2. Thanks for all the suggestions .... I eventually went with the LaBella extra light Flats.... The gauge fits exactly with the nut... & although I was unsure if I'd get on with a set so light,39 - 96.... They actually feel great & sound perfect.... Maybe try some Nylon Tapewounds another time... These will probably last for ever on this bass though!..
3. If this doesn't go.... I am also interested.....
4.
Confusing post, inasmuchas tapewound is the term the Americans use for flats. Do you mean nylon tape wound? I have the Picato Black Nylon set on a 5-string, and while the set is 50-105 plus 130, they feel really light. Remember some of the thickness is taken up with very light nylon, and the windings have almost no effect on the tension of the string.
Ah yes..... indeed, I mean Nylon tape wound.... I have added that to the original post now..... thanks!
5. I recently purchased an Aria FEB fretless acoustic bass (affectionately called a 'febfluffen' on TB) I would like to put some Nylon tape wound strings on it but I'm not finding it easy to track down a light enough gauge to fit the nut slots without having to file them out... LaBella do an extra light set of flats (760FX) which are 39 - 96... but I can't find any tapes lighter than 750N - Light .050 - G 1 .065 - D 2 .085 - A 3 .105 - E 4. Execpt the 'Beatle bass' set for a Hofner Violin fit.... Any suggestions? My febfluffen!.....
6. I used to have an AG500 & now have a TH500.... I miss the mid controls on the 500 & the 'magic buttons' (deep & bright) ...Thinking that the 700 will be similar to the old 500 but with more headroom... The reason I got rid of my AG500sc is because I kept tripping it out when running at 4 ohms... The protection circuit was way too trigger happy.... couldn't resolve it, so moved to the TH500... A nice amp..... with the 'Aguilar' tone but not quite as warm as the AG in my opinion. Still at over a grand, not sure if I will go for the 700!... If Aguilar made lightweight SL 2x10's ...I reckon 2 of them with an AG700 head could be my dream rig......very portable... & a choice of 1 or 2 cabs for different venues sizes. The new SL 4x10 looks good but again, VERY pricey.... I can't really justify spending almost 2 & a half grand on a rig, for the level of gigs I do, when it isn't absolutely perfect for my needs... I am a big fan of Aguilar though.....
7. Some great stuff already..... I'd like to add: Genesis - Back in NYC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fllf-WMB0hY One note on the bass pedals ....for a fair bit of the whole song! & Meshell Ndegeocello - Stay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0H2xYgndls Love the buckets of funk in the main 2 note vamp.....
8. Think these will go to a school where someone on here teaches....
9. I've got two guitar stands that I have no need for... A Hercules small one, in full working order & an Ultimate GS1000 that has a little bit of plastic chipped out where the locking piece is. It works ok though & is repairable for a more sturdy support. FREE to anyone in need!..... Obviously, I'm not going to bother to get into posting them.. So collection only (I'm based Bristol area) Gig all over though... In fact this weekend (5th Nov) I'm doing Butlins gigs... Sat I'm in Bognor & Sun in the fabulous Skegness!...
10.
well ive really enjoyed looking at all these beautiful Ibanez's, especially the vintage ones, and thought I would add my own little bit of Ibby porn. My beautiful Roadster RS824BB:
That is a thing of beauty!......
11. Much respect to Mr Karn.... Such unique creative playing... The two albums that I first heard that got me hooked were Tin Drum - Japan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le2PzKDpffs & The Waking Hour - Dalis Car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-t8J8OUSo0&list=PLEE235AFE84F57338 It was mainly he, along with early Pino (with Gary Newman & Paul Young) & also Percy Jones that inspired me to rip the frets off an early Aria P copy bass I had, to have an inspired fumble!....
12. I used a T max for many years.... a great amp... bit on the heavy side by today's standards but I may be interested, purely for nostalgia... my tech guy says they are very easy to work on.... 50 quid eh? ... hmmm..... I'm in Bristol too!.... so could be very easy?.....
13. Got a lot of love for Ibanez..... Always been affordable, quality instruments & not afraid of pushing the envelope with design.... Had a Roadstar II back in the 80's, served me well.... Recently acquired an ATK815 Premium & after a decent set up... I'm loving it! ....A very versatile bass.... Good lord!..... What did I look like!?!.....
14. Just bought an Xotic SP compressor off Graeme.... Very smooth transaction, great communication, it arrived well packed & as described.. Very easy to deal with, a thoroughly pleasant experience.... Top man.
15. Yes Please! PM'ed
16. That is a thing of beauty!..... When I bought my Stingray 5, it was the new shape & scratchplate etc...Still a great bass but I always preferred the trad old skool look... & that is probably my all time favourite finish..... ...so tempted!
17. I know this was a while ago... but do you still have it up for sale?
18. PM'ed
19. I thought I posted in this before?.... ...Was there two threads? Anyway.... EXL 170 5's (45 - 130)...Been using them a long time. Every now & then I try something else but I always seem to come back to D'Addario... This thread has got me all interested in the EXP coated strings.... Also, I like the fact that D'Addario come in a sealed pack.... Always as fresh as the day they were picked!
20. EXL 170 - 5's 45 - 130 All the time.... Occasionally I try others but always come back to D'Addario. I also like the fact that they come in a sealed bag... You know they will be as fresh as when first picked!
21. I like the bits with just bass, drums & vocal.... Gets too busy for me when the piano comes in.... the chaos bits would work better stripped out.. less is more!
22.
MB1. Topic Edit Please Note ALL Trades need to be PMD to the Seller and not posted on the sellers ad If you do post trades on a sellers ad they will be Deleted immediately without notice.
.... I get it....... Sorry!
