1.
Probably an exclusivity deal
After a bit of searching, there's a store in Italy that sells Sires as well. From what I remember it's all about the pricing policy Sire have...if you don't agree to it, no bass.
2. Yes, the 75. They look lovely, limited edition though. They're also doing the standard V7 in red as well I believe. There are also murmurings about a P bass. Shame only Thomann seem to have the foresight to stock Sire in Europe.
3. Black and tort, I've gone quite giddy
4. And so much space you could drive a fleet of buses through the whole song...totally awesome
5.
Every time i revisit this thread, I am always hopeful there would be some decent insight. Unfortunately I feel as if I have wasted a minute or so.
Don't give up heart, there's always the Macca thread.
6. I've got one
7.
That is not a cool look.
Damn it
8.
Did someone mention headbands?
I dare anyone to say that is not a cool look.
9.
Fret...don't fret...just stay away from the headbands. Ethnic beanie, tea cosy or jazz beret if you must.....even a pork-pie hat, but for the love of God....no headbands.
Are we just talking the elasticated toweling things here?
10. Indeed, people should fret less.
11. 10cc -10cc was the first album I bought with my own money, I think I was about 8. I played it continuously for 2 years, that's how long it took me to save up for my next purchase Hugely creative, and I suppose I still look for that in the music I listen to now. Very interesting programme.
12. Great vocalist and a great frontman.
13. That is absolutely lovely. And for £700 is equally stunning. Happy new bass day
14. Quite a lot of the website seems to have gone missing.
15. POLAR audio are the distributor for Ampeg in the UK.
16. I played a couple of Fleetwood Mac songs in a band last year and loved playing those bass lines. McVie has great taste in what he plays IMO
17.
I also heard Tony did lead vocals for a bit. He's retired these days and teaches music in the West Country.
He teaches in North Devon. I went to a showcase of his students work he put on a few Christmases ago. It was at the pub all the students frequent when they're supposed to be in class...we went there when we were students 20 years before
18. I've seen people wanting well over £300 for one of these amps so this is almost giving it away,
19. Queen with Freddie. Pink Floyd (although to see them with Roger Waters still in the band I would have been about 8 ) REM.
20.
Actually yes - I sprang fully-formed from a riven oak tree one stormy night in 1860.
That'll explain quite a lot
21. Keep the Lakland. If it's a bass you like and feel comfortable with, keep it.
22.
What other retailers would you suggest, in line with BD? Does anywhere in the UK stock Fodera? Just so I know what £7000 feels like!
I don't know about the UK but Thomann, I think, stock some Fodera's. You could take advantage of distance selling regulations.
23. I have fairly agricultural paddles for hands but don't find the controls on the V7 a problem at all.
24. I use compression sometimes, and sometimes I don't. I use it for the a little subtle addition to tone not to take anything away.
Lots of pro players seems to use a degree of compression all the time (Marcus Miller, Tony Levin to name a couple of examples). Perhaps they need to sort out their technique... what do you think?
It is a quandary as to why so many big name bass players use compression. You would have thought, given they've got all their time to devote to just playing, they'd have practised enough to have exemplary technique
25. I've had no regrets at all about buying my V7. It's probably been the only piece of gear I haven't thought I'd had maybe been better buying something else. Definitely a keeper. I'm waiting to see what the P bass will be like.
