All 4 of us have a share in the PA. We all go through it in some way or another. If I dont DI Then I have always got my backing vocals anyway. Guitar always Di's. Drums always has bass drum and sometimes overhead. Everyone is responsible for their own mics stands and XLR cables. Although the singer (or rather his parents) paid for a dual wireless SM 58 kit which I use one of. Works well for us. As mentioned you also need an exit strategy. In a previous band the same ownership applied and when we finished and the others went to do original stuff so I was bought out and got myself an EBMM Stingray which is my main bass. My current band hads the same exit agreement.

Played at a few many years ago in Hong Kong. Both the singer and guitarist were in the forces so they arranged them. Most were a blast but sometimes we had to wait a while before playing. A couple of times we even had to wear dinner suits.

Never had a problem with my same Ray through TE or powerful class D heads, 15 or 2x10 cabs. As mentioned just make sure what you get is man enough for the job and it will sing.

Just had mine a few weeks ago and yes i played at my own party. We booked a regular gig at our favorite pub some time ago and we had the choice of dates as we are one of their favorite bands. The gig was on a Saturday night the day before my birthday. It does sound a strange idea but it was something i wanted to do. I also wanted to celebrate with some musical friends and have them as guests. The idea was also to get a few bass player friends up so i could take a few songs out so i too could watch the band. As it was the summer holidays a few couldn't make it but there was enough variety with drummers, vocalist and a bass player. It was quite a party as well as a gig. Needless to say i got quite drunk as i was kept topped up with JD. We have to do it all again in December as it's the guitarists 50th!

At my last gig I had a guest bass player for a few songs. I managed to get out around the pub and more so than during the soundcheck. The further I got the better my 2 10 sounded. I was very impressed. Plenty enough bottom end and clarity. I use my Ray which always sounds great through any rig. My TC classic 450 has to have the bass eq held back or it will be very boomy. Overall it works great for me and in this pub everything including the drums has to miced up. I'm going through the PA but barely turned up. The back line is doing the real work. The cab is horizontal generally unless I have very little stage space so it will be vertical.

I recently had EB strings on my Ray after getting the frets dressed and a setup done at Mansons. I was quite impressed with them and would consider getting them again. I also recently bought a new Sterling Sub that I guess had EB strings which also sound fine.

I have an EBMM Stingray which is of course fantastic. I also have a Sterling Sub. It looks and feels great with that jazz neck. As it's much cheaper than the Ray it doesn't sound the same but is still good value.

1st time was an E String during a gig many years ago. I think I was playing with fingers. Can't remember the song. The string was old and probably had been boled 2nd time was stretching in a new set. I think it was the G string.

Hi and welcome. For now try to spend more time playing your bass rather on BC. Eventually you'll end up like a lot of us though. Resistance is futile!

Welcome to the forum. I love Wales and really enjoy riding my motorbike around there when I'm not playing ny bass.

We recently filled a cancellation for a Sunday afternoon /early evening gig at an established pub. We agreed to do it for a reduced fee and if all went well then full payment for the future. We had very little notice and were not expected to bring a crowd. We did manage to bring almost a dozen which helped. As it was not advertised there were less than usual which is the problem of the venue not us. Doing it for anything less wouldn't have gone down well. There is a local pub that offers free slots on a Sunday to try out bands but we are not that interested or desperate to play there. Good luck deciding what to do.

I don't really have either. My main bass is a MM Stingray that I use for almost every gig or set. I have recently bought a Sterling Sub as a backup and practice bass that has yet to be gigged as it is doesn't sound as good as the Ray. My other bass is an Aria pro 2 fretless that I wouldn't gig regularly as it wouldn't suit all the songs. For me it's ultimately what sounds best.

There was no mention if the sale cost of a lead either. Don't remember them requiring batteries though. Watch this space!

Worked well enough and also used a mini disc. It gas since packed up though.

Really pleased with my padded cover for my BF Retro 210. Does the job projecting it in the car and in storage at home. Great service from them too.

Enjoy your cab and feedback after your gig. I have one and it is very clear and loud. Amazing for the size.

Found out I was sacked when I saw the advert for a bass player in the classifieds. I phoned the singer and got her answer phone. left a message and got one back a few days later with an apology but no real explanation. I suspect it was the keyboard player / band leader who was a total arse.

Most drummers I have worked with have been fine. Only 1 stands out as a tool but that was very short lived.
