Amen to the above. I added the caveat of "great condition" to my comment - as we've seen a couple of spotless examples hit that. Totally depends on who has the cash at the time. I'm still waiting for the account details so I can send the fiver. Assume includes delivery and case?

Gone to a new home - thanks for all your enquiries ------------------------------------------------------------- As per the previous, I am consolidating! Yay for me, but feel my sorrow - I'm letting some fun basses go. This certainly falls into the fun category. 1984 Nagoya Japan BC Rich Eagle - originally a deep punk pink/purple it's now lightening with age. It's certainly very bright, and with the original hardware - the pick-ups are nice and hot, and the BCR-marked Gotohs are a nice touch. It's a very light bass. Neck slightly chunkier than a Fender P, with much the same effect through the sound. Strung with EB Slinkys (fitted in Feb). THIS BIT IS IMPORTANT. FOCUS, PEOPLE. Shockwave previously imported this bass from the States, care of a rather heavy handed courier and from a chap who know little about packing, with a resultant neck break in transit. Rob had this professional repaired, including the finish on the painted neck. It makes it very hard for me to take shots (being under paint, and so on) but I want people to be aware. I'm hoping he'll be along to share a little more information. The bass is nicely mojo'ed to my eyes, with rub along the top of the body from arm contact. It sports a variety of dings and rashes, as befits it's age. As a result of all the above, I'm not so keen on shipping - I'd prefer people to come and see and make their own minds up. It will work for some people, it won't for others. Anyway, porn: Asking £250 or close offers.

Back again - am having a punt on something else, and this would need to go to fund it. I sold this bass previously, and bought it straight back - which says everything about how much I cherish this, and how nice a player it is. Sale starting at £300, Comes with gig bag. Collection prefered. ------------------------------------------------------------- This is my 1988 Charvel 575. Sounds like a rhino clearing it's throat, very hot pick-ups and a super-slim neck - oh, and all-Jackson hardware. Absolutely smashing rock bass, really can't fault it. It's age does mean a couple of spots to point out - one ding near the rear strap holder, which has gone through the paint; some minor scuffing to the point of the headstock; and the ubiquitous bucklerash. However, overall the bass is clean and in good condition. Strung with EB Slinkys I will confirm the date from the serial this evening, but I garnered the above from a discussion with an American Charvel forum. This will be a real kicker to let go. It has a heady pang of regret about it, and I've not even finished typing. Let's have some porn to cheer me up: I'm asking £300 or close offers, as I think that's what I paid originally. As per my last thread, I was hoping to reduce the size of my collection and consolidate around a few basses - however, trades will be considered on their merits. Collection prefered, as that way you can try the bass and have a cup of tea. Would be happy to ship or consider delivery, but let's chat about that.

This is no longer available. Many thanks to those who've made enquiries. The bass will shortly be heading to Middlesborough. An old colleague parted terms with the company last year and has had to make some economic adjustments - whilst he might have flogged his own, I did suggest he borrow mine for the while. Not quite what I was expecting, but I'm feeling pretty good about it. We'll have to see if I'm still trimming down when it comes back. Thanks all. ------------------------------------------------------------------ As the title suggests, I think I've got rather too many basses - and it's unbecoming of a young gentleman to leave so many unplayed! This is my MIM Fender P. It's in great condition, as I hope the pictures show. I would hope the Basschat community would know all about P-basses by now, but this is a great example of the MIM breed. Fitted with new EB Slinkys, it's a great little rock and pop bass. I'm asking for £300 as is. I have had some Wizard Area 51s in this previously, and would be happy to supply them too for £350 or thereabouts. Anyway, time for the porn: Collection is prefered, naturally, as it gives you a chance to try - and also a cup of tea, courtesy of my good self. I'd be happy to ship or deliver, within reason, but let's discuss that. Trade-wise, I don't think I need anything on a like-for-like basis. I was either in the hunt for another Grabber or a Lakland DJ4. If you've had a smoke and fancy a straight swap, please don't let my honesty deter you; but I think I'd mainly be after cash, which I can then reinvest in something

Any chance of you taking some more shots for the Gear Porn section? I'm sure others, like me, would like to see more!

