I dig that colour scheme, nice.
2. ah yeah, didnt notice that... mine is the Rosewood one
3. why why why sell this??? This is EXACTLY the same kinda thing I bought not long ago, and im pretty sure you partially talked me into buying it... lol seriously this shouldnt be here long, amazing basses
4. I nominate... me.
5. The guitarist in my former band could have done with some of these, incredibly acidic sweat which has actually attacked the metalwork on his Jackson...! Oh and he used to get lines of salt.... I think.... on the guitar itself if playing under a lot of lights.
6. Took my SVT5 in for a service - its now a different beasty to when it came out. Been fully cleaned out, connections tested, new preamp valve put in (the old one had gone a bit microphonic) and it just sounds lovely now. Clean as a whistle. If you are thinkin : "Hmmm, my amp doesnt sound as good as it did a while ago...." perhaps its time to get a reputable chap in the know to look at it.
7. Id pretty much convinced myself not to part with my current 4001 already but thanks for all the advice guys. This may yet not come off for me, I wont be distraught if it doesnt as I already have that Ricky sound I suppose... just this other one is verehhh sexxehhh. Any other stories of people going that extra mile to get something very special?
8. that is REALLY COOL
9. all jolly jolly good advice I do have to fund a new bathroom as well, hence why I need to probably "sell to buy".
10.
After selling my first Kubicki Ex Factor, I realised it was my dream bass. Everything about them, the sound, the look, the design, the feel - perfect for me. To get myself one for a second time, I traded a brilliant, mint condition Warwick Thumb BO with a slim wenge neck. Never looked back either, but I did have to drive to Lancashire M6 services to trade for it, and to get there for like 11 in the morning after finishing work at 1200 the previous night! That was an early morning and a half! I'll never be as daft as to let it go again!
Thats more like it! Well done sir
11. Hmmm, yes.... trying it would probably be a good idea. Its along way away though from where I live. Cant see it being too dissimilar to my current axe to actually play :-) Any other opinions out there? i would have thought given the amount of BC Market Place action on here (which at some times resembles being in a chain to buy a house) there would be some other insights on here...
12. OK... my dream bass has turned up for sale at a dealership. Its a Rick 4001 in the right colour (which is rare-ish) and with the case, in excellent nick, and its the right age. It is also, understandably, a fair bit of wedge. GAS. Now. This is where it gets interesting. I already own a Rick 4001, but its in cream (I have always presumed the previous owner had a Chris Squire fetish and refin'd it as such) which has some sentimental value to it, as it was bought with money from pretty much everyone in my family for my 21'st birthday... a few years back ahem. I have been thinking, should I actually sell my old Rick to finance getting the dream one... I know ill never ever want another bass after it and it would be the "go-to" instrument my current one is. Also, id probably consider parting with one of the others to finance it as well for the same reason, even my '72 Gibson as it doesnt get as much use as it perhaps should considering the effort (and cost) it took to get it. What would you, wonderful BassChatters, do? Have you been in a similar position where you have seen "The One" and sold your basses / amps / kidneys / eyes to pay for it?

14. Does anyone have any suggestions on this topic when considering my amp (SVT 5 Pro) has its fan/heatsink exhaust on the left hand side, with an air INLET at the back?
15. This is indeed in IMMACULATE condition as I have seen it in the flesh meself... not a scratch on it! Yum, buy buy buy happy happy happy someone.
16. There is of course the Ampeg option... cant go wrong with an SVT sounds for metal and rock, which is probably why so many players endorse them. My amp and cab makes a superb sound combined with a Ric or P-Bass. If you've got the cash spare then id seriously consider an SVT2, as every time ive heard one (particularly Dood's old one) it had such a wonderful crisp rock tone.
17. These are superb amps. 450w of grunt, loved mine - only reason I sold it is because an SVt5 came up for sale which I had to take at the time. Free bump...
18. DOOM That is all. awesome cab.
19. ummmmm..... Cliff Burton?
20. Ive promised myself one of these for a while but unfortunately my entire bathroom leaking means other things are going to be taking my money away from me. good price IMO... sob.
21. I got an SKB case for my SVT 5 (A hot amp) and didnt realise the fan out vents were at the side (Yes I know, I am an idiot). Needless to say said amp got very very hot indeed and now needs a service. It did survive a whole gig though, amazingly. Toying with the idea of cutting some big holes in the side or getting a more lightweight rack with better ventilation - im not sure I have the expertise or inclination to go creating a fan system for a case...! (unless you want ot come and do it for me Dan hahahahaha)
22. Im seated watching at the O2! Did you watch him do DSoTM? I watched it 3 years running in three different venues... lol
23. Thank you, what a legend!
24. All done and yes nothing happened, there are a multitude of other examples of this previously happening on the net and the banks / police being able to do positively nothing about it. Im not comfortable using it anymore unless its someone I actually know. What has changed recently to make it safer? Im just asking out of interest you see.
