1. Dig out an old Charvel. You won't regret it at all. I could let mine go for £500, I suppose
2. Now that loks lovely!
3.
Last time I saw my guitarist play bass his face reminded me of the time I picked my cats up after they'd be neutered - same expression!
Brilliant! I now know what I'm going to do the moment I plug in at our next rehearsal... I'm going to hand the bass straight over
4. And it would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that pesky search function! Would a simple Overdrive pedal not go some way towards it, and be more likely to work in series with other effects?
5. Crikey, another great looking T40!
6. Ultimate Guitar is a great archive, and useful for teasing out ideas - not that I'd advocate some reliance on tabs, of course! I like Guitar Pro as a tool.
7. If your drummer needs to explain to half the band that the drums are loud, then yes - go; and go now.

NBD

Now I want a NBD I'm afraid the wife has been curtailing my acquisition activities.
9. This is the one I was thinking of, and it will serve as a neighbourly bump!
10. Very cool. Didn't they do one with the inlay bars on the fretboard also? The guy from My Ruin uses one of these, and gets a lovely rock tone from it.
11. An embarrassing instance of premature anticipation
12. Tun bought my Kingston Heir 5 - good communications throughout, turned up on time and knows his stuff. Smooth transaction, would definitely deal with again
13. Martin bought my Jackson Explorer from me - great chap, no fuss and all very smooth! Deal with confidence
14. sh*t, have I stumbled into asking a controversial question?!
15. I think Herbie deserves a feedback thread. Just purchased a very nice Fender MIM P from him - very smooth deal, good communications throughout, and a warm welcome when I turned up to try. Buy with confidence from him
16. In lay terms, what's the difference between the Sub, Sterling, Stingray, etc? Assume the Stingray is the US prestige version, a la an MIA Fender? With the others being somewhat cheaper models? Good call on the lack of contouring. My Charvel gives me the kind of bruises I only ever saw after rugby!
17. Wow, this is stunning Tom - where have you been hiding this beauty?! Very sorry to hear about your health. I can empathise.
18. Serial: Through-body stringing and rear of the body: The action: I've made no adjustments. The neck is as you'd expect. Action very low near the headstock, with no buzz - rising as you move up the notes. I've made no adjustments from the settings of the previous owner, but it wouldn't take you more than five minutes to lower or raise it to your liking The only minor damage is to the uppermost point, and is paint damage - understandable, perhaps, as it projects so far! The headstock also has a ding in the point, visible above. The bass does have some buckle rash to the rear, but is otherwise in very good condition.
19. Pics, as promised! Fitted case: More of the bass itself:
20.
Totally underated bass and the only musicman I would have.I,ve had mine since 03 and it,s a belter.fits in anywhere. Bullet proof giggin bass
That's where my mind was going. Enough neck spacing to avoid any mishaps after a glass of sherry; reasonably light-weight; solid... and, I think, for the price not something I wouldn't mind leaving the house with.
21. Trying to think of who I sound like - maybe a bit like a sh*te Duff McKagan? A bit hard rock meets heavy metal, from the bands perspective - something much akin to the Black Spiders in sound. Might add some useful context. Certainly would be looking for something to match the aggression of my pointy basses!
22. Chaps, am looking to take an opinion here. How useful is the Sub as a rock bass? I'm attempting to have a try of one tonight, but am looking for some additional opinions to help baseline my forthcoming experience. My BC Rich Eagles are either single or double P-pick ups; the STs and Charvel P/J combos - I tend to play off the P, with plenty of mids in the band mix. I enjoyed the MM-style pick-up on my former MTD - so am assuming the Sub would be more of the same, but in a more simplistic package?
23. I always find dissatisfaction, but I'm now inclined to believe that the dissatisfaction stems more from my playing than the instrument itself - that I'll never quite make them sound like the legends; which drives me off on yet another search. In short, I don't think it's the bass - I think it's me!
24. Bumped for new price. Have eye on something else, so open to all offers.
25. PM'ed
