How Long on Stage Before You Get Your Mojo on?
Gust0o replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
3 to 4 pints.
Seconded. I think it takes a moment or two to get a real sense of the audience, particularly if it's a lot of new faces. For that instant kick, it's the buzz within the band. I'm sure some of us have played some sports - you know, the banter before you walk onto the pitch, the back slapping and final words; then, of course, it's the noise and the electric buzz of it all. Could just be me, mind. And the booze -
iCastle's truss rod is to tight any little turn and he snaps.
He just needs some TLC and a little loving. Maybe some Fast Fret. He gets a lot of abuse, and is starting to look a little roadworn

Probably Charic. The action is too high on icastle, and Rich is just unplayable.
In my last band we had to sack the drummer. He turned up with a Premier drum kit. He should have know that the best drum kit for Metal is a Pearl Export. Plonker.
I hear Pearl Export's are the best drums for metal.

The older G3s had a neck like a baseball bat. Which is handy. In baseball. Not sure if it played crap, as a result - I'll admit, all Gibson basses seemingly have their foibles, and in many cases look crap - but they all seem to have something special when plugged in. Could just be me, mind - am back in love with the brand!

Lovely bass there, congratulations!

I saw Black Sabbath at Download last year, and Geezer was the most audible of them all on stage - no idea on his backline, but it was Lakland P-style bass in his hands. Looking forward to seeing them again this year. They've still got it - and Geezer could always put a bass line together. War Pigs is my favourite.

I couldn't get the link to work chief - requires me to be logged in?

I wear mine - after all, being able to see where the stage is, is a very good start If it's looking a bit wild, or I'm moving about a bit, I will ditch them to the top of my amp.

Good feedback though. This kind of feedback, where improvements are suggested, should be collated. It gives us a brilliant sense of what people are asking for, and would allow us to prioritise what we might do next with the site and forum.

On the subject of potato bread, this is a stalwart of what I discovered was the "Ulster fry" when I was working over the water. You don't really see it back here on the mainland, and people normally chuck a hash brown in to try and make up the gap The Yanks often serve corned beef hash with their fry-ups. Shouldn't work, but bloody well does! They do make the mistake of going with Canadian bacon mind - crisp and sweet... it has a time and a place, but not in a fry

Very nice, lah!

Strange, as I first got into playing rock as the bass lines were - to my young eyes and ears - a lot more differentiated, and fun to play, than the Oasis covers doing the rounds at the time.
The more I look at it the more I like it!
Haha, it has that effect - that's how I fell for it! That odd bump struck me for a while, but with playing it I've come to realise it's not a bad idea for stabilising the bass on a strap - not a hint of neck dive here.
I wasn't aware that there were any stats published - where can I find them? I could go to the forum and count the postings, life is too short and that method isn't likely to be very accurate. It would be very easy for the hosting site to offer stats based on the log files, but I don't know whether this info is readily available. In the absence of any statistics, it's much easier for me to just claim that the numbers of postings have gone down, and then someone else can compile the evidence :-) Edit - I now find myself having to edit raw html - hadn't noticed this before, guess I'm doing something wrong as usual
Bugger, I did kinda want you to go and count then all! I'm not privy to any site MI, sadly.
When I first opened the case, I must say, I was a bit "underwhelmed" and disappointed; the wood grain has not been filled and the finish looked a bit cheap
I think I called his the standard Gibson "idiosyncracies" - so mine has a little flaw in the scratch plate, where one part of the surface is thicker than the surrounding area. I quite enjoyed the grain though - and I should be seeing a lot more of it when the nitro rubs through! Bob, yes, this is the one from Banks - Matt, who is their bass guru, is a BC'er to boot! I'd been walking past it for months - every time I'd come back off the road, and finally make my way into town... well, there it would be! I originally managed to wring from the wife some conditions under which I'd be allowed to treat myself, and I finally did it

Yeah, shortscale.
-
Ah, I did wonder if I'd dreamed that - was that the one with the odd strap knob? That did look shoddy, sadly - the G3 reissue is supposed to be a great sounding bass!

The joy of the forum software is that the figures are a matter of public record - should be all the information you need in the forum, Pete.
I have thought about one of these. Am a long way away in the boonies from any Gibbo holding music shop. Will it do the Jack Bruce / Andy Fraser (Cream/Free) sound?
At a guess: no. I always thought the secret to that sound, beyond the groovd of both Bruce and Fraser, was the mudbucker at the base of the neck. You don't get that here. I imagine, if I stuck some flats on it, it would do a passable impression, dialling down the tone. Wouldn't be quite the same, perhaps. No flats to give it a try, mind! Always welcome to have a go if up in this part of the world.
