  1. Could just be that the smaller knob has been pushed too far down and is filling on the larger? Not sure if they are push in or grub screws, but try separating them very slightly.
  2. We have some "done to death" numbers in our setlist but not the original versions and they go down really well because they are a bit different. It's a 10 piece Soul Band with three vocalists and obviously we don't fit in the Dog and Duck but they work at Weddings, Corporate, Festivals. Seven Nation Army - Ben L'Oncle Soul Mercy - The Third Degree Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - Baby Charles
  3. Would an East/ACG 01 filter or a Lutishand filter pre amp do the job? Separate filter stack for each pickup so you can shape the tone of each one.
  4. My favorite band of all time. Rocco and his 16th note bass lines are awesome. Only so much Oil in the ground. What is Hip Squib Cakes Digging on James Brown Funk the Dumb Stuff You Ought to be Having Fun Ain't Nothing Stopping Us Know. All worth a listen. I didn't mention them as they don't seem to be that well known in spite of going for 55 years. Horn players seem to know them. Probably something to do with having a 5 piece horn section.
  5. Yep,I tend to agree. The jams were more Jazz/Funk jams which is where the HH material crept in. One jam night I used to go to wasn't funk specific but there used to be some great horn players turning up occasionally and then you'd get some good funk fodder. Shake everything you got - Maceo Parker Pick Up the Pieces - AWB Cut the Cake - AWB Memphis Soul Steve - King Curtis Tell Me Something Good - Rufus Low Rider - War Love Studio Jams.
  6. I've done a couple a while back. IIRC these figured in them. Cissy Strut - The Meters Cantaloup Island - Herbie Hancock Watermelon Man - Herbie Hancock Chameleon - Herbie Hancock
  7. Yep, 1999 on the A side and Little Red Corvette on the B.
  8. Had the pleasure of seeing him a couple of times. Absolutely mesmerising live. I've still got the 12" vinyl if 1999/ Little Red Corvette. Fave track/performance is something he wrote for Maurice Day and The Time and performed live on the Welcome to America tour. "Cool" http://youtu.be/jBlNeDFKDVo
  9. If you plan to go passive it might mean new pickups as those EMG's could be active. That said the pickups plus the preamp are pretty saleable to offset the cost.
  10. That is over the three components. When broken down it's a lot more manageable.
  11. We had a pair of Maui 11's for years. I know it's not the same beast but the technology is the same. They were amazing and handled everything we threw at them. Five piece band with a k/b player, eight piece with brass section, no problem. We even used a single unit in a function room of 250 people and it handled it. I can only assume the 44's are even better.
  12. These guys from Scotland are awesome. Saw them a few months ago and booked again in Oct. Tom McGuire and the Brassholes. https://youtu.be/Fhb9VHodGWE
  13. There are a number of self build plans on here that are available. All have been properly designed and thoroughly tested.
  14. If you use Facebook it might be worth asking on the ACG Owners group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/117104031648312/?ref=share
  15. As someone who has tried a ton of different amps over the years, before going ampless, I found Ashdown to be my favourite. The Rootmaster is a fabulous amp if you want lightweight. The ABM is industry standard and I loved the Retroglide. The other advantage with Ashdown is that they have the best customer service on the planet. The can repair anything they have ever produced and are more than reasonable.
  16. Just weighed one if my 5 strings and it's 3.3kg or 7lb 6oz in old money. I would imagine the 4 strings would be a bit lighter.
  17. I've got two 5 string Mezzos. Astonishing value for money and I keep getting positive comments from sound guys.
  18. Nothing obvious. Looks like a standard "jazz bass" type setup other than the EMG's are active. Could be the tone pot or capacitor is goosed. There's not much else to go wrong with that setup.
  19. Seek medical advice if it is bothering you. You will get a million different diagnoses from any Internet forum. I would get an expert's advice.
