  1. I'd give Ashdown a call. Best customer service in the business and if you can speak to Dave Green I'm sure he'll come up with a solution.
  2. Wilkinson WBBC5 Vintage bridge. Brand new, chrome finish, brass saddles. Standard Fender and Fender-a-like fit. More substantial than a standard Fender BBOT. Includes UK postage.
  3. Both myself and @Phil Starr had MarkBass issues that made them uneconomical to repair. We both ended up with a Peavey Mini Max 500 and both agreed it actually sounded better than our MarkBass. At the time Thomann were selling them at £169 as Peavey had released a MkII version. They do pop up now and again.
  4. @dutchwife thanks for the comments. The arthritis is a bit of a pain, no pun intended, but at least I've found a solution that means I can keep playing. The original SGC Nanyo Bass Collections are indeed cracking basses but very overlooked. Light as a feather, Gotoh hardware and the active basses were between £700 and £900 back in the day. If they made a 32" scale version I'd be scouring the web for one, they are that good.
  5. I'm moving to 32" scale basses due to a bit of arthritis creeping in. All my standard scale basses are going and this is the last of the 3 Bass Collections I own(ed). By far the nicest and in fantastic condition. It's an SB315, I believe and serial number is 912992 making it a 1991 build. I've replaced the pre-amp with a Glockenklang 2 band and had an external battery box fitted at the same time. I've still got the original pre-amp and knobs but the Glock is a country mile better than the stock electronics. It's in stunning condition for a 31 year old bass with just a couple of small dings that are difficult to spot and photograph..
  6. It's 34" scale. I'll measure the nut spacing tomorrow as I'm out at the moment.
  7. ACG Skelf Type "R". Serial number 0097 and was Alan's own bass at one time. Black Limba body with a figured Redwood top. Padauk/Wenge/Maple 5 piece neck with an Acrylic Impregnated Wenge finger board. Asymmetric neck carve with a flat finger board. Luminlay fret markers. ACG SEQ+ pre-amp which is the standard SEQ but with an additional high pass stack. Pickups are a coil-tapped RFB humbucker and SBT single coil. The single coil also has a tap in the windings and is overwound to give a nice aggressive tone and when tapped it becomes a smoother tone. Hipshot Type A bridge 18 mm spacing and Hipshot Ultralites. Schaller straplocks.. Satin finish. Weight 8.25lbs There is minute ding on the front that I only spotted when giving it a microscopic look over. Couldn't photograph it as it is just a small depression. Otherwise it is immaculate. Alan reckons it would cost around £3k to build another of these and is one of a kind. I'm moving to medium scale basses due to the onset of arthritis so not really interested in trades, unless 32" scale 5 string. Reduced to £1550 Further reduction to £1395 before it goes for a commission sale.
  8. These should do the job. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374223839660?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=V0UXGxHAQjG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=NXO8JSHoStK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  9. There's a nearly new BG250 for sale down below. Includes postage. Nothing to do with me by the way. I bought one just for rehearsals and now seem to be using it all the time. Light, loud and punchy.
  10. Calling Mike, @Beneath It All. I know Mike has worked extensively on cruise ships. Hopefully he can give his insight.
  11. Even a complete custom pickguard would be easier and probably cheaper. Good idea @Richard R
  12. Been asked about trades. As I am switching to medium scale then a trade with a nice light 5 string 32" would interest me or an Ashdown Rootmaster Combo. Also it has the genuine Bacchus gig bag as suppled from new and I'm happy to post.

  14. I've should have a ParBar foot switch kicking around somewhere from when I had 3 sets that have all been sold. Not sure they are the same footswitch.
