1st actual gig with the 'A little more Gilmour' band https://alittlemoregilmour.com went well, I think....
-
I have an Epiphone Embassy which I really like the sound of..
-
I've not found any problems without a finger rest... I like to pluck from different places to get different tones.. right up the neck end is quite upright sounding...
-
Yes I put La Bella flats on mine.. makes the sound really authentic... Didn't like those weird bronzed rounds at all. I took some advice from someone on TalkBass and got a lighter gauge than I would normally use, so they fit in the nut grooves, which would've needed making wider otherwise.. (La Bella 760FX Deep Talkin Bass Guitar Strings - X/Light 39 - 96...) sound is still fat and the strings feel right.. ππ I have a guitar guy who sets up stuff for me (lazy!) but not much had to be done to it...

Doh!... Been a while... Soz! βΊοΈπ₯³..if there is any interest still, here is the YouTube link..... A little more Gilmour It's been fun, proper gigs start in October...

Totally... I agree... B & C direct are also UK based & the factory is in Wakefield ... What has been described to me sounds like of similar quality.. but not received it yet, so we shall see......

I've just ordered one for a Warwick Gnome 2/10/4 from Bags & Covers Direct https://www.bagsandcoversdirect.co.uk/ .. after getting a quote from Roqsolid for Β£78 (including postage) Bags & Covers Direct have priced it at Β£32!... Communication has been good with them, looking forward to seeing what turns up... I've used Roqsolid for years but they just seem to be getting more & more expensive

Just wanted to revive this to show the thing in action! Gravity Wave Riders - Child of the Aviator It was a lot of fun making the video, the bass looks great for the job but I haven't used it since!

Lovely time had by all showcasing the new project "A little more Gilmour' Dave Gilmour & Pink Floyd tribute act

Honed mine down to 7 essential pedals... Really happy with this version.... Korg pitch black mini, MXR Dyno comp bass mini, MXR vintage bass octave, Darkglass B3K, Xotic bass RC booster, EBS bass IQ envelope filter, Boss bass chorus. The MXR compressor is just lovely... Inconspicuous but tightens things up perfectly !

I have a Sandberg basic 5 that I believe has the first maple fingerboard that Sandberg made, as I asked for it, through the (now extinct) shop that had a dealership. It was custom made... I love the shape & feel of this bass, even though the neck is quite wide ... I was used to playing a Music Man Stingray 5 before.... It was lighter and perfect for for my needs at the time, I was gigging in different countries and was flying often... I did find the stock pickup a little bland.. & swapped it for an Aguilar MM .. which is definitely warmer sounding... My tech guy thinks Sandberg are nothing special, but an obvious marketing success.. I like my basic 5 but it's not my go to bass these days.. cute though!

I stuck some ' boiled' D'Addario EXL170-5 (so not even new) on mine & the tone is pretty good.. neck pup blended in a bit stronger.. is my preference. Not my favourite bass in my collection but fun and usable... for the right occasion π½

They are not the easiest basses to make playable...shim needed, bridge is a bit cheap but I'm not going to replace it.. the strings it comes with are utter pants! Pups are actually not bad, although they look & feel cheap.. action down to something playable.. string spacing is a little narrow for my liking ... but it is quite fun! Got a photo shoot for a 'Space Rock' band coming up... it's got to be part of that! π½π€ποΈ

My guitar luthier has worked hard on this bass... it was a bit of a mess tbh! action was impossible! ...It now plays pretty good and it lights up! π€‘π
