Agree with the above, fair play to you Guy.

Kadabar - Abra Kadavar. The 70s rock vibe is heavy here. All strong wine, expanded minds, smoky rooms... Oh, and some thumping vintage rock. Loving it. Tempted to get some flats back on and go after this tone!

Very nice work, Chris - one of my favourite Maiden tracks to boot. Love the tone

That was a really cool clip. Like Lozz, I didn't really know a lot about him prior to watching, but a great listen
The only patois I know is that block paved area in the garden where the barbecue sits...
That place where we buried your ex-wife?

Stingray? Or, try and lay hands on an MTD - I had a Kingston Heir 5 which was superb, and probably the better player.

I've got the dual Mono - superb bag! Did manage to put a tiny tear in it... But that's way better than dinging a bass!

If he's nervous, try some deep breathing techniques. For everything else... Well, I have sweatbands. I also have a small beer towel, which I have on stage. Life saver, that!

cutting sound from a stingray? eq advice needed!
Gust0o replied to bigevilman's topic in Bass Guitars
Just to check - are you saying you can't hear it cut? Or the crowd can't? Worth getting someone to stand out there as you check in for an opinion. -
If there's one bass you should sell, Nik, it's that Eagle
Do we not like this bass because it is different to standard?

Does the awkwardness of the juxtaposition of an old style headstock with a later style body make it look thrown together?
Are the odd, Musicmaster looking pups clearly a down grade on the much copied split pups?
The fact that there are pups and not pup should this not happen on a P?
Does a smarmy looking cast bridge instead of the bbot goes against it's utilitarian reputation?
And, to cap in all, a knob where a jack socket should be is this just too sophisticated for a simple bass?
What's actually wrong? If it's because it doesn't grace our eyes as expected then surely Fender have already won us over. We're criticising them for a product that differs from, well, their product. If we consider Fender's more commonly met design to be sacrosanct enough to rant about any variation then I feel we are lost to them.
Good comment. For me, the price sets the context for the discussion - do I see a product which matches the price tag being asked? Larry does, seemingly. A lot of us do not. The price sets the bar very high for the instrument.
Good luck with the wait, though given the thread title I have to admit I'm feeling slightly disappointed.
Seconded. I know Discreet had his, er, hopes up I can empathise with the heavy amp. I think I must have the same gremlins.

cutting sound from a stingray? eq advice needed!
I agree, to be fair I probably boost the bass too much the cut it compared to where someone else might at the head.
Haha, yeah - once you've got it to a position you can make the most of it, the rest if finesse; and I put a bit more bass back in at that point. Haven't quite gone to the limit yet I struggled as my amp was set for my previous Lakland precisions. I did most of my fiddling there - and then with some adjustment for both live and rehearsal settings, which are different. -

Start at the centre and build out. It can take a little while, as I find out - although, admittedly, I was with a Stingray. There shouldn't be anything the 55-01 can do that this cannot. -
Yeah, put me a quid down on Tuesday Looks a smashing bass, Marcus, hope you enjoy it (for a while)

Back again - straight sale or Gibson/BC Rich trade only. ------------------------------------------ Afternoon all. I'm sure these basses need little in the way of introduction - however, please find for your delight and consideration one Musicman Stingray. The bass was completed on the 22nd February, 2002, is a 4-string, 3eq model. Colour is trans-teal, showing some nice grain, and with a rosewood fingerboard. There are no issues with the bass, and no major blemishes. There are three small dents, for want of a better word, on the rear of the neck (c.14th fret - though I will confirm this) which I've shown here, and do not affect playability. This is a beautiful instrument. It's solid, very well made, and has been a realiable performer. It is, however, one of the heavier Stingrays - it feels like a real instrument, and I've enjoyed owning it. So, why sell it? It's one of three. It's in the best nick of my three, and thus it tends to stay in its case and avoid gigs and rehearsals. It's probably time to let someone else have a go. Price is sale or trade - and inclues an official Musicman hardcase. Starting at £850, but we'll see how we go If I've gone too high or too low, I'm sure the PMs will tell me - and happy to here offers in the region of. Preference would be collection or drop-off, if you're somewhere where I can get to you - though if you want to come round and try, I can throw in a cuppa and a bacon butty. If shipping is the only way, well let's have a chat. Trade-wise... talk to me about:

Fender Jaguars
[s]G&Ls[/s]
Gibsons - new and old
US BC Richs - new and old
I nearly never find exactly what I want, so feel free to try me anyway - even that Bongo Stealth is looking delicious! Happy to put cash in to make any deal work, should the balance work in your favour

I hear only good things about the Sansamp DI. I didn't get one, however... I opted for the Tech 21 VT, which is a tone pedal. I was wondering if some of your issue might not come down to other areas of your set up, other than the bass itself. The VT was my way of getting to the sound I wanted, but I'd encourage plenty of experimentation to see if you already have the answer to hand.

Bass guitar worth.... (I saw a new bass in my local shop today)
Gust0o replied to LukeFRC's topic in Bass Guitars
Two grand is a lot of money , Gareth , that's for sure ,
For only a few grand more you could have bought Larry's Closet Classic Precision. I hear it's the best bass for metal. -
Another dies too young (just 49) :( Jeff Hanneman of Slayer

Never posted much in the way of his own shots, did he? Just a lot of catalogue fodder; and then one blurry shot on the Fender forum. Maybe his hand was shaking, thinking of the money he'd just spent, and that threw the picture. Ah well.
