1. A Zoom B1on. That's all I use at home. If you don't mind using headphones it's got everything you need really. If I were looking at a practice combo, that's easy, a Fender Rumble (just pick the size to suit need). They are lovely sounding combos with good features.
2. Leave the knobs alone, it'll only end in embarrassment
3. I actually use a black plastic toolbox I bought cheap from Lidl. It's got my 2 Hercules mini stands in the bottom, all my leads a cables I use and emergency kit (screwdrivers, pliers, batteries and other stuff)
4. You might find a second hand/older model, however, the only Attitude that Yamaha make now is Sheehan's signature model.
5. Yes they do, although I suspect it depends on what level of pro/touring player. It probably explains why boutique gear is rarely seen on stages.
6. I leave all this kind of thing to our road crew
7. It really depends on your budget, and what sort of music you'd be playing...you don't want to be struggling to be heard obviously. If you've got a good budget then I'd be looking at one of the lightweight 212 cabs from say Bergantino, TKS, Barefaced etc combined with a lightweight head. If however you're a bit more money conscious (like me ), then for a lightweight combo that doesn't cost a lot either it's hard to beat the Fender Rumble 500 v3. Lovely tone, holds its own volume wise in all but the loudest bands, even then you can add another cab and blow your bandmates through buildings. Great little combos...
8. It's definitely for the seller to refund the buyer and then the seller to seek compensation from the courier.
9.
Saw The Winery Dogs Last night in Bristol - Awesome! Billy Sheehan, Mike Portnoy and Richie Kotzen at their explosive best!
I was there, and they were awesome...and explosive.
10. I sold a Yamaha bass to David. Excellent communications and a pleasure to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with David again. Cheers
11.
Nice plug, but you're going to have to say it louder if you want any prezzies
IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW
Me too haha! 65 tomorrow Happy birthday Marvin
Happy birthday to you to for tomorrow. Quality people born on 31st you see
12. I see the over 50's have just got out of bed, now nearly neck and neck with the 40-50's.
13. A day from now I'll be a year older.
14. My basses are cool, that's all anyone needs to know
15. I had one of those 'health checks' a couple of months back and although I'm approaching 43 I've got the metabolism of a 24 year old....and no, he's not having his metabolism back.
16.
They had Salmon Dave play there back in the 60s
Quite the plaice to play then.
17.
I will be 47 this year, and I am the oldest in the band, but also the most immature!
I found that most of the young people I've been in bands with just aren't immature enough...they're so serious
18.
Yep Me too - if it gets cancelled I'm now blaming you!
Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything
19.
42 and desperately trying to continue playing bass in a band whilst bringing up a family. Gets me down quite a lot only having pretty basic basses and amps (browsing on here doesn't help ) but I have amazing kids that need my money more!
I'm the same age (although in a few days time I'll be a year older ) and I have a self imposed rule that I don't use, what I refer to as, household money to buy gear. Hence I always ask for money for Christmas and Birthdays if people feel they want to give me anything. I'd say I have good, price conscious gear I'd feel guilty as sin if I spent 'house' money on all the GAS I suffer from
20. I've tickets to see The Winery Dogs next Tuesday in Bristol. Very much looking forward to seeing them again. Hopefully there'll be no calamitous weather conditions that prevents us getting there I missed a gig by a different band back before Christmas because of the heavy rain and flooding.
21. My Facebook profile says that I'm 22, even if it is wrong I'm sticking with it In truth I'll be 43 on Sunday, gifts kindly accepted Mortgage, children and work do get in the way of joining the bands I'd like to, buy hey ho. Anyway, I'm in a good band now and am thoroughly enjoying it. All about getting the balance right. I'm similar to Gary. Most of the people my age want to do material that doesn't interest me. It's probably why I've been in a couple of projects with people in their 20s.
22.
Or got wet. Its still amazing though.
With the right stuff it'll be as waterproof as the surf board they made.
23. Love it. It'd be interesting to see a bass made of cardboard given the amount of tension.
24. It's all boxed and ready to ship. I've still got the boxes I bought it in from DV247. They're about £80 new, so this is half price Good piece of kit, just surplus to requirement now as I've got a very different set up.
25. PM replied. On hold.
