  1. In Totally agree. I'm sure Dave Green at Ashdown would a suggest a suitable driver or someone on here would no doubt model the cab and suggest a suitable replacement. I wonder what the original owner was doing with it?
  2. I was interested in that until I realised it's a Celestion G12p 80w guitar speaker in the cab.
  3. They don't cover musical instruments. You insure separately with someone like Securus.
  4. I've been happy with Parcel force + Securus ins for lower value basses, around £500 value, works out about £15. For higher value and larger items like speakers etc. I use a Man & Van courier via Shipley. About £50-60 but insured up to £10k, doesn't need boxing or if box, no case and only touched twice. Once on collection and again when delivered. It's no good if you want to send something next day as you need to be flexible with collection and delivery times. Also prices get lower over the few days after registering the job as all the couriers bid for the job.
  5. My suggestion would be to contact Newtone strings and have a chat. They will make whatever you want/need and are very reasonable price wise.
  6. If you practice amp sounds ok through the speaker, it sounds like your headphones are not up to it. There's another post on the headphone subject and ones that come out well are Sennhieser HD206 @ £20. I'd be inclined to go this route first as the headphones are great and it might be worth trying this first as it's minimal outlay.
  7. I don't think anyone stocks Luminlay in UK but whenever I've ordered from Japan the shipping has been reasonable so that is a massive price hike. Rothko and Frost used to do a similar product, but it's nowhere near as good. I bought some and replaced it with Luminlay.
  8. "It is an Overwater guitar built in 1980." My instant reaction is, do not pass go, do not collect £200, contact Chris May @ Overwater.
  9. Is there any reason why you can't use a split shaft? Even as a temporary measure.
  10. Here it is Steve. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/544085917728589/?hoisted=false&ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Adf12078d-cccb-48b5-99f7-f0a517f664b4
  11. And you get a free hole in the body for a DFA control.
  12. Steve, If you get a chance to see Brother Strut, go. I've seen them twice and they are awesome.
  13. Some medium scale 5 string basses would be nice. Pretty thin on the ground. D'Addario - market the 5 string medium scale set you supply to Ibanez. Well actually just the "b" string will do. The other 4 are an existing medium scale set. Mono - make different rubber inserts for the bottom of the Bass Sleeve, and probably other gig bags, so they can be used for short/medium scale basses. The existing ones are just velcroed in so how difficult is it?
  14. Rothko and Frost? I know they used to do transfers as they did me some years ago. There are some guys in eBay as well.
  15. Hell of a long shot but try Mike Walsh, Zoot Bass. IIRC he was the importer of Tech Amp gear when he had his shop. I'm sure when I spoke to him once he told me he had to deal with warranty claims for the UK so would have had repair contacts here. A lot of water under the bridge since then but you never know.
  16. The ABM is pretty much Industry standard and has been refined over the years to what it is now. You could consider the Rootmaster, if you wanted to save weight. It does an approximation of the ABM sound, is loud, but doesn't seem to have the authority of the ABM. I've tried most amps on the market and Ashdown does it for me.
  17. Exactly and you can get them repaired easily. Best customer service in the business.
  18. Peter dropped in today to pick up a gig bag on his way to Chester to see Mark, @Bass Culture Lovely to have a catch up and unfortunately it wasn't long enough. Peter is an absolute gent and it was great to see you after all these years.
  19. Alan doesn't fit SIT anymore. He's switched to Newtone. Might be worth speaking to him to see if he is getting something similar from Newtone.
  20. There were quite a few BassChatters replacing the "hissy" piezo tweeters in MarkBass CMD 121 combos with the Monacor HT30. Not sure if it's a suitable replacement here but I'm sure someone will be along soon to say yay or nay.
  21. Pretty sure the BG250 like most Combo/Cabs with piezo tweeters don't have a crossover. When I dismantled mine it was a 10 ohm resistor in series. Same with a Markbass Combo.
  22. Mk1 Auralex Gramma Pad. Very little use and the box is a bit battered but the Gramma is perfect.
  23. An East Uni-pre 3k would fit the bill or I'm sure Glockenklang do a 3 knob 2 band for a lot less wings. I am a fan of both but particularly Glock. I had 4 basses with them in at one time.
  24. Ashdown Rootmaster 2x10 combo is the happy medium plus pretty light. Certainly compared to an ABM or MAG combo.