All sounded very fishy. Some salutary lessons about not adhering to strange payment requests and investigating items. Hope this works out in the end.

Is the correct answer: wherever I can fit?
-
£5. Give me your account details, I'll send it now. I would think it would be worth quite a bit. Examples in great condition have gone for £1500+ on Ebay - but, that's great condition or flawless. Ultimately, it's worth what someone will pay - which should be the standard answer whenever these things come up. The market is pretty flat at the moment.
Amazing looking bass. Wouldn't be tempted for a dj4 for dj4 swap? Lake placid blue with rosewood.
Haha, I like this - best of worlds. Champion gets his trade, and he also gets another DJ4 for when he realises how amazing these basses are! Eventually, I want another DJ4 like this. I'd just need to clear my signature to do it, as I don't think I need them all - not with the DJ4 being as brilliant as it is.

Sorry, to make clear, I've had the Hartke repaired - by Basschat's own iCastle, who did a great job - it's simply heavy as sin and ageing, hence my thought to get myself some options. I think it will happily sit in the rehearsal space.
-
So, is the consensus that these are ok - but with some horryfing exceptions - but that there are definitely better options available in the lightweight space? Assuming I would need to scale my budget up/stop drinking coke to fund, with the usual suspects being GB, Orange and Markbass? £600-£700?

Scott was a total dude. Great clip of him and Geoff in action. Some very high standards on display, was very inspiring. -
Thanks Danny. I think that's the wall I've hit. Will try again tonight and make sure I've set it to Dry - I think anything else just doesn't seem to work, whilst individually they sound great. No complaints individually - both great and economic pedals.

I'm considering some options following iCastle's kind repair of my Hartke 3500 head. Whilst I'm considering lightening the bass collection, I'm also looking at lightening the amp too - possibly leaving the Hartke at the rehearsal space where it can do some good, and picking up something light yet powerful for playing live. My requirements would run as follows:
Light Powerful (c.350W or more) and able to be used in small venues Ease of use Bag over hardcase Good rock tone
It was suggested that something like the Ashdown Little Giant - in either 350W or 1000W incarnations - might do the job. Was hoping we'd have some users on the forum able to share their experiences. I'm open to alternative suggestions, of course. Budget-wise, I'm afraid I have a loose crown - so assuming my dentist leaves me something, I'd not want to pay more than £400 either new or second-hand.

I'd like to second the above thanks to Keith for organising - Keith, if you need a hand next year, I'd be more than happy to help. I think you did a great job. Was good to meet so many forum members, and you all have some very nice kit. I was a little hesitant, being a first-timer, but can see this growing on me; and I'm still surprised at how local some of us are! Suggest some York beers? Many thanks to Scott and Geoff for their great session. Thoroughly enjoyed Scott's banter, and he had some great advice for a bassist of my level. Hit the spot. -
... Designed by Sue Ryder and Fender, and signed by the great dame herself!
-
My thoughts. That didn't sound like a bad first gig. A bad first gig often produces no sound at all, so you've managed to achieve more than many That's a lot of songs for a the rehearsals. Molan mentions it above, but it's quality over quantity - have 20 well-learned tracks rather than 40 part-learned ones. Can you not get those plastic-disc things to dampen the drum volume? After that hazy description they're probably called dampeners

Is there any secret to using the Muff alongside an Overdrive pedal? My ODB3 has a selector for distortion, but it very quickly turns to muck.

In like Flynn, after feeling pretty pumped for this now the sun is making a first appearance. I think I'll have the Gibson with me, but we'll see on the morning. I shall no doubt be spending Satiurday trying to undo my pleb set-ups for something a little more refined -
Oh, I can't solder for toffee - but I'm getting good at a little sprucing up! There were two yucky marks on the lacquer at the rear of the neck, which were quite sticky and annoying whilst playing - some wire wool and a little oil, et voila. Smooth as. I'm really enjoying the Grabber. It has the kind of neck that you'd fight intruders off with. The tone is unbelievable and exactly what I wanted. Somebody should buy all my other basses, as I feel like I might want to try a Ripper
