3. Thanks HB for the Shpongle... had only heard bits & bobs of them... Having a proper listen now........ this tinternet, eh?! .....What did we do without it?
4. I love it when by chance, I stumble across something I haven't heard before that get's me all excited! Really enjoying this live gig.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4s46rKglI0
5.
The protect led was not lit after the sound died - there may have been something before the failure but the amp was behind me so I would not have noticed. Tried 'recycling' a number of times on the night, but had no effect. Presume that any adjustment of a protect circuit is a specialist tech job - any recommendations (ideally close to swindon)?
I go to Martin Bailey in Hengrove Bristol.... Knows his stuff & charmingly eccentric! ...cheap as chips too! PM me if you want a contact number....
6. Is a protect mode kicking in for some reason? I had a similar situation with an Aguilar head a while back... Would cut out suddenly but could be re-set by re-cycling the amp (turning off & on again, to the likes of me!) Turned out that of the two protection modes: Thermal/DC & Overcurrent, it was the later that was at fault... Kinda had a bit of a 'hair trigger' After a tiny adjustment to something inside (not really up with the tech side!) It's been working fine.... I was so relieved, losing confidence in your gear is the worst!
7. The 'Nard & Nile Magic!.... With Tony Thomson ..What a rhythm section ....life changing! ......Really interesting watching the interview...... a great way to spend an hour & a half!... thanks! 'Carve out the space you want to live in!....'
8. After many years of never really having a problem with amps going down... (or being able to really afford the luxury of a spare) I had a spate of bad luck a few years a go & now always carry a GB shuttle 6.2 around as a spare & a DI box too!
9.
........ i think he deserves it and more. whats up with the nail varnish comments.?? i couldn't give a sh*t if he had 6 fingers. Give the guy some respect, and walk out into a world were people are different to each other.
.....exactly!
10. ....another vote for any/all off of SPACE RITUAL! That album was one of the reasons I took up the bass!.... & still gets my space rock bone up!
11. 1st thing I thought was.... 'maybe I should get my daughter to paint my nails!' (...my son would probably be sh*t at it!)
12.
My upgraded rig: Tube preamp (DIY) into Peavey IPR 1600 into fEARful 15/6.
Lookin' cool.... & meticulously planned!... I bet that delivers. Would love to hear what it sounds like!
13.
Bear in mind that this thread will simply provide you with a long and definitive list of what other people like/own. Your best bet is to take a listen to some demos, pick a few you're interested in, purchase them (one-by-one and second hand if necessary) and try them live. Move them on if you're not happy. The quest for the ever-elusive drive tone is a long but fun one Si
Tis the best path ...mostly!
14. Another subscriber here!.... He does have an infectious delivery! Always something inspiring to be found in his well constructed site & lessons...
15. Have a bump for a great versatile pedal! I've looked for alternatives over the years but it remains on my board as a regular.... The EQ is really useful, locking recessed knobs a brilliant idea & the 'clean' function is very usable as a boost ....
16. She's such a great artist.... Love that version of Loyalty & Peace beyond passion has been a favorite album of mine since it was released... Always good to revisit it every now & then.... Her groove playing is right on the money.... Found this version of Suzanne, the Leonard Cohen song recently.... Really sensitive & a great groove to it as it develops... 17. Would you be interested in any trades? I'm short on cash at the moment but have a Catalinbread SFT which I'm not using as much as I used to...
18. Sold a Bottomfeeder to Fatos, Really easy to deal with, great comms & prompt payment... Buy/Sell with confidence! Thanks mate...
19. Here's my current rig options side by side... Mostly use the Aguilar cabs live. Other than the odd compact low key gig, the GK cab is mainly rehearsal.
20.
it was more a case of his hands being the air when the bass was sounding out @ 4.00 'ish on the girls on the live film video unless its a bass synth? My wife bought me the making of Rio, now that is worth watching
Do you mean this classic albums thing? Very interesting indeed! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k2emYtC0CQ
21. ... & here's that Carly Simon - Bernard Edwards bass that he mentions at the end..... Great playing!... Love it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW8UnXzP3ms