  15. I haven't seen her before but my son, who lives in Prague, saw her on my recommendation and said they were a great band. Certainly not a bassfest. There are some full concerts on YT that are worth a watch if you are uncertain. When he saw her in Prague he was chatting at the bar with her and video called me. We were eating at the time, phone in another room so didn't here it and missed the opportunity of a chat. 😡
  16. If you are reading this you know about Bacchus basses, unfortunately this one has a twisted neck. It's a late 2018 model and I bought it two years ago after first lockdown and it sat there un-played in all that time. I didn't think to check it properly as it played great and has that proper Jazz growl. It only came to light when I decided to sell it as I'm moving to medium scale basses. This is one of the Woodline models made by Bacchus in the Philippines I've had two MIJ Bacchus and in my opinion the workmanship is every bit as good as the Japanese models. I have a deal on the table with Danny at Bass Japan Direct who wants the loaded body for one of his "Funky Junk" projects and he would source a medium scale Bacchus for me and take this in p/ex. That deal is actually worth more to me than the price I have on here but if I can avoid the paperwork etc, required to send to Japan I'd rather sell it cheaper. It does play pretty well but you can't get a really low action on it. I've been directed towards some stunning maple necks that would look awesome on this and for around £80ish. That would be a really cheap Bacchus. I've had a few questions which I think are worth sharing. I've been asked "could the neck be rescued?". I've had the bass looked at by my go to luthier/ guitar tech and he is if the opinion that it could possibly be straightened by heating and clamping it but no guarantee that it wouldn't twist again. The proper solution would be to remove the neck and rout out for two carbon rods. This would break up the grain and provide additional stability. A costly exercise and wouldn't it look nicer with a bound and blocked maple neck? "Will a standard Fender width neck fit?" I don't have anything to accurately measure the neck pocket but using a steel rule, it appears in the 68-70 mm area. I think a Fender Jazz/P Bass is just short of 69mm so certainly ball park. It does have a curved rout in the neck pocket, which isn't visible as the fingerboard overhangs a little so it appears squared off. "What do the controls do?" It's an active bass and currently it's vol/vol/bass/ treble cut and boost. It's easy to convert to vol/blend. Any more questions, just ask. I've also got it f/s in the Accessories & Other........ as I've valued it as a loaded body, but it is a perfectly playable bass and cheap for a Bacchus.

  18. Ida Nielsen at Band on the Wall, Manchester in October.
  19. Had many years playing option 1 But now Option 2 all the way. 18 - 20 gigs a year in good venues is perfect. That said I'm with a 10 piece band now, so Option 1 is not going to happen.
  20. It seems barmy. Apparently it's only the "b" string that is a special, give away being the brass ball end rather than the standard purple. The other four strings are a standard set. Whenever they do a special order or OEM strings they don't use coloured ball ends. On a similar theme, I have a Mono Bass sleeve. Not exactly a cheap piece of kit but it is a cracking gig bag and does the job. A medium scale bass doesn't fit properly as the neck support is fixed. Whilst stuffing an extra couple of inches of foam in the bass to compensate for the shorter length I discovered the existing neoprene rubber protection in the base is fixed in with Velcro. In theory you could just swap the base neoprene for a different thickness and cater for standard/medium/short scale basses. Naively I thought maybe Mono had thought of this and offered different thickness pads to cater for the wide range of scale lengths. A quick email and off course they don't. Their solution tray a different bag, more money but even then they suggest a guitar bag from somewhere with a good return policy as they can't confirm it will fit. Another opportunity missed.
  21. Thanks for thinking about me Martin. Definitely too heavy.
  22. Had a lengthy exchange with George fro D'Addario customer support regarding the strings and he is stumped. He reckons they don't make a medium scale "b" string in the 165vor 170 range. One thing I did notice is the ball end on the Mezzo "b" string is the same colour as the "e" string. I had a look at my standard scale basses that house D'Addarios and the "b" string is purple. This has confused George even more as he cannot identify what strings they are. Can anyone suggest a suitable gig bag to house the little treasure. My Mono Bass Sleeve that is my go to has a fixed neck support and the Mezzo ends up with the headstock on it. I guess I could cram some suitable foam in the bottom to correct it but I'd rather have something it would fit properly.
  23. Diagram 1 looks correct to me except there is no earth to the volume control unless you've missed a wire off the diagram. A wire between the volume body and either the jack or earthing on the pentatone may be the answer.
