1. A guitar can wail and scream like the human voice, and can cover all those other human emotions because it has the right range. I'll listen to bass solos occasionally, and it can be interesting to some extent but they do tend to smack of "look at me, I can do what the lead guitarist does". I've never heard a bass solo that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...that's the sum of it for me.
2. That looks great.
3. Keef is clearly going through a period of delirium.
4.
Richards also thinks Led Zeppelin are cr4p.
Cream apparently didn't think they were very good either...they didn't think the Stones were any good at all though
5. It's totally unworkable and sends out completely the wrong message. From what I read the whole issue was that the music industry said they'd not been compensated for loss of revenue from this new law (that permitted ripping). The figure was something like £58m. They'd have never seen that anyway. The result is that the industry had made itself look greedy, vindictive and actively going after people who have actually bought music. I agree with BRX, it's baffling as to why the Musicians Union got involved with this. I think their efforts would be better focused on getting artists a better deal from labels regards streaming.
6. It does say in the delivery cost section that only orders over £150 are free. https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/bezorgen/verzendkosten
7. The prices may be good, BUT, the whole site smacks of something not being quite right. I did notice there was one very disgruntled customer on their Facebook page who was very unhappy with an order. I think I'll avoid.
8. Aaaaaggghhhh! It's like the old days of dial up
9.
You're not looking at one of those bongo sites by mistake, are you..?
10. Some very good prices, very competitive with Thomann. But yes, the website could do with some work. It started all very well and I wondered what people were on about but they trying to flick between pages it started to hang.
11.
The Beatles were decent... but they didn't write a riff like Davidian by Machine Head.
There's lots of songs and riffs they didn't write.
12. Having watched said programme on Sky Arts I'd say The Admirals assessment was bang on. Caribou and Alt-J are particularly awful. Do these bands not know how to engage an audience. The looked amateurish. Even the Manics were very meh! They all looked like they couldn't wait to get off stage.
13.
I don't see many rock bands today playing completely live and singing 2 & 3 part harmonies. Blue
You haven't had the opportunity to see the UK band Dodgy then?
14. I've only got experience of the Rockbass version of the Corvette, I hated it. Probably the most uncomfortable bass I've ever played. Perhaps the genuine article is different, but the way it hung on the strap, the first fret felt miles away. This with a neck that was incredibly thick, it was appalling. I was relieved to get rid of it. My Yamaha, Ibanez and Sire Jazz beat that bass hands down for playability.
15. I've started learning to play the guitar. I've got a Westfield strat copy and although for the price it's very decent I find that the string spacing is a bit narrow. If I play an open G, for example, my index finger is constantly muting the D string slightly. This sort of thing happens with other chords. Are there guitars that have wider string spacing for us thick fingered 'agricultural' types? Cheap is good by the way
16. I really must go and see Jools et al. Especially as I can get very discounted tickets. I know people who aren't even into the sort of music Jools plays but said it was still one of the best shows they've been to.
17. The 500 and 700 share the same electronics and neck, the difference is the body. 500 is all mahogony (and just waxed, which is why I never bought one as I really dislike that finish), the 700 has a maple/mahogony body with a maple top and looks great. I own a 300 but have tried the 500 and 700 on numerous occasions. I'd buy a 5 or 7 second hand but not new. The 5 and 7 are finished a little better but not enough for my liking to warrant me paying over twice the ticket price of a 300. Also regards the pups etc, the barts in the 5 and 7 sound fine, in some instances better than the stock Ibanez pups in the 300, however it's still not enough for me to buy a new one.
18. I voted some time ago, well, yesterday...it feels a long time ago
19. Still available bump. Friend of mine was really interested but series of unexpected expenses means he's out of cash for a long time.
20. Very few watts. USB interface, a laptop and some headphones at home. In a rehearsal room i use what I'd gig.
21.
Good call. The new Fender Rumbles sound very sweet. The 500W version was under £400 recently from Thomann. Frank.
Mine was a shade under £400 from Thomann.
22. We don't have any dives in this neck of the woods, it's the sticks don't you know 15-20 years ago there used to be about 2 or 3 thriving music venues around my way, I suppose they might be what some would call dives. Great bands, great nights out. If they were still up and running every band in the area would still play there. Unfortunately despite their popularity they lost shed loads of money. If it's grotty I'd still play there. However, if it's a place known for violence, constant bust ups and fights I'd not be keen
23.
She HATES Jazz and thinks it's all pretentious b*ll*cks.
That must be awful...living with someone who's right all the time
24. Technically speaking basses not sent in a hardcase are sent at the shop/sender's risk, as it is them and not the purchaser who have the contract with the courier. The seller is responsible for the goods right up until the point the purchaser takes delivery of them, it or whatever. I'm not sure whether the T&C statement would stand up if challenged.
