  1. I have built a fearful 15/6/1 clone in conjunction with Shermann audio who did it as a one off / explore the possibilities. It is a seriously good cab, however it does have an appetite for watts, I find 700W into 8 ohms adequate.
  2. In the same mob, Snudge played a 57 Telecaster with a Tweed bassman. Awesome.Coincidently Bootsie's real name was Alfie Bass.
  3. Wait until you have the TI flats on before hitting the wallet. I will be surprised if you do not find a what you want with the standard pickups. TIs are my string of choice on a diverse range of basses. Used on my Gibson SG bass I can get serious low end thump through to twangy-clanky.
  4. Again, where are you?
  5. There may be trouble ahead. Search the feedback forum using the name given. Take care.
  6. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/gibson-bass-guitar-1999/253853462398?hash=item3b1ad86f7e:g:DQ0AAOSw3JRbkFng Am I missing something, it seems to lack some Gibson SG bass features that mine has...
  7. In the best case I stop thinking (no comments please) and am just amazed how the bass plays itself. In the worst cases, why am I here? when will this end? how much longer do I have to play for? Al the comments in thread so far have gone through my mind at various times
  8. Currently playing in one of the most easy going and enjoyable (and getting very musically slick) bands I have been in. At very nearly 60 I am the second youngest. As a by the by, does anyone have a flight case for Zimmer frame going spare. Just find the right set of like minded band members (which is the hard part).
  9. As above s/h laptop bag (got mine given for free) found at boot sales for peanuts. Charity shops also a good source. Plenty of quality bags about for very little money.
  10. String choice is another factor - Spiro Mittel gave significant volume on my DB. Hard on my right hand fingers though.
  11. Rotate the compact through 90 degrees (might need to buy additional feet). One less reason not to buy this highly desirable amp.
  12. Looks good, the yellow one needs the 'browned' aged cream pickguard (I have a Tele guitar that has gone custard yellow from ivory when new, I am partial to these).
  13. And on a likewise note I also use cheap basses for the majority of gigs these days. Some of my basses are not so much valuable but irreplaceable (or very difficult to replace). The quality of bitsas (and many 'cheap' basses) is quite remarkable and once the volume is raised any subtlety is lost on for me. Tha 'banana' / 'custard' yellow body looks good to me.
  14. Bought a set of Tannoy Hifi speakers from Sean. Excellent communication and a great person to deal with. An easy transaction, deal with confidence,
  15. And on another worrying guitarist note, not only have I had to ask one of our guitarists to turn up the volume (twice), I have also asked him to play longer solos. Our first set on Friday was run through at quite some pace.
  16. I am well pleased with my QSC GX7 (and sans amp pedals). Light (7.5Kg) and delivers 800W into 8 Ohms single channel (rather more into 4 Ohms). Plenty of headroom. The Leeds pedal is remarkable, I have the Hiwatt experience at a fraction of the weight - not done an AB with the real thing but it reminds me of my Hiwatts of my youth. Main gigging cab is BF Dubster (smaller cab is a Shermann Audio 15/6/1 full range).
  17. What a great bit of kit. I so wanted one of these in the late 70s / early 80s. Here it is at pocket money prices and in such good condition. GLWTS.
  18. Someone got a good cab for not much moolah
  19. No guarantees - the description reminds me of Innovation Silver Slaps. I have found them right hand friendly. I am sure others will make suggestions.
  20. Bought a set of TI flats from Pawel. Excellent communication, faster arrival than a fast thins. Do not hesitate. Many thanks.
  21. Well pointed out, I had also forgotten this, memories of frequent repairs to my AC50 return. Seem to remember output transformers in many guitarists 100W valve amps failing as well.
