Red's posted the Dick Venom clip - some really good stuff there, from previously looking it up on Youtube!

I'd like to play with Holly Vallance. In the meantime, I'm reasonably happy where I am - provided you have space to play, it should be pretty good wherever, no?

Mike Tobias had a hand in selecting the pre-amp for this one, so you can't say better - the man himself getting on the line to Bass Bunny to tell him what he thought was the best The B is very tight, to the point where I thought of joining in that Dingwalls-do-it-better debate - as I've not seen any better than this. The zero-fret keeps it tight, and I've had another set of Elixirs on it since picking it up. The weight is a good point, as it's a very light base by my standards. I swapped out my previous five for this when I damaged my back, and the primary attraction was the blessed relief of finally having a lightweight five! I've had some nibbles, but I suspect many people are waiting for other items to sell to free up cash.

Quick edit: am more than happy to post! All, this is my Jackson KBX Kelly Explorer: I'm chasing the full specifications, but this is the KBX1, I understand - with Duncan Designed® humbuckers and the Duncan Designed® BEQ3 Preamp for Master Volume/Blend/Bass/Middle/ Treble and Slap Switch (Mid Scoop/High Frequency Boost). I'll confirm neck scale tonight, but it's a long neck - with things kept tight by through-body stringing. The neck, for those unfamiliar with Jacksons/Charvels, is very Jazz-like - it's slim and fast, with good access. There is no seperate battery cavity - instead, it sits in a recess alongside the electronics. It does suffer from some neck dive, additionally, but this is easily compensated for. This will go with it's fitted hardcase, which is in great nick - and, frankly, is worth it's weight in gold. I doubt you'll find many hardcases for these. I'll try and dig out the full manufacturers specs after work. I'll get some additional shots of the bass and case. Asking £350 cash or equivalent trades - still after a decent P or Jazz, 4-string, with cash either way. BC Riches always considered, as my signature would suggest However, the shape will be marmite, so I'm a little more open to offers. The case itself is worth it's weight in gold, as you're unlikely to find another fitted case for this shape. However, I can break the price up and give you one for just the bass itself. Based in North Yorks. Collection prefered, and I do a mean cuppa for those wishing to try

Quick edit: am more than happy to post! Thinking back to the parody sales threads, I'm trying to avoid the old cliches To put it simply, I'm not playing this one. It's a very fine bass, and frankly wasted on a luddite like myself. I'm going to borrow some old pics, whilst I arrange for some new ones - but this is it, my MTD Kingston Heir 5: Manufacturer specs can be found here: http://www.mtdkingston.com/basses/heir.htm Over and above those specs, previous owner BassBunny had a Bartolini pre-amp installed. It's the Bart 5.4 AP pre-amp and was set-up and installed by Steve Robinson of Sale, who also installed a flip-up battery cover at the rear. Quoting directly from BassBunny: "Mike Tobias recommended the pre and it is amazing. Usual controls, Vol/Bal/Bass/Middle/Treble and a push/pull on the Volume for Active/Passive. It also has a 3 position toggle that changes the "Mid" frequencies." There is a small ding in the headstock, and some scratching to the lower rear (matron), but otherwise in fine condition. It's a light bass, which was my main attraction. I was playing 5-string and had just slipped my disc, so finding this came as a great relief - literally! It's got great access to the fretboard, which meant fewer contortions whilst playing - in fact, the neck tapers as you move up the notes, which is a blessing; whilst the 35" scale and zero-fret help keep things tight and tidy. Asking for £350 cash outright - trades are more flexible. I'd like a decent Precision or Jazz ideally, 4-string prefered (if it's another five, I'd be looking for a Jazz). However, I am willing to listen to trade offers - including cash either way, if the values don't balance neatly. I'll grab some additional pictures this evening, but am happy to take requests Based in North Yorks. Collection prefered, and I do a mean cuppa for those wishing to try

Can someone please tell me how you get this tone?

Had I posted the Quo, Spoom, you might have been close. Either that, or you sip your shandy in some different places to me Heads Fall was a brilliant album. Had pretty much forgotten all about. Managed to get close with my Eagle after some fiddling - pity I don't like playing pick, as I really like this. -
What is it about Ironbird necks?!

The bands bring people in; people drink; drink means profit. It will be different for all pubs, mind, but those were the simple economics when I managed a bar. Some will also loss-lead to build rep/penetration - £200 to play to 8 punters doesn't work, but if you can grow those numbers it soon will. Thinking back, I remember the upturn on a Sunday quiz (£50 in prizes) being £200 more in drinks, even in my little village pub!

I'm pretty sure I've seen this somewhere on Basschat, but was browsing Youtube for inspiration and hit upon: Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's great - it's relentless and harsh. Surely it's not just the choice of Precision, what else is in the mix?
-
But if you want to modify a bass, then why start from a MM? Surely you'd be a MM because you want a MM, not a blank canvas for your efforts? Is that not the crux of this business about burning money, etc?

Lakland have QC issues? Surely no more than any sod else?
