1. Gnnghhhnnnnhhh.... really want / need the SVP but skint after buying a P-Bass... gaghghghghh!
2. Thats porn-tastic, and I totally agree with ET in that it looks like a bass shop. lol
3. Oh my word. What a lovely collection of kit OTPJ! I presume you have a friendly, understanding bank manager?
4. Exactly the thing I was looking for before buying my 2009 P ( http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=68439 ) . Lovely lovely bass indeed in a classic colour scheme, great buy!
5. I dont dig relicing either but thats a beauty...!
6. You finally post! lol! Welcome on board Kev.
7. How bizarre - I was just talking to a fellow BC member here in the office (BassCat) about putting flats on it! Ill do that after this weekend's gigs, payday tomorrow (woop)
8. I think he's more after dosh at the minute, but hey, why not? Good luck sir.
9. Yes, it does... ...liar! lol seriously though, nice P's indeed sir. Had I bought that '76 I would not have got my lovely new 2009 P which im totally besotted with, so swings and roundabouts as they say...
10. AH! So you are the b*gger who bought that 76' P on the morning I was going to see it! I hate you. (only joking, lovely stuff chap.)
11. Evening guys... thanks for all the nice comments. OTPJ - I tried a number of Jazzes and just couldnt get on with them, even the very expensive one in V&R that some on here have taken a liking to. I prefer the P-Sound, i suppose im more of a "rawk" boy, but the fact you can get some lovely bottom end out of a P for the funky stuff also sold it. All my other basses arent exactly versatile so a P seemed the natural choice. The sheets? No idea, missus got them from somewhere! And DJV, you are of course welcome over for cups of tea and bass and biccies whenever ya like! lol! Although this time I wont get you fixing any amps, you can just drink tea and play! Must put some of the piccies of that evening up, some serious $$$$'s of bass gear in my house that night...
12. His missus has put it on the Bay - not sure she will get what they are asking tho! Id forgotten the ludicrusly big flight case he got with it as well, lol. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160380033447 (mods you can move this over to eBay links if ya want,I suppose?)
13. Id had the horn for a Fender for ages, i have a lovely little Musicmaster for rehearsals but just had to go out and get the real deal. Quick fact : ive never bought a new bass before, so this is all a bit new to me. Mmm. Pretty SKB case with "case candy" inside as well. Very happy. So : here's the porn.
14. mmmm, that is very pretty. Shame I dont have a spare grand - have a free bump!
15. I know nothing about [s]a great many things[/s] these basses but is that a Ric bridge on there? Cool bass indeed.
16. I just had to say, this thread title was awesome. gets coat
17.
That 4003 1980 Rick they've got is awesome. I've never seen one in that colour!
mmm, yes, thats pure SEX. The "vintage" stuff isnt that insane pricewise, compared with quite a few dealers over here I guess
18.
+1 on that. The value will be in the age, condition and originality and the best way to preserve these (and therefore the value), would be to lock it away and not use it
+1 again I was GASsing for an old Fender. Having said that I did actually want to use it for gigs n' stuff so bought an MIA 2009 one instead for practically half the price , with case and all that guff thrown into the deal. Its actually a better bass than most of the old ones ive played, IMO. Although my singer's 75' P takes some beating, thats a stunningly good bass.
19. actually come to think of it there isnt much point in putting it in the porn thread as OTPJ's is, uh, exactly the same.... although mine is rosewood... hmmm ill do it later. oh and cheers for all the advice guys, very very happy with the choice!
20. Well, I tried both and liked the rosewood one a lot more. Seemed to have a much bigger and louder sound? Odd. Anyway I BOUGHT IT LOL and its now behind me in its case looking very very pretty indeed. Im sure ill get it in Gear Porn soon! I am extremely, extremely impressed with it. Given that ive tried quite a number of P's now, and quite a lot of them 70's ones, I have to say this is actually better than the majority ive played. Its the right weight, the right look, the right everything. All the case candy you get with it just seals the deal really! IMO its a much better use of my money than a 70's P would be.... particularly if the 70's P in question may not be entirely kosher (unless bought from a lovely fellow BC'er of course! - not even a dealer is going to know a bass's entire history). If anyone else is thinking about it, I would say GO TRY THEM and then, well, you might end up walking out with one like I did.
21. I also had a fault on mine before I sold it to Basscat on here. Is your fan working? mine had stopped for some reason, and then the MOSFETS had burnt out.
22. I think Bassassin has "got previous" with these Hondo's...
23. If you can pick up a Trace combo like the one above for a reasonable amount id say that. Also, the Ampeg B Series combos are pretty decent, when ive tried them anyway.
24. Well, the shop im going to be buying it from next week is getting a maple one AND a rosewood one in for me specially (they only had one MIA PBass in stock and it was a rosewood one in the wrong colour) so I can try both out. Looking forward to it!
25. It seems that for the mentioned figure of £849 in addition to the case you get a Fender lead, strap, polish cloth, all very nice stuff. very very tempted.
