  1. No idea how to fix it. Why not state where you are located in your sig. On this forum you have every chance that someone lives near to you and may be willing to help. At this short notice I would borrow (buy cheaply) another amp for the gig. Can you go through the pa system? if so use some form of DI box? - plenty of pedals etc about that will do this cheaply e.g. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Behringer-BDI21-V-Tone-Bass-Preamp/6LV?origin=product-ads&gclid=CjwKCAiAxMLvBRBNEiwAKhr-nGbKu9STsEB9lf49014ynlw8pt8J4MrQ_kPzBsJNkDy3dicY3LBFxxoCXr0QAvD_BwE I always carry a Sansamp as a backup for the 'failsafe' scenario. Good luck with the gig.
  2. I managed to get the truss rod to lift and snap the fingerboard on my G&L 5er (older single action rod, not an uncommon problem apparently). Repaired by Jon with a dual action rod, better quality fingerboard, outstandingly good stainless frets and an almost unnoticeable repair. Outstanding workmanship (better than it left the USA with) and the bill was unbelievably low.
  3. Bought some strings from Marc. Excellent communication and rapid arrival. Thanks.
  4. I can only add that these are superb basses. Lightweight and a really thick tone that records well. Not just a one trick pony either.
  5. My SG bass was a neck diver, Hipshot tuners and wide strap has solved the issue.
  6. And another pedal (tuner) despatched from the Travis trove. Excellent communication, packaged to survive and rapid arrival. The B string on my 5er can now be tuned. Many thanks.
  7. Why? I have no other words on this one.
  8. £300s worth of solid tone. GLWTS (I have 2x G&L so can't justify a 3rd).
  9. Reading the link, Rikki must be very very good. Too good for me to be in a band with (on so many levels). One can only wish him and the band well.
  10. Bought a pickguard from Simon, well packed and arrived quickly. All hassle free, many thanks. Deal with confidence.
  11. Basses and bass kit fall into the exceptional need category. This category of purchases is deemed essential to life function, happiness, stardom, sexual prowess, fame, playing ability, tone (underline all applicable)..
  12. oops, correct post follows
  13. £686 GBP - bargain compared to an original Hiwatt (which I had in my youth). Hope you find the Tour 700 you are looking for.
  14. Pretty much what I would say about my Gibson SG bass. I did fit Hipshot tuners to cure the neck dive.
  15. Staggeringly good value, if only I really could get on with 5ers GLWTS.
  16. Bit far from Mid Wales to offer a 'try it out'. You are however in the land of the sensibly priced used Weber Mywatt
  17. Aria spirit PE bass, bought on this very forum. No pics at the moment but google "Aria spirit PE bass" and it is the blue one. Seriously well built, nice and light, superb balance - no neck dive, active electronics. With a 32" scale length it should be a 'killer' but lacks 'bite and aggression' compared to my other basses.
  18. I have two (go figure..) Peavey Tour 700s. Indestructible, not too heavy, not Class D and reliable. (500W into 8 Ohms is useful) Tone is good for what I want, I can get some 'valvey' grit / distortion (think Andy Fraser on the Free Live cd). Graphic is good, the cosmos is a waste of time for me. Where are you based?
  19. Smoke on the water, best left to DP, just no for me, period, no!
  20. 29 yrs with my G&L SB1, 3 with the L1505. Build quality on both excellent. Still not convinced I am a 5 string player however.
  21. The 301 is imo one of the best looking bass cabs ever. Just need a 2019 301 lite, looks like a miniature 301, has modern lightweight internals and construction. I see a project
  22. Bought an EMG DC40 from Chris. Excellent communication, next day arrival, really well packed. First rate, deal with confidence.
