I am on here a LOT less than I used to be but put it down to a change in me rather than a change in the site. I enjoy myself when I'm on here but it tends to be 10 mins every couple of days rather than spending half my evening every night on here. Off topic aside I guess there is only so much time you can spend re visiting "Fender vs Warwick", "Are Rotosound rubbish?" and the usual threads. Great fun first time around but once your opinion has been shared I guess people start to know where you stand. After all I guess only so much can be said about the bands we like and the gear we play. You wouldn't have the same debate with your friends over and over again. Let the new posters have fun with the topics I've debated So personally I'm off doing a bunch of other stuff but having a genuinely renewed interest when I do come on here.

I too would box around the number but to be fair if you are spraying the neck it'll impact on resale value anyway. That said it's a modern MIM Fender, not a 1951 original so you gotta do what you want to enjoy it.

I think the answers so far about cover it. I prefer the bass to act in support but that doesn't suit every genre or every band

I haven't wanted new kit for AGES. It started slowing about 2yrs ago & it probably needed too. It ground to a halt at the start of this year and I've had no interest in new kit all year. I can't see it changing either.

The body is looking great. I stripped my main Precision & it really helped me bond with the instrument

I had really heavy gauge La Bella flats on mine, had to re cut the nut for the E. It sounded awesome & they stayed until I sold the bass

I play with the ashtray covers still on

I had a Jazz back around '94 with a boomy E and G string; it's more common on Jazzes from what I can tell but extremely rare. I've owned a dozen or so P basses and never heard of it on a Precision. New strings, followed by a decent set up followed by changing the pickup seem to be the way forward when it comes to investigating

Friday at Zanzibar in Liverpool was surprisingly quiet but we played well. Saturday at the Americana UK festival (we headlined the 2nd stage) was probably my favourite gig of the year - played well, great crowd etc. Sunday was a quiet wind down gig in Stratford which was enjoyable enough and we played pretty much everything, unveiling new songs too. A great weekend

I had an email this weekend but no notification email which was unusual. I'd not logged in since Friday so had no idea until I logged in today and saw the red triangle. Just thought I'd raise it

I saw him last week in Basingstoke. Georgie Fame, Albert Lee - some serious players. I like Wyman but he is probably the least talented in that band. The drummer and piano player were amazing and the horn section were really fun to watch. It was a little show band for my tastes in places but Wyman was doing what he wants to do. I don't know about other nights but he walked on and said "this isn't a career move for me" which I liked. I'm pleased I saw him.

I got drunk before a gig where the backing vocalist of the support band was at least a foot shorter. Having done our big entrance walking through the crowd I got onstage and went to adjust the mic stand. I lost my footing and fell off stage before we'd even played a note. You can't claw it back from that!

Bill Wyman plays with his thumb so can easily palm mute.

Personally I don't have a problem with this guy's tone & I remember the clip when I saw it on Jools Holland's show. However, I do have a problem with his pickguard choice! Both my Precisions have foam under the (flatwound) strings. If you don't like the technique I guess you aren't going to be a fan of my playing. I do it because I like the vintage thumpy sound & it suits my band

I bought mine just to look at the nice pictures really & I'm pleased I got it. I'm a bit surprised by the more negative comments, it's just a bit of fun really.

Adding to the already good advice, don't bite if people stir it when you've left. Go with dignity and they'll miss you. If you go complaining you could lose friends. I too know what you mean, one bad attitude can drag the whole thing down. Best of luck

I appreciate that rOB. Because the Americana scene is quite small but loyal I know the 2 main promoters in Leicester (we played there back in Feb at The Donkey & had a fantastic time). I guess we're now just looking for a halfway home venue between Liverpool & Berkshire for Sunday so it doesn't have to be Leicester necessarily anymore. Thanks for the offer
