1. Terrific, under rated basses that are just made for gigging. The only bass on my wish list now is one of these, but white with maple board. Somebody is going to be happy. GLWTS
2. Bollox. Damon, if it don't work out, next in queue please.
3. I made my original comment in the context that I've had plek'd basses. I didn't really notice them to be greatly different to non-plek'd. There again, I'm a ham fisted clod.
4.
It's not cobblers. Your technique is what it is. . . . but however good you are I bet you'll play better on a bass with a 5 mm action than one with a 10 or 15mm action. The better your playing gets the more differences like that will matter. If your technique progresses you might notice the difference between 3mm and 5mm.
Yeah but how much better? Frets levelled, 4/64ths one side, 5/64ths other side, rest of the basses set up to the roughly recommended parameters. I'll never be a virtuoso but that kind of set up allows me to play fast, accurate and multi stringed if the occassion demands. The older I get and the more knowledge I get, the more I find the Fender is an amazing, versatile instrument. Regardless of which method of fret levelling is used.Kinda like the way Mr. Sheehan sets his basses up.
Talking cobblers is a sport - and highly amusing . Carry on
FINALLY, a sport I might get decent at
5. I'm old and dim, but just because a bass has been plek'd to optimum performance, that doesn't mean it's necessarily optimum performance for my (lack of) style/technique? Or am I talking cobblers as usual
6. SOLD thanks, and thanks for the very surprising amount of interest. Guess there is always a place for quality . Apologies to the 4 disappointed folks.
7. DiMarzio or Steve Harris for me. Passive, always passive. But I'm strange.
8. Isn't it strange how we find different things, part of the adventure I think. Reason I make this comment, ome of the embarrassingly many set ups I've used was a PUMA 900 through Barefaced S12 with Fender P/J and the way I had it set up was amazingly punchy. An accident I got such a good sound believe me. A change in band lead me to theoretically needing a more smooth vintage sound.
9. Don't forget TecAmp or Eich. Both seem popular with folk who use both types of instrument.
10. Geert is a really nice guy, a pleasure to chat with. He contacted me about my Schroeder. It was a real shame he was actually the 6th to contact me about that cab. Although that deal didn't happen purely down to timing, I would have happily sent the cab to him. A true gent and fully recommended.
11. Cracking job Richard, you are good at this stuff aintcha. Got some bad news for you though. No more cab GAS. Just different colour cloth every year. Fender fawn/tweed next year perhaps?
12.
Me. I know. Shorts AND Elvis specs. To be honest. I had just got back from Graceland and it was meant to be a joke. Honest guys.
Bassist in inappropriate tapping scandal. Elvis says "Oi, no!" One of 3 warm up gigs for a band, that due to various commitments, won't be running fully until late Feb. 13. OK all pm's replied, many thanks folks. 2 people have asked re courier. I am reluctant, in the wooden box it weighs 21kgs. My concern is in the unlikely event of a courier dropping it, it's own weight will cause it to become damaged. I'm going to attempt to protectively box it later on today. Wish me luck
14. Collected and gone, thanks for all the interest folks.
15. Thank you Mr. Burns-bass, they are certainly fabulous amps, though sadly out of favour. For example, an EBS of this type and quality, would command at least twice as much as I'm asking. This one will take a while I think, but it's my last, so no biggie Slightly better photos. 16. Apologies for awful photos. SCHROEDER is NOT included in this sale. Regarding photos camera was being strangely awkward. Anybody who knows me knows that if anything I undersell the condition of my gear. So, fabulous iAMP with built in SABINE tuner. 600 watts @ 4 ohms. Link to manual, there are simply too many tonal options (4 presets for starters) to start going through. http://www.eaamps.co.../iAMP600Man.pdf This amp comes in the EA wooden box, which is unusual. It is a normal rack size without the box and weighs 27lbs. With the box (which I'm including) it's about 40lbs and is bleedin' massive! 21.5 inches x 17.5 inches x 5.5 inches. It's probably about a decade old in excellent condition. A scratch on the front and some paint missing/rust, on the metal box corners. The iAMP 800'S seem to go between £400/£500. I think £300 is fair to buyer and seller. I know it's big and unfashionable but it is a stupendous amp. Sadly I will never gig something this big again. Any trial in Wigan, will meet up within 100 miles of Wigan at no extra charge (I'll be at Corley Services J3/J3A , M6, this Sunday at 2pm) Feedback linked below. Many thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. 17. And sold. The day after the PUMA 500 I was after sold
18. Sorry, the titanium bullet tweeter is 200 watts. The cab is 800 watts
19. Lovely bloke, great to deal with. Fully recommended, made it all so easy. Many thanks Dave, enjoy the amp
20. I'm fairly sure I have replied to all pm's. The one who was coming to see it at 8pm last night? Didn't show. Let's see if today's guy does.
21. Very simple Marc. You see those bits "sale only" "no trades"? Didn't happen I got offered my perfect Schroeder (which last sold on here for £325, MUCH less than I was asking for these). I took a straight swap because to get my perfect Schroeder, new, from the states, would cost over £1000 now. So, yes, I'm taking a massive hit on these, but it's not always about the money. My EA iAMP 600 will have to go up because I haven't sold this, but, I'm getting the Schro I've long lusted for . Happy bunny!
22. That would be a bit scary Pete I wanted to sell these, BUT, was offered a trade against MY perfect Schroeder. What makes it even better the offer was made by a pro legend that I have massive admiration for . Right, going to actually have to sell something else. iAMP 600, watch, well, not this particular space. Thanks for all the interest folks, cheers, Karl.
23. Knew it, looks like my STR is going later in the week.
