1. You pay UK vat when buying from Thomann, EU law.
2.
Thanks, but don't buy one on the strength of my review - you may be disappointed. Seriously though, they would be great at twice the price.
Calm down that man
3.
They're too light, people prefer amps that weigh around 12kg. Tone Hammers tend to blow away in the slightest breeze.
I was using my TH last night, I sneezed and it flew off the top of my cab 😳
4. Big heavy rigs are great...until you have to move the things. I only ever went as far as a 410 cab and rack mount amp and other bits but that was enough. Even the 30 steps from the car to rehearsal room become tedious. Give me lightweight any day, my current amp weighs 3lbs or just over 1.3kg.
5. Incompetent fretboard botherer and string tickler. If pressed I'd use the term bass player as I play bass. I never use the term guitar when referring to the instrument so wouldn't use guitarist. Bass guitar just doesn't sound right to me, it's a bass.
6.
Front to back. It's a pb50.
That makes sense, thanks Just increased my GAS level.
7. I'm very very tempted by the JB-75. I've been toying with getting a back up/2nd jazz or p bass and was looking at old Squiers. These HB's are cheaper...as for quality, from what I've seen and heard, the HB's seem very good indeed.
I've got one, easily the equal of a squier or similar. Proper chunky neck though.
I assume you mean from front to back rather than nut width. Is that on the JB-75 or the PB50?
8. I'm neither Italian or helpful...that's me out on both.
9. I can't play guitar and would only ever get to be a really crap rhythm guitarist and rhythm guitar is sadder than bass..so yeah for bass! ????
10. The MAG115 (slim) cabs are still around. They come up second hand. However, as Ashdown are now on to the Rootmaster series, stores with the older MAG series will/are selling the MAGs new for about the same as you can get them used. PMT have one in stock. 11. I've got 2 basses, one if which I don't really use but won't sell because it's not worth an awful lot. The there's one amp, one cab a couple of stands, a case for each bass, some cables and a Zoom B1on I use for home practice. Just enough to do what I need to do.
12. The TE website doesn't appear to have been updated for some considerable time. It's won't be long until TE is no more I imagine.
13.
For myself it's only the six years I've been on Basschat. The 34 years before that I was perfectly happy with my gear. But I still don't want to know how much I've spent/lost in that time.
I've been keeping a record of your transactions and can forward the total amount spent to you if you want
14.
Remember, as I always say, "It's a business"
Gigging covers is a business, music is a creative art form.
15. Link not working for me
16. I can't see many people going for this at £380. It's a great concept, just too expensive.
17. Can we stop the puns and get back on topic...don't let me down.
18. Fender really have done a great job with the V3 Rumble series. The 500 combo is very loud for a 210 and has a great tone, it's very difficult to make it sound bad. The overdrive circuit can add some lovely harmonics but doesn't make you sound like you've turned into a metal guitarist. It's quite a small cabinet and very light. It must be seriously loud with an extension cab. If I were to go back to a combo then this is what I'd buy, i just really like its tone.
19. Aaaaaggggghhhhh! OMG a post out of context! Quickly someone, check all the other threads to make sure it doesn't happen again.
20.
Have you not read the thread's title?
Did you read the post to which Ubit was replying?
21.
It's nothing to do with down sizing, volume knob job done.
You can play around with the volume knob to your heart's content, but it won't make an Ampeg 410 any lighter or physically smaller. Reducing audible volume does not reduce physical volume to make it more practical for smaller venues.
22. I'm down to 2. I only really use one of them though.
23. Join a band. It does 2 things. Firstly it ups your playing. Secondly, you realise that you aren't crap at all and that all the people you thought would be brilliant are at best average
24.
Yes, I'm ordering one today.
What's wrong with the box it came in?
25.
the headstock though
It's not great, but then neither are the headstocks on Sadowsky's, Fodera's, D Lakin, G&L's and others ( all of which cost more as well).
