  1. +1 Great basslines and I could hear him really well through the TV speakers.
  2. The Wanch. I practically lived in there when I was in HK in the early 90's. Went to a Jam night when I first arrived and instantly joined a band. Played loads of gigs in there and ended up running the jam nights. For a while I was in the house band.I was also a member of the Wanchai Hash House Harriers who where based there. Great memories. Went back for a holiday 10 years and met up with some old friends and had a jam for old times sake.
  3. Looks good this year. Nick Beggs too. Will be there.
  4. Bookmarked for later thanks.
  5. Im with Roger2611 on this. What sort of volume are you pumping out. Never had this problem before. Most bands seem to go with one sub. Sorry to hear about your problem but don't really have a solution.
  6. Make sure you allow plenty of time for a sound check and get right out front to hear the foh sound for yourself. Eq as discreet will definitely help. Careful about using a stand although with that speaker configuration you probably don't need to. Also try to stand as far away from your rig as possible on stage.
  7. Can you post some pictures.

Yes. Probably a bit easier than setting up your own. We get lots of visitors to ours. Only a couple of venue contacts made. Probably doesn't do much for punters through doors.
  9. Definitely. Also goes for Tight.
  10. For us The Coach House in Paignton. We have payed there regularly for some years. Very friendly staff and regulars. We get booked for the whole year in one go. We have even practiced there on a quite weekday night. Always a good gig to be had.
  11. Quite amusing. Check out his other videos too.
  12. I have an old original one that started doing the same. Bought a cheap spare to use in case. Never got to the bottom of the problem. I tried different leads and basses but the issue would reappear often as not. Will be interested to see if anyone has found a solution.
  13. We have just upgraded to EV ZLX15P active speakers. A big improvement from our ancient underpowered passive system. For around £900 you can get a pair with the proper covers.
  14. I have D Tuners on 2 of my basses. They are a simple and cheap mod compared to buying a 5 string. I personally don't get on with 5 strings and have not had to go lower than D so it's a win win situation for me.
  15. Wasn't Rick Wright a bit of a Jazz guy?
  16. I bought my Ray and 2 speakersfoff a friend of mine, at different times though. We both use TE heads so I won't be buying that off him.
  17. I watched his set expecting something a bit special, but was slightly disappointed TBH. Too many 'special guests' for it to flow. The bass player was very good though.
  18. I too use 45-105' and we tune down a semitone. I also have a Hipshot D Tuner so I end up going to D Flat on my E string. No problem.
  19. Some great ones listed here. The theme music to end the MotoGP broadcast is a current favourite of mine. No link ay the moment.
  20. In our band I work the desk so get comments from the other band member and friends etc in the audience for the mix. Most people we know and trust their input. The best advice was from someone we met for the first time who gave great advice on the amp and mixer settings which really transformed our sound. We let him adjust the levels and eq in the second set and had great feedback which we have employed ever since. It can work but will depend on the band in question.
  21. Sax blowing US president Bill Clinton is now in a Floyd Tribute band playing all the classic Dick Parry parts. Although during the break he likes to Have a Cigar with a local intern.
  22. I like to watch any documentaries or recorded concert footage. The other day I saw Pulse live, the great gig in the sky box planner, and have recorded it. Later I will have a cigar and have high hopes of enjoying it.
  23. Quality lyrics from Waters. Something David Gilmour with Poly Sampson never achieved after he left, but apparently they were not too bothered. I thought the quote was 'upper sixth form'. Never heard of upper fifth.
  24. Join the club. We were messed around big time by a landlord. We told him months ago he had double booked and he promised to move the other band. With less than a week to go he still hadn't and cancelled us instead with the lame excuse that the other bands fans were better behaved. This was based on a one off incident on new years eve when a friend of our drummer shows up and was kicked out for inappropriate behaviour. We had been playing the venue for years and almost all gigs were great. We immediately cancelled all our remaining gigs and have since got gigs with other pubs in the town.
  25. Saw them some years ago at Torquay town hall. Mrs Mep is a huge fan and took me along. I would suggest standing at the side unless you like serious moshing. The Captain was walking through the crowd so keep an eye out for him. Enjoy the show.
