good luck with this.
9. Signed too. Let's keep this going.
10. I hope you are gigging with it soon and give more updates. The roqsolid cover is a good investment. Enjoy
11. I thought overall last night was slightly better than usual.
12.
hmmm, never had that sort of experience in Mansons, always very very good, sales and repairs, both excellent, mind you, its not a chain...
Me too. Glad it's the nearest music shop to me. Always great service.
13. ok for me too
14. Recently a very drunk bloke was talking to me after the gig and almost feel into the drums I caught him with both hands and very firmly walked him off the (level) stage area whilst still holding onto him.
15. Plucking hell. That triple neck looks a handful!
16. My SB 600 had a duff pup and I replaced it with a Seymour Duncan soap bar pup which sounds great. Can't tell you how different as I never had it with a working original.
17. All 4 of us have a share in the PA. We all go through it in some way or another. If I dont DI Then I have always got my backing vocals anyway. Guitar always Di's. Drums always has bass drum and sometimes overhead. Everyone is responsible for their own mics stands and XLR cables. Although the singer (or rather his parents) paid for a dual wireless SM 58 kit which I use one of. Works well for us. As mentioned you also need an exit strategy. In a previous band the same ownership applied and when we finished and the others went to do original stuff so I was bought out and got myself an EBMM Stingray which is my main bass. My current band hads the same exit agreement.
18. 29 years ago, that's nothing. I started 35 years ago. I'll catch up with you in 6 years time
19. Played at a few many years ago in Hong Kong. Both the singer and guitarist were in the forces so they arranged them. Most were a blast but sometimes we had to wait a while before playing. A couple of times we even had to wear dinner suits.
20. Never had a problem with my same Ray through TE or powerful class D heads, 15 or 2x10 cabs. As mentioned just make sure what you get is man enough for the job and it will sing.
21. Just had mine a few weeks ago and yes i played at my own party. We booked a regular gig at our favorite pub some time ago and we had the choice of dates as we are one of their favorite bands. The gig was on a Saturday night the day before my birthday. It does sound a strange idea but it was something i wanted to do. I also wanted to celebrate with some musical friends and have them as guests. The idea was also to get a few bass player friends up so i could take a few songs out so i too could watch the band. As it was the summer holidays a few couldn't make it but there was enough variety with drummers, vocalist and a bass player. It was quite a party as well as a gig. Needless to say i got quite drunk as i was kept topped up with JD. We have to do it all again in December as it's the guitarists 50th!
22. At my last gig I had a guest bass player for a few songs. I managed to get out around the pub and more so than during the soundcheck. The further I got the better my 2 10 sounded. I was very impressed. Plenty enough bottom end and clarity. I use my Ray which always sounds great through any rig. My TC classic 450 has to have the bass eq held back or it will be very boomy. Overall it works great for me and in this pub everything including the drums has to miced up. I'm going through the PA but barely turned up. The back line is doing the real work. The cab is horizontal generally unless I have very little stage space so it will be vertical.
23. I recently had EB strings on my Ray after getting the frets dressed and a setup done at Mansons. I was quite impressed with them and would consider getting them again. I also recently bought a new Sterling Sub that I guess had EB strings which also sound fine.
24. I have an EBMM Stingray which is of course fantastic. I also have a Sterling Sub. It looks and feels great with that jazz neck. As it's much cheaper than the Ray it doesn't sound the same but is still good value.
25. Great stuff. Hope the gig goes well.
