I see what your saying her mate, but stuff shouldn't be prone to breaking when it's been out no time at all. Yeah, good on TC for recalling it, that's responsible, but make sure things are right at source, then they will save themselves the trouble of having to recall god knows how many units!? It's just a major inconvenience, not just for me but for many other TC users. As Jimryan says, I still really like TC, but it has somewhat tainted my view of them. I always used to think when I saw product recall signs in the shop windows 'thank god I didn't buy one of those!'
Boeing spent $32bn developing the Dreamliner - and, as has been very clear from the news, even that amount of development spend won't overcome all issues. Things being right at source is a fallacy. No manufacturing process is that efficient; and no development process is even remotely close. Like the expression, even the best laid plans can go wrong - you make best endeavours, honest effort, to ensure everything is right; and should it go wrong the best thing to do is be on the front foot about it. I think it's credit to TC to be seen to be getting on top of this. I hope it is genuinely resolved. I mean, there are plenty who would bury their heads and let users struggle on - this is a pretty mature response, if they're committed to doing it well.

Bought a pedal from Merton. Good comms throughout, prompt posting - very happy. Recommended

Haha, I often have thoughts like this. Anyone know where my pink Eagle is?! Good to see you reunited.
£150 for a basic distortion pedal with a tone knob and a bright switch, and no blend? Come on!
I think that a few are guilty of that sin, mind.

Isn't the answer "both", in a fashion? You'll need the basslines - and, if that's the sound you're after, you could take an overdrive. But you still need to be playing what's right to move the band.
-
The acid test: does the song work? If yes, then the baseline is doing it's job; and sometimes we need to leave our egos at the door to see that. I love AC/DC, some great rock songs - but not a jot of anything "complex" on bass. But there doesn't need to be.

I likey. I also likeyed the Mastotron. Some nice gear from Zvex. I wonder what would happen if I put the two together...
Cheers for the replies so far guys Does anyone here use an iPad to practice? If so, what apps do you use?
Kind of... in that we normally film all our rehearsals via iPad, so we can take it outside and work out how well we did. I have Garageband for noodling, but - as others have said - you will need an iRig or similiar to connect.
Me either - that's maybe why I keep wanting Jon to build me another... and another... and another....
I honestly thought you were just trying to spend our way out of the economic crisis I've never been a fan of single-cuts, although they're hugely prevalent amongst the top-end of the market - so I get this dichotomy between these basses which represent the pinnacle of instrument construction... and yet I'll never enjoy, aesthetically. To me, they appear cumbersome and bloated; they seem to want to show off, to be different, to have some pretension. But you learn as much about yourself, when you look outward, as you learn about the object under scrutiny
OK. I get the bit about potential libel. Fair enough.

Libel/embarrassment - same difference.
Absolutely. And I don't think either would have speeded resolution. Apologies, of course. I was well aware this wouldn't please everyone I'm happy to give Gareth some space, now, to resolve this. Let's hope he gets the bass he wants - and then let's hope we get the thread we want, which will be NBD and full of pictures
-
It smacks of resolution - I hope! Gareth made a request for the thread to be removed from view. He's in communication with the shop to hopefully resolve the issues he's experienced, and he didn't want the thread to become a barrier to that resolution - that, and he felt it had run it's course. As such, I've hidden it from view. Naturally, I've asked Gareth to keep us all updated with how he gets on - and if he wants to do it in the same old thread, I'll bring it back
(but again, the price !)
What are they, £1,600 to £2,000?

Oh yes, the Big Al... one day... I keep saying that. I swear that the tax man gets more fun out of my money than I ever do!

Haha, Grae is fine - and has a room, floor to ceiling full of Gibsons, to confirm his little obsession! It's getting past the guard dogs I had an issue with!
-
Neep, what's the config on your SG-Z? Is it far off the new EB? It seems the most likely point of comparison.

Second in from the left. I've asked GAK when they're looking at getting stock in, but no reply as yet.

We just need it in more colours, on these shores at least...

I imagine the Babicz is a nod to those who used to replace the 3-pointer - more body contact, etc.
Mr Gus, your very much welcome to come and try when i get mine just a wee travel, thats all. For me, i know theres plenty of other shapes and brands out there but can anything say ROCK! more than Gibson? If everyone gave the 3-point bridges a try, not let it wind them up i think there would be a certain love for Gibson on here. They mightn't be the best or the cheapest basses you can buy but they stand their ground in the mix and i've never really seen them devalue compared to Fender; which must mean something? BSB
Haha, will do chief.
The EB eh? Dunno where I stand on it. Nice to see them try something new, but I'm not sure I like the looks.
I'll agree on the looks, a little - but having seen the smoked sunburst finish, I think I was simply put off by the grain on the stained model. Coil tapping humbuckers are selling it to me at the moment.

2 minutes sounds like an issue, and you might want to get it checked out - and a service never hurts, if it's getting a lot of use. I've had a couple of Hartke amps, and have both taken a few moments to fully power-up - which I assume is the protection measure mentioned above.
