I have an LH1000 - brilliantly simple and monsterously loud without break up. It LOVES being driven with my high output active pickups and stays clean and full bodied. I need headroom to make those low notes sound with authority and I'm pleased to say the LH heads deliver! I bridge in to two Hartke Hydrive 410s.
hasnt Kev just bought one of these? He could provide some useful insight as well... EDIT : ah it appears he has done just that!
I tend to feel the same. I thought it was just me!
For me, if you've spent loads of cash on backline / sexy Rickenbackers etc you should really be allowed to use the sound you've invested in IMO...? Drummer didnt like it being changed either (the tone AND the volume) so he wasnt as happy as he normally would be.

I drank a lot of beer a while ago and broke myself trying to get in my own house, resulting in my cream Ric getting blood all over it (as for some unknown reason I attempted to play bass when I got in the house, I really dont know why) and also finding out id fractured my thumb in two places. Which meant I couldnt hold / support a bass with the fretting hand, so 3 months of gigs had to be cancelled.... and I had to wear some kind of plastic "thumb dildo" to support the thumb pieces back into place. Not good! Hope you recover soon Mag!

I had this very recently, got my sound sorted on stage to what I like and what the drummer likes to then have it changed by the sound man and the volume totally removed. Apparently FOH sounded great but id rather be able to hear me playing a sound I like to hear... I know we are all there for the audience but at the end of the day if you dont like / cant hear your own sound then you wont enjoy the gig anywhere near as much (I didnt). It was like my Ampeg had been neutered, and that makes me a saaaaaaaaad panda.

Breaking a string at a gig - has this happened to you?
Stag replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
I broke an A once with my old blues / Cream band... not good when most tunes were in A or E. I didnt havea spare either, long time ago now... not enough money for spares.... so ended up basically looked like Wooten flying up and down the neck playing blue / 12 bar patterns. Highly amusing for our guitarist. -

Cool! Be sure to post your findings with the 4 Pro when you`ve had time to give it a good run out! I gotta say, my 5 Pro and the SVT610 is basically the sound ive always wanted... id always GASsed since a kid for the SVT2 stack but the 5 Pro actually suits me a whole lot better.
Wow! I was just posting an old rig pic elsewhere and found this! It's probably the only pic I have of my ole Sheehan Pre!
haha, the BSP! As dood well knows ive perved over one of them for a while, but given their rarity I had to go for the SVT5 when it came up. Not regretting it!!! (Although my back muscles might in time, hehe)

Im loving the SVT 5 - cant recommend it highly enough! The only thing that lets it down is the compressor, not the best... but everything else is just super smashing great as Jim Bowen would say. The octaver is pure sub sound, awesome noise! The drive channel has a boost button to get extra aggro and fith out of it, absolutely splendid
Jimmy was the true genius in pumpkins IMO. His drumming was top drawer. Everything else is overproduced nonesense from Billly. Even Celebrity Skin sounded like a Pumpkins demo, as does the new Hole album. Suppose the point I'm trying to make is that BC has a template for a band and he's gonna stick to it. I thought with Melissa it could have worked well as she has a great voice and sings superb harmonies. AFAIC the best days of Pumpkins are long gone. Think I'll give Siamese Dream a spin.........
Some of JC's stuff on Zeitgeist was some of his best stuff IMO. Saw them on that tour at the O2 and... well... he is the dog's bollocks.

My favourite band ever ever ever ever. And another hot female bassist - can only be good news. Basically whatever they will do next will be essentially the same as everything else they've done - Billy writes everything, drummer chirps in every now and then.... should be interesting to see how the new drummer copes with it all, particularly following someone so technically excellent as JC.

groovy, cheers Shawn, a lovely addition to your impressive rack system!!!

Can I play it now please mate? ;-)
