2014 Gibson 120th Anniversary SG Bas. **SOLD**

Interesting, that must be solid colours with the white filler/undercoat stuff. My sunburst finish is quite thin, has chips and dings in it (mostly not mine, but some I am guilty of). Back has patch 10cm x 5cm approx that started with buckle rash from previous owner. I am told relic'ed is fashionable

And in strange 'coincidence' as this thread re-lives I took my SB1 out to band tonight (I forgot my Gibbo SG bass and picked the SB1 up from the bass stash... don't ask, it involves ex-wife etc..). TI flats and it was the business, just need to back the volume off a bit otherwise it gets a bit 'burpy' overdriving my amp. Am now faced with a difficult choice for the Friday beer festival gig, SG bass vs G&L. Hard times....

I rate the current SG bass as one the best basses I own (have owned). I fitted a Hipshot bridge and machines which resolved the bridge issues and neck dive. The current neck pickup is not at all 'muddy' unlike that in my (long gone) EB2. The low weight and good balance when using it sitting down are a big plus. Edge chamfering makes it very comfortable. With TI flats I can get a good range of tones and it records to DI stunningly well.

Apols, however I did read the original and appreciate it is > 6 lb and short scale, however just thought in a thread looking for lightweight basses it might be of interest to others Fully appreciate it does not help with your quest. Thanks for the Stu Hamm bass info

I can only apologise for living in the boonies, what bass is it? Another lightweight option, Gibson SG bass, 7.8lb allegedly. Not weighed mine but I have fitted Hipshot bridge and machines which will have saved some mass. It is the lightest and most resonant bace I own

As above, an easy repair and should be very low cost

This filling rosewood chips from fretboard or this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMXkq44BIWY are also very instructive. When I put frets back into a fretless bass (dine badly) I had acquired, I used the PTFE sheet pushed into the fret slots and superglue / rosewood dust mix filler method. The glue does not stick to PTFE. The method works really well, and will give your fret line markers a really 'sharp' defined edge.

This where I have got to combined with a QSC GX7 power amp and Barefaced Dubster. I keep thinking about the BB800 for a small portable setup when the full monty is not needed.

Even the most well intentioned KPIs have unintended consequences, my profession has suffered the consequences of them since 1992. I frequently take comfort from the quote "We trained hard . . . but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization."

Solved - f*** off and do as I told you (this is an advanced form of management and leadership technique that took years of experience to develop and codify)

I like this method, another one to file away (pun unintended) for future use.
