1. My current band will do an absolute maximum of 80mins, it's more likely to be an hour though. That's the way we like it.
2.
That's what I'm doing, thanks. It's a credibility barrier thing. I don't see how I'm going to get faster and looking for reassurance that it does happen! Pressure to get it 'up to speed' from band as usual!
Tell them when you feel you've nailed it then you'll play it, until then they'll have to wait. No one else in bands seem to get this sort of pressure. In my experience if the guitarist or singer struggles with a song the it's 'oh well, never mind, we'll try something else '. Bass player has a few issues then it's 'just get on and learn it, and quickly '. Really boils my waste blood.
3. The guitar riff sounds like a blatant lift from this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gD4PJW4R1ec
4. New material from The Stone Roses, potentially a new album on the horizon https://youtu.be/R0XZ9qjMil8 What do you think?
5. I'd look at maybe an inexpensive preamp or tone shaping pedal first, to see if that helps. You could consider thd Behringer BDI21 or maybe a Zoom B1on and experiment with the amp sims it has. Neither are expensive. The thiness in the sound from the bass may be the onboard electronics. Weak electronics is not an uncommon criticism of Ibanez in house stuff.
6. I recently fitted my two main basses with Schaller's. It makes changing basses quite easy, just unlock the strap and pop it on the other bass. It also means just having one strap. They aren't a must, but I definitely feel my basses are more secure now.
7. For practising with headphones with an aux input, no contest, Zoom B1on. They're about £40, so no massive outlay for getting back into playing again
8. I'm in an Indie Punk Rock band playing all original material currently. We're playing a mates wedding this weekend and we fully expect to clear the wedding venue let alone the dance floor as soon as we start.
9.
Why the hell is this still here!??
My thoughts exactly, great cab for a great price
10. I had an Ampeg 410 that had castors and never noticed any change in sound whether they were on or off.
11. Sorry, I misread which Zoom you have. I've got the B1on which has a 3.5mm aux in. It's part of the reason I didn't get the B3
12. Have you considered using the headphone socket on the phone and connecting that way? A short cable with 3.5mm jacks either end wouldn't be very expensive and should do the trick. It's how I connect my iPod to my Zoom for playing to recordings.
13. The Schroeder 310 is available in 4 or 8ohm config. I've got an older 1212l with the angled driver. It really does create a lot of noise. They have a pronounced mid hump which makes their presence known in a band environment. I practice with an old 412, I haven't a clue what it is bar that it's old...my Schroeder can easily keep up with it. 15. Very 'nothingey'. Inoffensive and easily ignored is the best I can describe it as.
16. Crikey. My house walls are creaking just looking at it Very nice.
17. Congratulations. However, unless you supply pictures we just won't believe you bought anything
18. When I started playing again several years ago I felt I couldn't say no to any band offer. So, I ended up in stuff I really hated...and in loads of stuff that just didn't last. After the best band I'd been in folded, that was it, I became incredibly picky. Several former band mates asked me to form or join stuff and I point blank refused. I'm now in an originals band (I'm in my mid 40's) and I'm, musically, much happier. There's no money in it, but then I never seemed to get anything from playing covers to be honest, and now I only play for 45mins rather than 2hours I know of a bass player local to me, he's very good, way better than me, previously signed artist etc etc, he can't get a band together for love nor money. He's been trying to get a funk, soul thing started up and he's had no luck at all. I suppose it falls outside the staple diet of folk or rock and pop covers that musos around this way seem to head for.

20. I did have 3, then I sold one so it was 2, but I couldn't help myself and now I've got 3 again.
21. It's pretty much an all in house design and spec bass. Sire don't really buy in off the shelf parts, from what they've said. For example, from looking at the pickguard, I doubt there are many replacement pgs that'll fit without a bit of fettling. The neck plate is standard From the thread on TalkBass, modding these basses is rare.
22. I never play with a pick, I simply can't get the hang of playing with one
23.
Yeah, there's a clanger, but it's got so much more life than the polished-to-blandness stuff populating the chart these days.
Couldn't agree more
24. Bit like a hot hatch
25.
Some/all other members of the band being massive bell-ends, messing about and not getting anything done.
That pretty much sums it up. People who turn up having not learnt the material, even worse when it's original stuff and they wrote it. Endless excuses why they can't practice, rehearse or gig. Never being available to gig. Not being able to play. 'That'll do' mentality. Band members have generally turned out to be a major disappointment. It seems that because people play an instrument or sing they feel they have to conform to the stereotype of being a flaky, unreliable bell end.
