  1. As @Dad3353has already explained that is pretty much the case but if you connected the speaker and horn in that way, bypassing the crossover, the horn would probably last a nanosecond before imploding when you started playing.
  2. The way speaker cabs that have a main driver/speaker and tweeter/horn work is that there is a crossover network in circuit. This feeds certain frequencies to either main speaker or the horn, depending on the crossover design, so only one is actually in circuit at any one time. The speaker and horn would generally be the same impedance so no matter which one is actually in circuit the amp sees the same impedance.
  3. Problem with a blend pot with a pull switch, if there is such a thing, is the size of it. What you are looking at is 2 volume tracks stacked one on top of each other with a switch on top of that. It would take a very thick body to be able to accommodate that in the control cavity.
  4. The G&L is not active in the true sense of the word. The treble and bass are passive "cut" controls. The active part is purely a line driver that boosts the signal.
  5. Tumeric has helped me. I've been talking it for years as it is good for the immune system as well. The secret is a decent strength and one without fillers. My chiropractor, who is incredibly knowledgeable on health matters, told me to get Double Strength Turmeric from Pureclinica. It's the only one she would recommend. I also occasionally use Flexiseq gel, which does help when it's really bad. The biggest help was moving to a 32" scale bass. It's unbelievable what difference a shorter scale can make. As a result I've just sold all my standard scale basses and only play medium scale now.
  6. I posted a wanted ad for some Schaller Straplocks parts. Gary, @cetera, responded super quickly and it turns out he needed some buttons, that I had and I was after the strap part so we did a trade. When they arrived there were more than expected. Gary is an absolute gent and refused some cash for the extra parts. An absolute gent and thank you so much Gary.
  7. Shake a Tail Feather, Think, Everybody Needs Somebody and Gimmi Some Lovin' are all in our set. A 10 piece Soul Band.
  8. That's pretty much the finish I got with Warnex. I'll try and find the pics I took of the finished cab. This is the best one to show the finish I managed to get.
  9. I refurbished a bass cab with Warnex Structure Paint using a foam roller and the finish was superb. I think it would work really well on a bass guitar body. It's the stuff a lot of audio companies use on PA speakers and it gives a finish not unlike Tolex. You need to build it up in thin layers, I think I did about 6, but it is so easy to apply and the roller washes out in water. I think I did a post on the refurb here. Funnily enough Thomann also list the HK version, which is in grey but pretty sure it's the same stuff. https://www.thomann.de/gb/warnex_strukturlack_1kg.htm?glp=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAqt-dBhBcEiwATw-ggNTM5hBHgvpHgrx6dGVWCyyHHuW6Ran8wilRFuRNNSfCrBwUPFY7-BoC1RcQAvD_BwE

  11. I don't think I have ever seen a blend pot with a push/pull switch. If there were such a beast it might not fit in the control cavity as it's effectively two pots and a switch stacked on top of each other. You may be able to get a 50k pot with a switch to replace the bass or treble control as obviously Bartolini have done it with the mid control. I would contact them direct. I was after some 50k centre detent pots for one of their preamps and the only place I could find them was somewhere in Europe. They were rather expensive though so didn't bother.
  12. He's a great player and a really nice person. Met him at one of the UK Bass Days where he was wandering round chatting to all and sundry after his session.
  13. Just Google Neutrik NLJ2MD-H and take your pick. This is the Jack/Speakon Combi socket.
  14. Mark Gooday posted this teaser on Facebook this morning. This is a prototype, apparently.
  15. Contact Ashdown. The best customer service in the music industry. I'm sure Dave Green or Lee can help.
  16. And if I hadn't moved to medium scale, I'd be all over it like a rash. Cracking basses.
  17. Two prototypes are up f/s on Reverb at the moment. A pink and a blue, £299 each https://reverb.com/uk/item/64053249-ashdown-roasted-the-saint-pink
  18. If you check this thread about 4 above this one, there's mention of Hipshot HB7's on a Vintera. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/472548-best-machine-heads/
  19. I've only ever used Neutrik or Switchcraft ones and they seem to last the course. I believe the Hosco ones are fitted to some Ibanez guitars and basses.
  20. Reduced again to £1395 before it goes off for a commission sale.
  21. It's not really practical to suggest replacements without modelling the cab, which I'm not able to do. There are plenty of savvy speaker guys on here that could do it or make a suitable suggestion and I'm sure one will be along in a minute. Have you thought of getting them repaired? Wembley Loudspeakers are the people to speak to and at least then the cab is original.
  22. There's a number of posts about the Mk1 version on here and not sure if there is much difference between that and the MK2 other than cosmetics. Thomann were clearing out the MK1 version a few years back for silly money and I, along with a lot of other BassChatters, got one. It was a cracking amp. Here's one of the posts
