1. I'll confirm that the A6 Avant can swallow almost anything. A bass will still need to sit in the boot at an angle, I've found - I don't think any of the modern estates have boots sufficiently deep to just slide it in, without needing to drop a seat. Angle your case across the boot, and space to spare, however. I'm easily fitting bass rig and the odd bandmate in without struggling overly, and the extra space on the A4 is a boost. That said, I've done much the same in the wife's A4 estate - and been a lot less worried about scraping the furnishings! Of course, as Audi, Skoda, VW, etc, are all very similar you'll find the same kind of space on things like the A4, Passat, Octavia, etc - size will vary slightly by model, mind. Also, brilliant drive and superb fuel economy on the diesels. They've just updated the rear, so you can find <2010 models going cheap, and most come with all kinds of gadgets. Of course, if you're just wanting something to chuck the gear in, you could find something a lot cheaper.
2. Nice, BSB - quite the collection now!
3. I prefer the original track you've posted. Some nice work going on on the groove, although I'll second JT in wondering what the drums were trying to achieve at times. All good stuff - and just your second gig?
4. Whilst petrol and a lighter remains my preferred way of lighting up many a band, I will second the call for LEDs. As Count Bassy notes, for the taller gent the benefits over traditional lamps and lighting are immediately obvious - no burnt heads!
5. Hmm... quiet year, which is a first. Out: Charvel 3B EB Stingray 5 Lakland 44-02 Gibson Grabber G3 Spector NS-2J-AR In: EB Stingray 4 EB Stingray 5 (then immediately out again) Lakland 44-02 (then immediately out again) Lakland Skyline Jazz
6. He was saying he has c.50 guitars, which is quite a collection - alongside his scooters, and other bits and pieces!
7. Tiny bit of trivia, but was listening back to Radio 5 this evening and they played back an interview with mod-of-the-moment, Bradley Wiggins. I knew he was a bit of a guitar nut, but it was interesting to hear him say he owned a couple of John Entwistle's basses. Probably no surprise, given his love of the music, but always very cool to see someone else picking up the bass. I wonder which ones he has. Anyone know?
8.
My new Stingray 5 has me smiling every time I've picked it up or gigged it since I've bought it. It does everything I want it to do plus a bit more.
As I sold you it, that's very good to hear - glad you're enjoying it so much
9. Welcome in, chief
10.
Could also be where you were standing (or wherever whoever set up their sound when he/she did so). The further you get away from the stage, the more the bass cuts through (at least, that's what the sound engineer told me at our last gig). A bit off-topic, but the first time I used my Jaguar at a gig I thought the sound was a bit muffled and indistinct. During the first set I saw a well-known local bass player come in, so, during the break I asked him what he thought of the tone. His response was "Great. I always love it when I can hear the bass over the rest of the band"! As Molan notes, unless you have the ability to wander off and have a listen, it's very hard to work out for yourself how you sound anywhere other than on stage. We normally have a mate or two along for testing that out.
11. Ha, brilliant!
12. I'm thinking about my pedals again, and as the title says, I'm curious as to what people partner their Fuzz effects with. So, for those players who have big Fuzz sounds, what else do you have on your board and why?
13. Sorry guys, this is an old thread - the bass was sold some time ago.
14. Great reading, as always
15. Just completed a trade with Liam. Good comms throughout, and a smashing bloke in the flesh - would happily recommed him to Basschat
16. Some good offers, thanks people - and a bump
17. Apologies guys, I'm changing jobs - it feels like I've been living in hotels and conference centres for the last month... only with my work laptop, which means limited internet! I've replied to all PMs!
18. Sorry, my fault Ben - I didn't think to list!
19. Afternoon all - apologies, I'd mid-changing jobs, so am a little distracted! Yes, this is still available for sale and trade. In terms of BB, I'd be looking 1024/1024x. Naturally, as with all trades, we can balance cash as appropriate if I'm under/overvalued for the trade Also, pics!
20. Welcome back chief
21.
I think those who should actually reply to this topic are our friends, loved ones and perhaps bandmates - they would probably give a more accurate description of us...
Accurate... and chockful of profanities; at least in my case
