  1. We did a ticketed charity gig last night at a local music venue. It was our gig, our singer organised it all (the venue also helped masses). As we're still a newish band, this was our 6th gig, it was a bit squeaky butt timeas to how many would turn up. In the end we were absolutely chuffed to get a decent number there. And a great crowd they were as well. It was a really cracking night and we raised several hundred £s in the end. We had support from a former band mate of mine, who did a great solo set and went down a storm. We're all still buzzing I think.
  2. Someone's got to pay U2's taxes.
  3. Firstly, this is a cab I wanted when Genz Benz still existed. I never had enough bass tokens for one though. I'd not even heard one though. 2 12in drivers with a tweeter. 4ohm. 600w. 23kg. I bought this from @wavydavy Dave on here, and it was a great transaction (prompt and well packaged etc). I was going to buy a new bass, but I saw this and thought... let's get it. I used it for the first time last night at practice. I am really happy with it, especially in combination with the Bugera Veyron I bought recently. The lows are really tight and focused. It sounded really punchy . It's quite 'sparkly' even without the tweeter in use. I'm really looking forward to using at the weekend, especially as our drummer is using his Gretcsh kit not his electric 😁
  4. New job Monday.

Good luck on your first day at your new job, Marvin! :)

Bit late to the party, but yeah: good luck!

  5. I'm probably going to go for the Squier. One thing I have noticed with the Vintera is the truss rod is at the heel which, although period correct, is irritating.
  6. We played at a village hall last night. It was a ticketed beer and cider festival. We had great fun. Everything went well. We set up quickly, got the sound right, played really tight and we performed really well. It was a good confidence booster as we've had a couple of wobbles lately, but we were on it last night. I'm absolutely done in though 🤣
  7. Would it be fair to say the Vintera is quite a bit of money to have a Fender decal on the headstock?
  8. I'm looking to buy another Jazz bass and the 2 candidates (the only candidates) are first version of the Fender Vintera 60s Jazz or the Squier CV 60s Jazz. I'd just be interested in opinions on either, especially what the necks are like. Thanks
  9. It's not a great photo tbh, but this is all I'm using at the moment, the Bugera and Fender 210... obviously there's a bass plugged into it. 😁 I'm going to try the Peavey head out at next practice. It belongs to our guitarist. Sounds nice at home, I'm very curious as to how it sounds with the band. Who knows, I might offer him a tenner for it.

The bass looks fantastic. I'm a sucker for black and tort.
  11. I need 2nd Jazz bass in my life

What about the third and fourth Jazz Basses..? 🤦‍♂️

I might need training,  but I could work up to that.

I'm currently at 8 with the 9th coming in May, so there's always room for one extra.

  12. Nicko, what great character
  13. Trousers, jeans or such like and no belt.
  14. He's seems to be seen as uncool by some, but he is brilliant live. Keith Scott, his guitarist, is pretty darn good.
  15. I've just been playing around with my pedal board with the Veyron. I've a preamp pedal and a compressor pedal on it. I used to use them to for tone shaping. Absolutely redundant now (bar the tuner pedal). The Veyron sounds better without the pedals. I don't even have to adjust the tone controls on the amp either. Anyone want a pedalboard? 🤣🤣
  16. Soapy looking maple necks. The ones that are light in colour and with very little grain.
  17. Just that really. The band needs some business cards printed up. Is there anywhere that's recommended? I'd just go to Vista Print I suppose Ta
  18. Desk? Music desk? What is this you speak of? My basses live in their cases in the corner of the dinning room and ALL my other gear lives under the stairs. 😁
  19. Due to my other amp dying I had to get an amp for last night's gig. I got the Bugera delivered on Thursday, so no time to try it out with the band. Set it up at the pub we played at, Sire V7 with a Fender 210 cab. All 4 of us in the band just went "that sounds good". Great clean tone with barely any adjustments. So easy to use out of the box. It's light and feels very well put together. The sockets feel firm, especially the speaker cable connection. On my Peavey the speaker socket was always a bit awkward to get the connector to twist. The control knobs feel a little less robust, but not awful. It doesn't come with a carry bag, but for an amp that costs just £230 it's really no problem. I've commandeered a laptop bag. The onboard dual band compressor sounds better than my cheap pedal. There are plenty of tonal options with the eq section. I especially like the midrange selector. The DI seems really good. FX loop connection. Headphone and aux in. Very impressed.
  20. I've owned the v2 210 350w Combo and the v3 210 500w combo. I currently own the v3 210 cab. And have on a couple of occasions used one of the v1 combos. The v1 combos, just don't waste your time. A forgettable tone and seriously underpowered but overweight. The v2 combo. It was OK. I didn't know as much as I do now about getting a better sound out of an amp so perhaps a bit of knob twiddling might have helped. It was usable, a decent enough tone, but lacked a bit of something. It was also a bit heavy and cumbersome to move around. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't love it either. The v3 combo is leagues ahead of the previous 2 in my opinion. Tones, volume, portability, usability. It's a really great sounding combo. I sold mine, but I've got a mate who's got one and if we share a lineup and he's letting people use the v3 I'll use that. The v3 210 cab is just excellent value. Light and sounds good.
  21. Good fun last night if not a bit odd. Our 5th gig and definitely our strongest one so far. None of us have been the ones who've sorted out the sound etc so it's been a steep learning curve. Last night we felt we'd turned a corner. Set up quickly and the mix and sound was much better than previously. It was also our strongest performance as such. It was one of those though where people told us afterwards we were great and loved the set, but didn't really get up and have a wee jig. We enjoyed it nonetheless
  22. The Bugera Veyron M arrived yesterday (very well packaged I might add). Tested it last night and all works fine. 2 noticeable things. It's loud. Also it sounds really nice. Had it set up in the living room and my wife suddenly said "that sounds good". (Although it may have been a comment on my playing 😄). When I've had a chance to use it properly I might even do a new amp thread. Thanks again everyone
  23. Cheers Phil. It has been a bit of a stressfull couple of days. I should have a Bugera VeyronM coming today. I might have been able to afford something a bit more if I'd got an instant refund on the Ashdown. Hopefully it'll be fine. They've got a decent reputation. When I've got a refund I might buy the DeltaBass, I'm quite taken with it. It looks pretty 😎 😁
