1.
well ive really enjoyed looking at all these beautiful Ibanez's, especially the vintage ones, and thought I would add my own little bit of Ibby porn. My beautiful Roadster RS824BB:
That is a thing of beauty!......
2. Much respect to Mr Karn.... Such unique creative playing... The two albums that I first heard that got me hooked were Tin Drum - Japan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le2PzKDpffs & The Waking Hour - Dalis Car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-t8J8OUSo0&list=PLEE235AFE84F57338 It was mainly he, along with early Pino (with Gary Newman & Paul Young) & also Percy Jones that inspired me to rip the frets off an early Aria P copy bass I had, to have an inspired fumble!....
3. I used a T max for many years.... a great amp... bit on the heavy side by today's standards but I may be interested, purely for nostalgia... my tech guy says they are very easy to work on.... 50 quid eh? ... hmmm..... I'm in Bristol too!.... so could be very easy?.....
4. Got a lot of love for Ibanez..... Always been affordable, quality instruments & not afraid of pushing the envelope with design.... Had a Roadstar II back in the 80's, served me well.... Recently acquired an ATK815 Premium & after a decent set up... I'm loving it! ....A very versatile bass.... Good lord!..... What did I look like!?!.....
5. Just bought an Xotic SP compressor off Graeme.... Very smooth transaction, great communication, it arrived well packed & as described.. Very easy to deal with, a thoroughly pleasant experience.... Top man.
6. That is a thing of beauty!..... When I bought my Stingray 5, it was the new shape & scratchplate etc...Still a great bass but I always preferred the trad old skool look... & that is probably my all time favourite finish..... ...so tempted!
7. I know this was a while ago... but do you still have it up for sale?
8. I thought I posted in this before?.... ...Was there two threads? Anyway.... EXL 170 5's (45 - 130)...Been using them a long time. Every now & then I try something else but I always seem to come back to D'Addario... This thread has got me all interested in the EXP coated strings.... Also, I like the fact that D'Addario come in a sealed pack.... Always as fresh as the day they were picked!
9. EXL 170 - 5's 45 - 130 All the time.... Occasionally I try others but always come back to D'Addario. I also like the fact that they come in a sealed bag... You know they will be as fresh as when first picked!
10. I like the bits with just bass, drums & vocal.... Gets too busy for me when the piano comes in.... the chaos bits would work better stripped out.. less is more!
11.
MB1. Topic Edit Please Note ALL Trades need to be PMD to the Seller and not posted on the sellers ad If you do post trades on a sellers ad they will be Deleted immediately without notice.
.... I get it....... Sorry!
12. I had a clear scratchplate made for my Sandberg Basic, several years ago... I used aurora project who have since gone out of business, as far as I can tell... I sent them the original one as a template & they turned it around very quickly at a reasonable price... but the fit wasn't the best & I eventually cracked it by over tightening a screw. I went directly to Sandberg after that & they did me a much better quality one for around £40-ish. I've since gone back to using the original black one! Didn't like the fact that you could see sweat beads under the plate.... There seems to be several custom made options out in Googleland..... http://www.originals...lates.com/#home .....This looks reasonable but I've had no actual experience of them...
13.
This is actually a Japanese Matsumoku build, the same bass turns up with a different headstock & numerous brand names, including Aria & Commodore.
I remember Commadore being in the 'Bells Musical Instruments' catalogue many moons ago! Jeez... £42.35 (what an odd price!) ... Another bit of old skool Epi porn..... Newport? With the bat wing headstock These do look cool though.... I believe Epiphone did re-release a similar shape guitar version relatively recently but not the bass....
14. Curiouser & curiouser..... Yes, there is an ET280 on Ebay at the moment for £195.... Don't think I'm up for it though... If it was a Crestwood, maybe so.... I have a friend who used to have a Crestwood guitar back in the day, it was a really good guitar.... Never seen an epi scroll before...
15. Has anyone owned or played an Epiphone ET280? Quite a cool retro 70's look.... I think the guy from LCD Soundsystem used to play one.. Epiphone were very good at making their own original designs back in the day.
16.
I am interested, how much to post/courier to Essex? cheers Darren
Have PM'ed you...
17. Great cabs... I had a pair for a while... Engineers were always really impressed with them & often took the trouble to mic them rather than DI the head... Very true sounding....
18. Maybe run it through the 1st page again..... Mr Bump....
