I recognise that G3! I like the look of these. The bit missing from the specs - at least, I didn't see it if it was there - was the weight. The original G3 I had, and now shown above, was very lightweight next to my Stingrays, and I'd want something substantial I could rock out with. Put me down as interested, mind!

Why not run the new pickguard around the entirety of the bridge pick-up? Sorry, just musing out loud if you wanted to mask the imperfections with the routing. Might be tight on screw positions near the bridge, mind.

US music file-sharer must pay nearly half a mill damages!

I'd check back over the Beeb this week, as I'm sure there was an article relating to the monitoring of traffic in the UK - in that there are firms, operating now, collecting data on who is downloading what. Seemed pretty ominous, albeit not being utilised yet. -
I think the question needs a little more definition - over what time frame, would you hope that the bass would keep it's value? The value curves, getting technical, will be different for them all. But our revered "vintage" Fenders were, at one point, cheap - and people sold them for a lot less than they are now worth. Might be worth considering. I mean, if you've got decades to play with, you might find a lot more brands keep their value.
Good luck with the sale/trade.....pleased you like the video, as you can tell an EB3 is essential for our Cream, Free, Nazareth numbers
Oh aye, it works a treat in the mix - and there's some real tightness in the playing on show. I think my real issue is that I'm built like an ape!
f*** em and move on ;-)
/thread. They've made their decision, and now you've got yours. For right or wrong, there it is. I would choose to move on and make a success of myself elsewhere, with due consideration for my existing writing and arranging rights for their existing material.

Afternoon all - apologies for my limited availability, I've just changed jobs and am now working out on the road. It's made me very hit and miss for PMs, for which I'll apologise. This bass has now been traded. I hope risingson enjoys it as much as I did! ------------------------- Afternoon all. For sale/trade, one Stingray 5 string - Black body with Maple board. 2010 model and in very good condition. Pics to follow, but a full breakdown of the spec can be found here. Comes with Musicman hardcase and spare (used) EB strings. Price is £1050 cash. Low-balling offers will be treated with disdain, but serious and reasonable offers will get the respect they deserve. Trades are available, and I will look to balance out the cash depending on how the deal looks. Considering the following:

Musicman Stingray 4
Musicman Stingray 4 - all-black Limited Edition
Musicman Stingray 4 - SLO Special
Other EB 4-strings
Zon 4-string - Sonus or Legacy?
Gibson Les Paul 4-string
BC Rich USA Eagle 4-string
Spector Rex 4-string
Warwick 4-string of some description (maybe the Corvette $$?)
Fender Jaguar
Fender Jazz Special (Duff me!)
Fender Jazz or P Aerodyne
Yamaha BB
Rickenbacker
Edit: Should also say, long-scale only please. My bad, should have said. Or combinations of cheaper variants of the above (e.g. Sub, etc) in multiples or with cash. I'm a little more open to trade discussions, so please try me. My minimum is that all should be good condition. Based in York. Collection preferred, naturally - not least as I drove 350 miles last time, and figure it's someone elses turn... but also because it gives people a chance to try and make their mind up; oh, and comes with free tea/coffee and a choice of bacon or sausage butty.
Amateurs practice until they get it right. Professionals practice until they can't get it wrong. That's where the zone is.
Ah, I quite like this. For me, it's muscle memory. I learn my stuff and let my body run with it. Of course, that's being at one with the stuff you're playing; being at one with the bass is probably a whole different question. Like, could I just pull something out of the air and do it without thinking? The answer, for me, is probably no - I'd need a think, and I'd certainly need a look. For the rest - as thisnameistaken has said above - it's diligence. Get it learnt, get it right... and then let go. Does make it easier to be active and moving about, or banging your head or whatever floats your boat, if you're not needing to watch everyone fretting finger land.
My local music shop Promenade has ordered one in for me to look at as Gary there knows I'm a Grabber fan. I had a 70s G3 and loved the sound but didn't get on with the weight, hopefully these will compare with my old lighter Grabber 1. The first G3 pickups were designed by Bill Lawrence and the neck was bolt on - think these are set necks so it will be interesting to see how they sound.
Good call on the neck. Interesting on the weight - every time I speak to other owners, past and present, we all have a different story with the weight. Some models were light, some heavy, across all the Grabbers.
-
I loved my 1976 G3 - very powerful and distinctive tone... but showing all the hallmarks of Gibson at the time, looking for a way to maker the Grabber for less. It felt like it was made out of balsa wood. I'd be interested in one, if it was also through-body stringing and if that body had some more weight and substance to it. Price seems a lot better than other re-issues. However, the 3-point bridge?!?
Yup that's not a US one. Import Warlock shaped body. What does it say on the headstock? If it does not say "Made in USA" there then it is a class axe era Warlock, made in Korea. "La California edition"
Spot on Shockwave, Class Axe Warlock. Which EMGs are in, Ogri?
